Rep. Katie Hill Resigns After Admitting to Inappropriate Relationship with Campaign Staffer

Rep. Katie Hill is resigning from Congress after she reportedly admitted to having an “inappropriate” relationship with a staffer.

The 32-year-old, who was a rising star within the Home Democratic freshman class, announced her resignation on Twitter Sunday. “It is with a damaged heart that at this time I announce my resignation from Congress. This is the toughest thing I've ever needed to do, but I consider it's the neatest thing for my constituents, my group, and our country,” Hill stated in a lengthy statement.

“That is what needs to happen in order that the great people who supported me will not be subjected to the ache inflicted by my abusive husband and the brutality of hateful political operatives who seem to happily provide a platform to a monster who is driving a smear campaign built round cyber exploitation,” she continued.

Hill notified U.S. Capitol Police they usually have launched an investigation into the supply of the personal photograph.

In prior statements, Hill denied allegations she had engaged in a sexual relationship together with her congressional staffer, Graham Kelly — which would be a violation of Home chamber guidelines. The Home Committee on Ethics is investigating the claim.
