While the pranksters behind the MAGA hat incident told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that they used eyelash glue on the hats and the adhesive could be eliminated using dish soap when the fowls fly again to their coop, animal welfare advocates condemned the act as a danger to the birds’ health.
“These bozos aren’t scoring any points: Silly pranks like this one are critical business that can intrude with pigeons’ potential to fly, see, and keep away from predators, so it’s no shock that no less than one pigeon used in an identical stunt has already died,” People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said in a press release. “PETA is not any stranger to provocative protests, however whatever your cause or political affiliation, pigeons must be left in peace.”

Using animals to profit humans is a disgraceful misuse of their trust in us.”

“We removed any hats that have been nonetheless in place. Many had already fallen off as a consequence of the fact that eyelash glue was used.
