NBC decided to steer its musical special *Wicked: One Wonderful Night* down a decidedly apolitical path.

At the tail end of Thursday's two-hour broadcast, *Wicked *and *Wicked: For Good *star Marissa Bode appeared on stage to introduce her screen sister Cynthia Erivo's command performance of the musical's high-flying anthem, "Defying Gravity." Bode reminded the packed auditorium at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles that *Wicked *is "filled with so many incredible songs, but there is one that stands out."

"It's connected with so many people from all over the world. I'm talking, of course, about 'Defying Gravity,'" she continued. "The song is an ode to authenticity and about believing in yourself no matter what obstacles the world puts in your way. Performing 'Defying Gravity,' please welcome the incredible Cynthia Erivo." But that's not exactly how Bode's introduction played out during the special's live taping.

The Sept. 24 recording, which was attended by **, included additional comments that were cut from Thursday's broadcast. In Bode's full introduction, she added that the song's paean to "authenticity" and "believing in yourself" extended to standing up to a "power-hungry dictator."**

EW has reached out to representatives for NBC and Bode for comment.

Indeed, the two-part film, based on the stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, contains decidedly anti-authoritarian themes, with its "Wicked" Witch of the West (Erivo) being branded a traitor by a corrupt despot (Jeff Goldblum's Wizard) after she uncovers a secretive plot being executed against the fictional Oz's animal citizens.

Bode's cut comment clearly pointed to this narrative fact. Elphaba is an outspoken champion of civil rights who opposes the Wizard's two-faced treachery, and "Defying Gravity" is the apotheosis of this rebellion within the musical. But Bode's pointed delivery, and the reaction of the crowd, suggested that the comment carried an evident double meaning in the current political climate.**

Bode has been outspokenly political since her rise to fame for portraying Nessarose Thropp in *Wicked*. The actress, who uses a wheelchair, is a champion of disability rights, particularly as they intersect with the movement to uplift Black lives.

Just two weeks before the taping of *One Wonderful Night*, Bode took to her TikTok account to defend a post construed by some of her followers as controversial, in which she rejected "being called hateful because I don't feel an ounce of sympathy" for the slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whom Bode described as "a man whose whole career was built on being a bigot."

Bode posted that TikTok on Sept. 11, the day after Kirk was shot while discussing gun violence at Utah Valley University. On Sept. 17, ABC indefinitely suspended *Jimmy Kimmel Live! *after host Jimmy Kimmel stated in the previous night's monologue that the "MAGA gang" were "desperately trying to characterize" Tyler Robinson, the alleged perpetrator of Kirk's death, as "anything other than one of them." After intense pushback, the network lifted Kimmel's suspension, with his return to air occurring on Sept. 23, the day before the taping of *One Wonderful Night.***

Bode was one of number of stars from the films to appear on the special. Erivo joined her Good Witch counterpart Ariana Grande in several duets, and all three actresses performed alongside and engaged in banter with Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang, and Ethan Slater.

Jonathan Bailey, who plays the dashing Prince Fiyero, was not present for the live taping, as he was wrapped up in production in England. But he did join the aforementioned stars in a separately-recorded cast conversation that played between the night's musical numbers. There were also surprise guests, including the stars of the original Broadway production, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who sang a touching rendition of the closing number "For Good" with Erivo and Grande.**

Following its Thursday night premiere on NBC, *Wicked: One Wonderful Night* begins streaming on Peacock Friday.**

NBC is treating *Wicked *fans who just can't wait for the upcoming premiere of *Wicked: For Good *to a most festivating celebration of all things Ozian. *Wicked: One Wonderful Night *will reunite the major cast of the 2024 blockbuster smash and its upcoming sequel for a night of singing, dancing, sneak peeks and previews. But one shining star of the musical duology won't be joining in the merriment - at least on stage.

Jonathan Bailey was not able to join his costars on stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sept. 24 for the taping of the TV special due to prior engagements — including being in production on one project and a press photoshoot, both in London — that put his schedule in conflict.

*Wicked *stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, and Ethan Slater will all appear on stage in the production which airs tonight. A sneak peek released earlier this week showed Yang and Slater filling Bailey's shoes to perform "Dancing Through Life."**

But never fear, * *has learned that Bailey did film at least one segment for *One Wonderful Night *so Prince Fiyero's presence will be felt on the special.

It has been a busy autumn for the English actor, who is looking forward not just to *Wicked: For Good*, but the upcoming fourth season of Shonda Rhimes' regency drama *Bridgerton*. And, oh yeah, he was just crowed PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive 2025.

Jason Hetherington

"It's a huge honor. Obviously I'm incredibly flattered. And it's completely absurd," Bailey shared after accepting the honor, taking over from last year's winner, John Krasinski.

In a video featuring his *Wicked *costars reacting to his new title, Goldblum declared Bailey "the sexiest man not only on this planet, but in the solar system, in the universe, and any multiverse."**

Not all the magic made it on TV for *Wicked: One Wonderful Night*.

Though taped in front of a live audience, NBC's two-hour television special actually filmed for almost four hours on Sept. 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood (the same theater where the Oscars take place).

Much of that extra time was spent setting the stage for the next performance, but there was plenty to keep guests entertained between takes. Rather than looking at their watches, the fan-filled audience was thrilled any time a performer was asked to do a second take on a song.

Here's what you didn't see from home.

An unintentional "Wizard and I" and "Defying Gravity" mashup

Cynthia Erivo is a renowned Tony winner with hundreds of Broadway performances under her belt — meaning she knows how to power through a flub with the audience none the wiser. And that's exactly what happened during her initial run at "The Wizard and I."

Though vocally on point, something rang odd about the bridge of the song: Erivo accidentally started singing part of "Defying Gravity." It's an understandable flub, given that when Elphaba sings of her future being "unlimited," the orchestration sounds almost identical to the Act I finale.

Even more adorableness from Remington

At most tapings, there is someone tasked with keeping the audience energized throughout the long taping period. During many of the filming breaks, the audience emcee would bring up people in the audience wearing elaborate costumes — including young Remington, whom the audience would later see become an instant sensation filling in as the Elphaba role during Ariana Grande's performance of "Popular."

Just one example of the 4-year-old's effortless charm: The emcee called him to the steps of the stage and asked "How old are you?" To which Remington, apparently mishearing the question, replied, "I'm good."

Remington's mom revealed it wasn't even the movie that made her son fall in love with the world of *Wicked*, it was seeing all the branded merch at their local Target.

Prior to the "Popular" performance, Grande spent some time chatting with Remington, asking to borrow his broomstick to place it aside during their performance so she could hand him a wand instead, but promising to return it — which she ultimately almost forgot to do until reminded by the audience.

Free dance lessons

Hollywood isn't above paying audience members. Tapings are often long days and the energy of those there just for fun may wane in hour 7 of cheering on the host of *America's Got the Voice Warriors*. But that was not the case at *Wicked: One Wonderful Night*. (In fact, we hear people were selling their tickets for thousands of dollars!)

That makes it all the more impressive that the studio audience — including Erivo's partner Lena Waithe and a very eager Frankie Grande, there with mom Joan to support his little sister — quickly learned some choreography and prop work using flowers minutes before cameras rolled on the opening number.

It probably helped that the routine was taught by *Wicked* and *Wicked: For Good* choreographer Christopher Scott.

A "thank u" to Ariana

In addition to the costume contests and overdosing on Remington cuteness, the audience emcee played music during the downtime — including Grande's hit "thank u, next." The song got an instant reaction from the crowd, who began singing along.

A few lines in, Grande poked her head out from the side curtain with a face of excitement, which elicited a giant cheer from the audience.

Defying gravity takes time

Cynthia Erivo flies above the audience during 'Wicked: One Wonderful Night'

Cynthia Erivo flies above the audience during 'Wicked: One Wonderful Night'.

Though much of *Wicked* and *Wicked: For Good* was shot practically, there's still a lot of movie magic needed to, say, make someone fly.

Cathy Rigby makes it look easy (at 72, she's still flying high over audiences as Peter Pan), but performing while harnessed is no joke. So it's perhaps no surprise that Erivo's "Defying Gravity" was shot in segments.

Though every note was pitch perfect both times, Erivo actually flew over the Dolby twice to sing the final portion of the modern classic — to the thrill of the audience, some of whom were in tears watching the star soar both physically and vocally.

Deleting a dictator

Speaking of "Defying Gravity," at the live taping when Nessarose actress Marissa Bode introduced her movie sister's big number, she included a warning about the importance of standing up to a "power-hungry dictator" that was cut from the NBC broadcast. The statement had a clear connection to the musical's plot surrounding the tyrannical Wizard and Elphaba's rebellion. But the politically outspoken Bode's words carried even greater weight in the current political climate and the audience cheered loudly when she made the not-so-subtle declaration.**

A second take of Babs and Judy

*Wicked: One Wonderful Night* concluded with the best rendition of "Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again" since Barbara Streisand and Judy Garland first performed it on *The Judy Garland Show* in 1963. And audiences got to see it twice!

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande duet during 'Wicked: One Wonderful Night'

After the first take (again with tears in the audience), the telecast's director came out and told his stars it was perfect. But Ervio and Grande weren't content. After looking at each other briefly, they declared they wanted the pleasure of singing it again. To the shock of no one, the entire room was happy to oblige.**

Christmas is as much about memories and tradition as it is celebration and gift-giving. It's a holiday that brings its own stresses, but it's also important to carve out some time for the season's cozier pleasures — a heavy blanket, a hot cup of cocoa, and a movie that reminds you of simpler times.

Below, we've assembled 15 movies that deliver the cozy factor, from vintage soul-warmers like *It's a Wonderful Life* to stop-motion Rankin/Bass classics to more recent additions to the Christmas canon, like *The Holdovers *and *Christmas Eve in Miller's Point*.

Light a candle, roast some chestnuts, and scroll down for **'s favorite cozy Christmas movies.

The Shop Around the Corner (1940)

James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan in 'The Shop Around the Corner'

James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan in 'The Shop Around the Corner'.

These days, Ernst Lubitsch's *The Shop Around the Corner* is mostly remembered as the inspiration for *You've Got Mail,* the maddening Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan rom-com that's become something of a Christmas classic in its own right. Both movies follows ostensible rivals who don't realize they've also been communicating as anonymous pen pals.

*You've Got Mail *sparkles thanks to Hanks and Ryan's chemistry, but there's more depth and specificity in *The Shop Around the Corner*, which stars James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan as feuding sales clerks in Budapest leather goods store, a shop so cozy you can practically smell the rich, earthy leather.

"Hanks in *Mail* is lovable, engaging, deeply sympathetic. In short, he's not a heck of a lot more complex than his golden retriever," reads an EW ode of the film from 1999. "Stewart in *Shop* is bitter and hopeful, a jerk and a mensch, scared and serene — all the things a smart, struggling young guy on the cusp of love would be."

It goes on to call *Shop* "one of the most perceptive movies ever made about the workplace," adding, "It sees employees as members of a fractious family and acknowledges that each has a story worth telling (the focus on two potential lovers seems mere happy accident)."

It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE

'It's a Wonderful Life'.

*It's a Wonderful Life*'s dominance as the alpha and omega of holiday classics is sort of funny when you consider how much of it is about shattered dreams, despair, and resignation. But isn't the hope for angelic intervention and a renewed perspective a gift unto itself? Speaking with EW a few years back, stars like Dolly Parton, Claire Danes, and Mary Steenburgen all cited it as one of their favorite holiday movies.

The truth, of course, is that *It's a Wonderful Life'*s story isn't remembered so fondly for its story so much as its cathartic ending, which can't help but make one grateful for whoever they're currently cuddling.

"It fully embraces both the love and humor and compassion, all the positive elements of Christmastime," film historian Jeremy Arnold told EW in 2020. "But it does not shy away from the darker aspects of the season, so it feels very honest."**

Christmas is that time of year that allows even the most jaded adults to feel like kids again — if only for a moment.

The holiday classic that perhaps best encapsulates that sensation is *Miracle on 34th Street*, George Seaton's 1947 film about a Macy's department store Santa who turns out to be none other than Kris Kringle. (He's even forced to prove it in a courtroom.)

"To see Santa Claus proven as real? It's a great scene," said an EW editor in 2016. "Everyone wants to see their childhood continue. The film allows us to believe… and have a happy ending where yes, Santa is real and the world is a nice place."

White Christmas (1954)

VistaVision, a widescreen film format renowned for producing sharp images suited for the big screen, is making a comeback due to recent successes like *The Brutalist* (2024) and *One Battle After Another* (2025). The first movie to be filmed in VistaVision? *White Christmas*, Michael Curtiz's ecstatic musical about a song-and-dance duo working to save a Vermont lodge with the help of two mellifluous sisters.

More than 70 years later, *White Christmas* still looks gorgeous, positively popping with berry reds, snowy whites, and minty greens. It's as easy on ears as it is on the eyes, with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen crooning through the title song, as well as enduring hits like "Sisters" and "Count Your Blessings (Instead of Sheep)."

RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS

The stop-motion spectacles of Rankin/Bass are the platonic ideal of Christmas coziness. And no list of holiday musts is complete without *Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, *one of the earliest creations of the beloved production company.

Is it less polished than many of the Christmas specials that followed? A little longer in the tooth? Oh, sure. But, for many, it was the first movie to crack open the myth of Santa Claus and build an entire world around his workshop.

It helps, too, that it's so peculiar. All those Misfit Toys, strange cadences, and ramshackle songs lodge themselves in young, impressionable minds in such a way that makes them impossible to forget (and enticing to revisit).

The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974)

The Heat Miser in 'The Year Without a Santa Claus'

RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS

Like *Rudolph,* the 1974 special *The Year Without a Santa Claus* folds new characters into Rankin/Bass' Christmas universe while also telling an entirely new story. This time, Mrs. Claus (Shirley Booth) recruits a motley crew of elves and reindeer to give a grumpy, spurned Santa (Mickey Rooney) a break after he becomes disillusioned by the world's lack of love and appreciation.

Heat Miser (George S. Irving) and Snow Miser (Dick Shawn), two of Rankin/Bass' most inspired creations, steal the show with their jaunty song-and-dance routine, which still hits all these years later.

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas (1977)

EMMET OTTER'S JUG-BAND CHRISTMAS, Harvey (performed by Jim Henson), Charlie (performed by Richard Hunt), Emmett Otter (performed by Jerry Nelson), Wendell (performed by Dave Goelz), 1977

'Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas'.

Jim Henson Studios

*Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas* is among Jim Henson and Co.'s most evocative and immersive creations, a heartwarming tale set on tree-lined riverbanks, icy ponds, and wood-paneled shanties shot with such flair that it's easy to forget you're looking at miniatures.

It follows a sweet otter named Emmet (Jerry Nelson) and his widowed mother, Alice (Marilyn Sokol), each as fuzzy and huggable as can be. They want to surprise each other with Christmas gifts amid hard times, and join a talent show with the hopes of securing a cash prize. Unfortunately, they'll have to square off against the Riverbottom Gang's gaggle of weasels, snakes, and muskrats (who somehow manage to still be so dang cute).

Themes of community and sacrifice abound, as do bluegrass ditties penned by Paul Williams.

A Christmas Story (1983)

A CHRISTMAS STORY, Peter Billingsley, Jeff Gillen, 1983.

'A Christmas Story'.

everett collection

You'd be forgiven for being a little sick of *A Christmas Story*, Bob Clark's beloved tale about 9-year-old Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) and the Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle he so fiercely desires. For years, TBS and TNT have made it inescapable with 24-hour marathons beginning on Christmas Eve.

Give it a break for a year or two, though, and you'll return to find it fits just as snug as it used to, its tale of Midwestern holiday mishaps laying over your shoulders like that threadbare sweater you can't bear to thrift.

"One of the best things about *A Christmas Story," *EW previously observed, "has always been its lack of holly-strewn sentiment: the light that shines brightest in it is not the standard glow of lovingly-strung Christmas bulbs, but the wanton plastic leg lamp, wrapped in fishnet and saucily topped with bordello tassels, that Ralphie Parker's dad so proudly displays in the family-room window."

It's amusing how that leg lamp, once so scandalous, has now become as common a Christmas decoration as snow globes and nutcrackers.

Metropolitan (1990)

METROPOLITAN, Bryan leder, Allison Rutledge-Parisi, Carolyn Farina, Chris Eigeman, Edward Clements, Dylan Hundley, Elizabeth Thompson, Will Kempe, Isabel Gillies, Taylor Nichols

The ensemble cast of 'Metropolitan'.

You won't find Santa, Rudolph, or the Grinch in *Metropolitan*, the directorial debut of refined filmmaker Whit Stillman. Christmas lingers in the periphery of this "identity comedy," which centers on the relationships, banter, and after-hours arguments of upper-crust New Yorkers on vacation from college during the holiday.

Much of this lovely, cerebral film unfolds in a cozy Manhattan high-rise, a Christmas tree twinkling in the background as snow falls outside. One memorable scene takes us to a sumptuous Mass on Christmas Eve, "Come All Ye Faithful" filling the vast cathedral.

Traditional holiday themes of generosity, salvation, and tradition are mostly absent here. Rather, *Metropolitan* evokes the youthful experience of being home, avoiding family, and clinging to friends during the holiday break, when responsibility remains over the horizon and your whole life is still ahead of you.

Angela Lansbury stars in 1996's *Mrs. Santa Claus,* a mostly-forgotten gem that first aired on CBS in 1996. A story of female independence, it finds Lansbury's titular wife mapping out a new, more efficient route for Santa (Charles Durning, who played the gift-giver five times in his career). To test the route, she leaves the North Pole, only to be waylaid by a storm in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1910.

There, Mrs. Claus becomes involved in the women's suffragette movement, helping to organize a strike demanding labor reforms (and help some locals find love).**

The legendary Jerry Herman (*Hello, Dolly!, Mame*) composed the whimsical score, which exudes Christmas cheer across the film's many song and dance numbers, many of which unfold in the snow-crusted thoroughfares of its charmingly vintage vision of New York City.**

There's no shortage of snowed-in romances out there, but you might've missed Roger Young's made-for-TV romance *One Special Night*. Julie Andrews and James Garner, whose screen history dates back to the 1960s, star as widowers who spark a late-in-life connection while trapped in an abandoned cabin during a winter storm.

It's a familiar premise that's elevated by the chemistry of its leads. You may know where it's all heading, but that doesn't blunt the impact of its climactic moment, which unfolds on Christmas Day. Andrews and Garner deftly convey years of love and loss, as well as the difficulties and rewards of moving on. ****

Polar Express (2004)

'The Polar Express'.

This one's for the Zoomers, as the uncanny motion-capture animation of Robert Zemeckis' *The Polar Express *creeped out many older audience members. But kids *love* this movie, and, even if it creeps you out, it nevertheless remains an "intricate, exploratory, indefinably askew interpretation," as articulated by EW back in 2007.

Set on Christmas Eve, this adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's beloved 1985 children's book follows a young boy whose waning belief in Santa Claus is reinvigorated after hopping on a magical train to the North Pole. It's bursting with warmth and wonder (there's even a song about hot chocolate.) And Tom Hanks, a repository of good vibes, plays no less than five different roles (including Santa Claus).**

Christmas, Again (2014)

Kentucker Audley in 'Christmas, Again'.

The tragically under-seen *Christmas, Again, *written and directed by Charles Poekel, is a subtle film about Noel (Kentucker Audley), a newly-single Christmas tree salesman whose brief encounter with Lydia (Hannah Gross) brings a spark of magic into the lives of these troubled souls.

It's a simple story that about small joys, like slotting holly into a wreath or how a Christmas tree can light up a child's eyes.**

Everyone's a little sad in *The Holdovers*, Alexander Payne's charmingly sour comedy about a student stuck at his New England boarding school over the holidays with only his grouchy professor (Paul Giamatti) and the school cook (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) for company. And that's appropriate; coziness and sorrow are not mutually exclusive.

"The film's three lost souls all need someone, and as their secrets trickle out, they become the ragtag family they so desperately crave. Even if only for a little while," reads EW's review. "The holidays are inherently melancholy for so many — the season's emphasis on togetherness simultaneously highlighting our most painful losses. It is through this bittersweet relationship with the season that these characters connect."

Where to watch *The Holdovers*: Amazon Prime (to rent)

Christmas Eve in Miller's Point (2024)

'Christmas Eve in Miller's Point'

'Christmas Eve in Miller's Point'.

The exhilarating *Christmas Eve in Miller's Point* wastes no time in assembling its massive cast of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and pet lizards. An ensemble piece in the truest sense, Tyler Taormina's film captures the joys and exhaustions of holiday gatherings via a Long Island family's annual Christmas Eve shindig.

There are a few through lines here — an ailing grandma and a bit of teenage rebellion — but the film feels most alive when Taormina shakes up the little snow globe he's populated and lets his characters bounce off of each other.

Come for the holly-strewn chaos, but stay for Michael Cera and Gregg Turkington's amusing turns as a pair of straight-faced cops.

Where to watch *Christmas Eve in Miller's Point*: AMC+**

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Aaron Rai will take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the Abu Dhabi Championship as he seeks a first title on the European tour in five years.

On a low-scoring day at Yas Links, Rai shot 6-under 66 in the third round Saturday to move to 20-under par for the week in the next-to-last event of the 2025 season.

Nicolai Hojgaard (65) and Tommy Fleetwood (67), the winner in 2017 and 2018 when the event was held at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, were tied for second place and Nacho Elvira (65) was a shot further back.

No. 2-ranked Rory McIlroy, the leader of the season-long Race to Dubai standings, surged toward contention with six birdies in his first 11 holes but his round stalled and he posted a 66 for 14 under, six strokes off the lead.

Rai's second and most recent win on the European tour came in 2020 at the Scottish Open. The 30th-ranked Englishman won the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour in August last year.

After an eventful first night of NBA Cup action, the league's in-season tournament returned with a slate of games highlighted by a pair of nationally televised Western Conference clashes.

The Spurs got arguably the loudest win of the night after bookending halftime with a pair of runs against the Houston Rockets. Victor Wembanyama was again his game-breaking self with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks, though he also had help from Stephon Castle (14 points, 13 assists), Harrison Barnes (24 points) and Julian Champagnie (22 points, five steals).

De'Aaron Fox still hasn't played a game for San Antonio this season, but they're 6-2 and now leading Group C in the West.

The Golden State Warriors were also without an All-Star point guard in Stephen Curry, and unsurprisingly felt that absence much more in a 129-104 loss to the Denver Nuggets. They were overwhelmed by Nikola Jokić and his 26 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists in a fairly simple night at the office for the three-time MVP.

Elsewhere, Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped 41 points as the Bucks handed the Chicago Bulls their second loss of the season, while the Dallas Mavericks — missing Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving — got rolled by the Memphis Grizzlies 118-104.

A 40-point Minnesota Timberwolves win over the Utah Jazz was also notable because a) it was such a blowout that Minnesota moved ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the point differential fight and b) the green court was so bright the glow was legitimately reflecting onto the faces of people on the court.

Days of Our Lives is marking its 60th anniversary this week with the highly anticipated Dr. Tom Horton free clinic gala, and Peacock has released the first look at the milestone event.

The official Days of Our Lives YouTube channel posted a preview for the episodes airing between November 10 through the 14th.

The promo opens up with Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly (Ashley Puzemis) sitting down with Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and Marie (Maree Cheatham) at the Horton house for an interview. Tate tells them, "We really appreciate you sitting down with us," to which Marie responds, "Now, what kind of stories do you want to hear?"

At University Hospital, Chad (Billy Flynn) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) are anxiously waiting for news about Chad's son, Thomas, after he ran into the street and appears to have been hit by a car. Chad is heard asking "Hey, how's Thomas. Is he okay?"

In the town square Lani (Sal Stowers) is visiting with Abe (James Reynolds) discussing Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) sharing, "He confided in Paulina instead of you. Did you ever stop to ask yourself why?"

At the Brady Pub, Sami (Alison Sweeney) is in town, reconnecting with her son Will (Chandler Massey). He notices a ring on her finger and asks, "This means you're engaged?"

The preview ends with a scene from the star-studded gala, surrounded by friends and family, Jennifer gives a speech, sharing, "University Hospital brought the community together for laughter, charity, and hope. So, with the opening of the Dr. Tom Horton Free Clinic, my grandfather's legacy will continue to serve the community all the days of our lives.

Meanwhile, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) appears to have been kidnapped, as a man takes off a blindfold she says, "Where the hell am I?"

A second user added, "I've been looking forward to watching this week's episodes. I love seeing the returning characters that bring back memories from so long ago. I've been a DOOL fan from day one so I have a lot of very fond (and some not as fond) memories to call on." With a third user sharing, "Wow! Looks like a lot going down. Looking forward to all the Hortons. Hope we get some interaction between Will and Ari. And Sami and Johnny. I always love seeing Marie, Mike, Eli and Lani. Who could put up with Kristen long enough to want to kidnap her?"

Days of Our Lives' 60th anniversary celebration unfolds next week, streaming weekdays exclusively on Peacock.
