Tim Scott says Trump faces two main threats: Trump and Bernie

Sen. Tim Scott stated Monday morning that President Donald Trump has two principal threats to his reelection campaign: Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

In an interview on “CBS This Morning,” host Gayle King asked Scott (R-S.C.) if he thought the Democratic frontrunner Sanders was in reality the most important menace to Trump in November.

“I might say that the most important menace to President Trump is President Trump,” Scott stated. “If he’s on his recreation, as he was on the State of the Union, I don’t assume there’s a candidate in the nation that may beat him. If there is a second selection, different than himself, it will be Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders brings that outdoors recreation similarly that President Trump did in 2016.”

The comments from Scott seemed to echo a press release Trump made earlier Monday to reporters while on his trip to India. “I truly assume he can be harder than a lot of the other candidates because he is like me but I have a much greater base,” Trump stated of Sanders.

Requested who the simplest candidate for Trump to beat in the basic election, Scott provided former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg.

“He has so many difficult headlines,” Scott stated. “The narratives for, as the president calls him, ‘Little Mike’ would be straightforward for President Trump to take a robust advantage.”

Scott’s comments come on the eve of the South Carolina Democratic debate and 6 days forward of the South Carolina main, the final before Tremendous Tuesday.
