Sen. Murphy calls Trump ‘a gift to Russia’

Sen. Chris Murphy stated Sunday that the Russians never stopped interfering in U.S. politics, claiming it's "pretty clear" Russians are weighing in to help the president's agenda.

"They do not simply become involved in elections," Murphy (D-Conn.) stated on CNN's "State of the Union." "They are involved every single day. And analysis of what they have been doing on Twitter since 2016 has been fairly clear. They're weighing in time and again once more in help of right-wing causes, in help of Donald Trump's political agenda."

The New York Times reported the House Intelligence Committee acquired a briefing earlier this month warning that Russia is planning to intrude in the 2020 elections in favor of Trump. "The new appearing head of intelligence has no background in intel. He is a Trump loyalist," Murphy stated, referring to Trump's new acting director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell.
