Debate performance has hurt Biden, Rep. Clyburn says


House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) stated Sunday that former Vice President Joe Biden may need "suffered" from his efficiency in earlier debates, costing him stronger finishes in early-voting states.

"I've heard from a whole lot of the folks that they thought that Joe Biden might have accomplished extra to interact ... in the course of the debates and thought he might have finished more to say why he can be deserving. And so, I feel he suffered from that because he didn't do enough," Clyburn stated on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Biden finished fourth and fifth in Iowa and New Hampshire, respectively, and claimed a second-place finish in Nevada on Saturday.

The former vice chairman has pointed to Saturday‘s South Carolina main as essential for his marketing campaign. He told CBS' "Face the Nation" in an interview airing Sunday that he remained confident that he'll win the state.

Clyburn on Sunday stated Tuesday’s debate in South Carolina — 4 days earlier than the state votes — shall be crucial for Biden, including that he thought the massive measurement of earlier debates "unnerved" the former vice chairman.

"I feel that at the moment you had, what, 17 or 18 individuals on the stage. [California Sen.] Kamala Harris, I feel, unnerved him a little bit together with her question," Clyburn stated.
