Pence aide: No sign of Russian help for Trump

Marc Brief, chief of employees to Vice President Mike Pence, stated Sunday there isn't a intelligence to help studies that the Russians try to assist Donald Trump win reelection.

"We know that overseas governments have been making an attempt to intrude in elections to try to sow chaos," Brief stated on “Fox News Sunday.“ "They have been doing that for many years and it isn't simply limited to Russia, however there's not intelligence that means that they're making an attempt to help Trump."

The comment follows a New York Times report that the House Intelligence Committee acquired a briefing earlier this month warning that Russia is planning to intrude in the 2020 elections in favor of Trump. In response to the report, the president lashed out at outgoing director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire over the briefing.

In a tweet, Trump referred to as it "another misinformation campaign" by Democrats.

Brief's remark follows similar comments from White House national safety adviser Robert O'Brien. O'Brien stated on CBS that he had not acquired a briefing "that claims that President Putin is doing anything to attempt and influence the elections in favor of President Trump."

"We just have not seen that intelligence," O'Brien stated in a "Face the Nation" interview that aired Sunday. "If it is out there, I have never seen it. I might be stunned if I have never seen it."

O'Brien additionally pushed again towards the concept Maguire was dismissed because of the briefing earlier than the House. "To start with, Joe Maguire wasn't pushed out," O'Brien stated on CBS.

“He was appearing and his term, I consider, was ending March 11 or March 2, like two weeks from now."

Brief also denied on Sunday that Maguire was fired due to the Home briefing. "His place is supposed to be completed by March 12,” Brief stated. “He isn't going to be renominated. He, in reality, when his position got here on was reluctant to serve in this position. So the administration has been on the lookout for someone persistently."

Brief did say that the president questioned Maguire over the briefing.

"The president did question him as a result of he is saying, 'Why did they get a briefing before I did?’" Brief stated on “Fox Information Sunday.“ "However on the similar time the administration has nice respect for Adm. Maguire. He is a patriot who served our administration and served our nation admirably. The president is in search of one other place to have him proceed to serve inside the Trump administration."

Through the interview, Brief as an alternative pointed to Home Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and accused him of "selective" leaking of data from the Home briefing.

"To start with, I feel it is disconcerting that the briefing that you mentioned was a categorized briefing within the House. That is certainly one of the president's considerations, is that Adam Schiff's committee continues to leak selective info," Brief stated.

"You're saying it isn't true they usually leaked it?" Wallace asked.

"No, this is fairly constant and I feel pretty clear. What I'm telling you is that was a categorised briefing that shouldn't have been mentioned," Brief stated. "The briefing the president acquired, the intelligence group has not informed us that Russia is making an attempt to reelect Donald Trump."

Showing on "Meet the Press," Brief claimed that the House Intelligence Committee was "intentionally" distorting info.

"What [Trump] believes is that the individuals leading the Home Intelligence Committee, notably Chairman Schiff, deliberately distort info and leak info that's false."
