President Donald Trump’s threatening letter through which he urged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to not be a “idiot” or a “robust guy” was not well-received, with Erdogan on Friday condemning the message as undiplomatic and saying, “We haven’t forgotten it.”
“President Trump’s letter, which didn't go hand in hand with political and diplomatic courtesy, has appeared in the media,” Erdogan stated Friday throughout a news conference concerning the Syria-Turkey cease-fire deal, in accordance with a translation. “In fact we haven’t forgotten it. It will not be proper for us to overlook it.”
The Oct. 9 letter demanded that Erdogan name off his invasion of northern Syria, warning that he can be seen as “the devil” in historical past if “good things don’t happen.” It got here after Trump had already acquired bipartisan and widespread backlash for pulling U.S. troops out of the region, smoothing the best way for the incursion.
