Former Great British Baking Show co-host Matt Lucas shocked fans on Wednesday night (August 26) after debuting a new look on the British evening magazine program The One Show.

Lucas, who hosted the popular baking competition series alongside Noel Fielding from 2020 to 2023, showed off his new trim look and a “bizarre beard” as he chatted with hosts Clara Amfo and JB Gill. The facial hair included a mustache and goatee that extended below the chin.

“I’m growing this bizarre beard,” Lucas told the hosts.

“Well, let’s talk about that. I don’t think we’ve ever seen you this way,” Amfo responded.

“Well, I’ve never ever tried,” the comedian replied, revealing that he’s growing the beard ahead of his stint as Fagin in the West End production of Oliver. “I grew a mustache for three weeks in the pandemic, but I mean, you know, I’ve talked about this before… I have alopecia.”

Lucas revealed that he lost all his hair when he was six years old, but as of seven weeks ago, he stopped shaving to see what would happen. “And this is what happened,” he said, joking, “My aim is to keep growing it down to my ankles and then when I’m at the football and it’s freezing in the winter…”

The Little Britain alum also surprised fans with his trimmer look. Lucas began his weight loss journey after concerns about his family’s medical history. Speaking on The Mid•Point with Gabby Logan podcast in 2022, Lucas revealed, “I’m 48, my dad died when he was 52 very suddenly, his dad died I think at 56, so I was looking at the law of averages here.”

“I was very big, and I was getting bigger in the pandemic actually,” he admitted. “Sort of not being very active, not really going out, not seeing people, just eating a lot of roast potatoes… I was so big I couldn’t really fit on screen anymore.”

After changing his diet, Lucas dropped significant weight, revealing, “I’ve gone from maybe an XXL, sometimes I was an XXXL, down to a medium now I think. Although medium is sometimes big on me and sometimes it’s small on me.”

Fans on social media reacted with surprise to Lucas’ new look, with his beard and weight loss as the main topics of conversation.

“I just can’t compute Matt Lucas as a thin man,” another added.

Michael Jordan is not expected to return to NBC’s NBA coverage during the 2026-27 season.

Jordan was tabbed as a blockbuster addition to NBC’s studio coverage of the NBA last season, but His Airness only ended up appearing in one sit-down interview, which was then cut up into multiple segments and aired over several nights.

The 63-year-old basketball icon, who many consider to be the greatest player in NBA history, was given the title of ‘special on-air contributor’ on NBC ahead of what was the network’s first season broadcasting the league since 2002.

Following the announcement, many fans believed Jordan would regularly appear on their screens throughout the season, but that did not end up being the case. After it was realized what his role was, Jordan and NBC were the subject of widespread backlash.

Front Office Sports has now reported that Jordan likely won’t be involved in NBC’s NBA coverage moving forward.

While the possibility of Jordan returning was not entirely ruled out, FOS’ Michael McCarthy wrote, “sources say NBC viewers likely won’t see or hear from basketball’s most famous face during the upcoming campaign.”

NBC will once again play a major role in broadcasting the NBA this year, starting with a triple-header to tip off the 2026-27 season on Oct. 20, which includes a mouth-watering matchup between the reigning champion New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, who added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown this offseason.

Jordan's contributions on NBC came in the form of pre-taped interview segments -Credit:NBC

All of Jordan’s contributions to NBC last year came in a pre-recorded interview with the network’s lead play-by-play announcer, Mike Tirico.

The segments were titled MJ: Insights To Excellence and featured Jordan’s opinions on current NBA storylines, including load management, as well as nostalgic talking points like the Dream Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics and what it was like playing in Madison Square Garden in the 1990s.

In total, just five segments aired, with each lasting three to four minutes apiece.

Fans who had enjoyed the critically-acclaimed Netflix documentary The Last Dance, which featured extensive interviews with Jordan, were left clamoring for more.

Jordan’s link with NBC goes well beyond his part-time contributor role last season. In the 1990s, the network aired all six of his NBA championship victories with the Chicago Bulls.

After serving as the league’s primary broadcast partner from 1990 to 2002, NBC did not air NBA games for more than two decades before striking an 11-year rights deal ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Along with ESPN/ABC and Amazon Prime Video, NBC (and its streaming platform Peacock) agreed to a $76 billion deal with the NBA for its broadcast rights through the 2035-26 season.

Parton’s original wedding rings were from Sears, and when she lost one of them years later, she bought the replacement from Sears out of tradition

The couple renewed their vows in 2016 and used the occasion to raise money for children’s charities

Dolly Parton loved her husband Carl Thomas Dean so much, she married him twice — in two completely different wedding dresses.

The couple, who met at a laundromat on Parton’s first day in Nashville in 1964 and eloped two years later on May 30, 1966, were originally supposed to have a much bigger ceremony.

“We had planned a wedding, and the reason we went to Ringgold [Ga.] is because I didn’t want it in the Tennessee papers that we got married,” Parton explained in an April 2023 Monica Pearson One on Oneinterview. “I had just signed a contract and the record label wanted me to wait for a year to get married.”

Instead, Parton and Dean exchanged vows in a small Baptist church with little fanfare. Parton wore a short, white dress with a high neckline, while Dean donned a simple suit. “No people there, just the preacher and his wife, the witness, and Mama and Carl and I,” Parton explained to The Boot in March 2016.

After Dean died in March 2025, Parton visited the Georgia church where they wed in honor of what would have been their 59th wedding anniversary in May of that year. The singer told Fox News’ America Reports that she and Dean made that trip “in and around our anniversary every year since we were married.”

“So I thought, well, I have got to go back and just take a picture on that — on the same steps at that same church,” Parton said, adding that she felt like “he was there with me.”

Parton died of cancer in August 2026, more than a year after her husband. Below, here’s everything to know about Dolly Parton’s wedding dress.

She opted for a short wedding dress

Parton’s wedding dress matched the understated vibe of her nuptials. “I didn’t have a big, long wedding dress when we got married,” she told PEOPLE in May 2016.

Instead, the Steel Magnolias star opted for a short, white A-line frock with a high neckline and short sleeves. While unconventional, the gown’s shorter hemline was not unheard of in the ‘60s, with celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn, Mia Farrow and Yoko Ono further popularizing the style.

She incorporated her love of gloves

Parton was known for wearing gloves with her costumes. She also wore them on her wedding day, in addition to a short veil and a pair of ivory pumps.

Her creative director of more than 30 years, Steve Summers, explained to InStyle in November 2019 that her signature accessory is a matter of preference. “People always ask ... ‘what’s wrong with her hands?’ ” he said. “She doesn’t like them! It’s a normal ... thing.”

Her mom handmade her dress

Parton was adamant about having her mom, Avie Lee Parton, present for her nuptials. “I said, ‘I’ve got to have momma there,’ ” the singer told Local 3 in May 2012.

She later revealed to The Boot that it was Avie Lee who was behind the simple-yet-stunning creation. “Mom went with us, and mom made me a white dress,” she recalled to the outlet.

According to Parton, her mother also provided her with a Bible with “some flowers on it.”

Her rings were from Sears

Though Parton was on the verge of becoming a megastar, her wedding jewelry had humble origins.

“When my husband and I got married back in 1966, we didn’t have the money to buy anything, but my mother-in-law, Carl’s mother, she had a credit at Sears, a charge account,” Parton explained to Vogue in December 2024. “So we bought our rings at Sears on her account.”

Little by little, Parton and Dean were able to pay his mother back each month for their rings, which Parton kept even after hitting the big time. “I was never willing to change them for a bigger stone,” she told the publication. “Even though it’s just half a carat, it’s just a tiny little piece, they were personal.”

Years later, when she lost one of the stones, Parton replaced it — but tried to replicate her original purchase. “We went back to Sears,” she revealed. “Even though we could have afforded it, we charged it. We paid on it, so it would feel like it was still the original.”

Since her wedding rings were smaller than her other bling, Parton had a second band made, which was engraved with “May 30, ‘66.”

“I think it gives it a little more oomph, so that it didn’t look so tiny compared to other jewelry,” she told the outlet. “I love, love, love these rings together, and wouldn’t trade them for nothing.”

When Parton and Dean renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary on May 30, 2016, Parton took the opportunity to go all out in the wardrobe department.

“I’ll have a beautiful wedding dress,” she told PEOPLE of her plans, adding, “We’ve got a suit for him, so we’re going to dress up and take a bunch of pictures.”

Photos of the dress have not been publicly released, as Parton sold the rights to them at auction, with the funds going to children’s charities, per The Boot.

“In all honesty, the only way I was able to get Carl to do any of this in the first place was that it was a great opportunity for us to raise money for some very worthy causes,” she shared.

Summers was behind the 2016 design. According to the costume designer, it’s easy to “overwhelm” Parton’s frame, so a “very cinched waist” is one of his “non-negotiables” when making her clothes.

“That makes her look very proportioned,” he told WBIR in November 2025.

Per Summers, their design process is also a collaborative one. “She always chimes in. She has the last word on everything,” he added.

In honor of the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary in 2016, both Parton’s dress and Dean’s suit from their big day were put on display.

Fans were able to see the items in person at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., at the performer’s Chasing Rainbows Museum.

Due to a new price increase announced by the U.S. Postal Service, Americans will have to pay more to ship their parcels this fall.

Millions of consumers are expected to start mailing presents and packages in advance of the hectic holiday season, which coincides with the surge. Starting on Oct. 4, USPS intends to temporarily increase the cost of several of its better-known shipping services.

Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select will all be impacted by the seasonal surcharge. However, since the price hike is set to expire on Jan. 17, 2027, users won't be forced to pay the higher pricing indefinitely.

• USPS' recent policy change could cause your taxes to be filed late

• USPS announces ban on shipments from multibillion-dollar industry over safety concerns

The Postal Regulatory Commission must yet approve the suggested modifications before they can be implemented.

The USPS's new rates will take effect at 12 a.m. CT on Oct. 4 and return to normal at 12 a.m. CT on Jan. 17, assuming regulators accept them.

The temporary increase, according to USPS, is intended to offset the additional expenses associated with managing a spike in parcels during the busiest holiday season.

“This temporary price adjustment is to help cover extra handling costs to ensure a successful peak season. This seasonal adjustment will bring prices for the Postal Service’s retail and commercial customers in line with competitive practices," the agency said.

The service, package weight, and distance traveled will determine how much more Americans will pay. When shipping within Zones 1 through 4, retail customers will pay an additional 50 cents for Priority Mail and Ground Advantage packages up to three pounds.

Packages weighing between 11 and 25 pounds will cost an extra $1.25, and those weighing between 26 and 70 pounds will cost an extra $3.90.

The cost of Priority Mail shipments to Zones 5 through 9 will increase by $1 for parcels up to 3 pounds and by $4.30 for those weighing 11 to 25 pounds.

Priority Mail items weighing between 26 and 70 pounds are subject to an extra $9.10 charge when they travel to specified zones. While other Flat Rate products will increase by $1, Large Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes will cost an extra $2.10.

Customers who use Priority Mail Express will see some of the largest increases. Packages weighing between 26 and 70 pounds that are being transported to zones 5 through 9 will see a $20.80 increase in retail costs.

More moderate hikes will be applied to smaller Express shipments, with items weighing up to three pounds moving within Zones 1 through 4 starting at $1.40.

Tim Curry has died at the age of 80. While his death was reported on August 26, Curry died on August 25, the same day Dolly Parton died at the same age.

TMZ reports that Curry died on late on the night of August 25 in his Los Angeles home after struggling with health issues ever since a stroke in 2012. As of last year, Curry was still unable to walk.

Tributes are flooding in for the actor who rose to fame through his iconic performance as Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He went on to deliver more memorable performances as Pennywise in the original It series, Wadsworth the Butler in Clue, Rooster in Annie, and more, cementing himself as an onscreen legend.

Curry’s Clue costar, Michael McKean, paid tribute on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying, “My last conversation with Tim Curry was about life and love and laughter. The grim physical state he found himself in has now ended, a blessing. Our blessing was that we had Tim Curry in our lives. RIP, my friend.”

Jillian Bell said Curry inspired her to become an actor.

“I’m devastated,” she wrote on Instagram. “This is the person who made me want to be an actor. The last 10 minutes of Clue, it was all on him to deliver the ending and he devoured every frame. It became my favorite movie of all time and still remains in that position. I realized that character actors got to have all the fun. They can be wild and outrageous and do unforgivable things and live deliciously. He gave us so much in his career. He terrified us in It, he made us laugh in Clue and Home Alone 2, he made us sing in Annie and Rocky Horror Picture Show. And the risks he took in his career were one of a kind. He was beautiful and weird and dark and light all at the same time. And I loved him. I got to meet him once and he was just as sweet and cheeky as I had hoped. I got to tell him what he meant to me. I didn’t know the man, but I feel like each performance gave me a piece of him that I will cherish forever.”

Glee‘s Kevin McHale, who just joined the cast of Broadway’s Rocky Horror Show as Brad on August 25, posted a photo of Curry on his Instagram story with a broken heart emoji as the caption.

Tom Selleck is slated to return to TV screens for the first time since his hit show Blue Bloods was canceled.

Selleck, 81, will guest star on a currently untitled Apple TV+ comedy. The show stars Elizabeth Banks and Ted Danson, the latter of whom starred with Selleck in the 1987 film Three Men and a Baby.

The role marks Selleck’s first since the CBS series Blue Bloods was canceled in 2024. Selleck starred on all 14 seasons of the police procedural as Frank Reagan, New York Police Commissioner and patriarch of a multigenerational family of police officers.

The final Blue Bloods episode aired in December 2024 despite protestations from the show’s stars.

Since the show’s conclusion, Selleck has spoken out about his efforts to keep the series going.

“Blue Bloods was a labor of love… I think for everybody,” the Magnum, P.I. star said on a recent episode of Ted Danson’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast.

“The real truth to that is in the last year of [the series], at our last family dinner, everybody wanted to come back. We’d already taken a 25 percent cut in salary,” Selleck admitted, adding that they had “done all sorts of things to keep the show going.”

Still, CBS chose to axe the show, announcing in 2023 that the 14th season would be its last.

Touting the show’s viewership success, Selleck claimed that “out of the top 100 shows on broadcast television, Blue Bloods was number six in our fifteenth year.”

“Nobody wanted to leave. Everybody was gonna stay on,” he said. “That’s hard to get. It may be some kind of record to have the same cast intact for that length of time.”

Blue Bloods also starred Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes and Len Cariou. Following the series finale, the cast bid an emotional farewell to the long-running drama.

Selleck appeared on all 14 seasons of ‘Blue Bloods’ (CBS)

Selleck previously expressed his disappointment over the show’s cancellation. “I’m kind of frustrated. During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful,” he told TV Insider in 2024.

“I’m not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, ‘Get off my lawn!’” he said. “I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe.”

Explaining the decision to cancel Blue Bloods once and for all, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach previously insisted that the network “loves” the cast’s “passion for the show,” but “all shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule.”

“We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show,” she continued. “We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give the show the send off it deserves.”

Blue Bloods debuted in 2010, with its season 14 renewal making it one of the network’s longest-running procedurals.
