Kim Kardashian West Praises the U.S. House of Representatives for Acknowledging the Armenian Genocide

Kim Kardashian West is commending a current motion by the U.S. Home of Representatives.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Home of Representatives passed a resolution to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide, which noticed roughly 1.5 million Armenians killed by the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

Following the 405-11 vote, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 39 — who has proudly embraced her Armenian heritage — praised the government for its choice in a submit on her Instagram.

“Yesterday was such an enormous victory for the Armenian individuals when the US Home Of Representatives acknowledged the Armenian Genocide!” she wrote beside a photo of herself together with her 4 youngsters during their current trip to Armenia.

Within the shot, Kim wears a black form-fitting gown as she holds son Psalm in her right arm and her daughter Chicago‘s hand together with her left. Beside her, daughter North stands and appears into the digital camera whereas son Saint flashes an enormous smile.

Like their mom, all 4 youngsters wore black outfits.

Kim’s ties to Armenia has been particularly evident as of late.

Earlier this month, her family traveled to Armenia, where Kim, Psalm, 5 months, Saint, 3½, and Chicago, 20 months, have been baptized at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat, Armenia.

The mother of 4 documented the occasion on Instagram, beginning with pictures of herself and North, 6, contained in the Etchmiadzin Cathedral in Vagharshapat.

Kim wore a long-sleeved, mermaid-style gown for the necessary occasion, while North sported an extended white two-piece outfit and an intricately beaded necklace. The two stood in front of a set of lit candles for the serene pictures ops.

“Thanks Armenia for internet hosting my household and I in such a memorable journey,” she captioned the post. “So blessed to have been baptized along with my babies at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Armenia’s principal cathedral which is usually known as the Vatican of the Armenian Apostolic Church. This church was inbuilt 303 AD.”

While it’s unclear whether or not North — who was previously baptized in Jerusalem when she was 22 months previous — was immediately involved within the current spiritual ceremony, a supply confirmed to PEOPLE that Kim and husband Kanye West‘s three youngest youngsters have been baptized Monday morning at the cathedral in Armenia.

Video footage on one Instagram account showed Kim walking to the ceremony with North and her younger siblings, adopted by sister Kourtney Kardashian and her three youngsters: Reign Aston, 4½, Penelope Scotland, 7, and Mason Dash, 9½.

The insider further divulged to PEOPLE that the sisters have been staying with their youngsters in the nearby capital city of Yerevan, stating that the “Etchmiadzin Cathedral is the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church.” (Kanye, 42, was not along for the trip.)

Throughout that same journey, Kourtney, 40, and Kim met with Armenian President Armen Sarkissia for a flowery dinner. The group was photographed in formal wear as they loved a pleasant meal and posed in entrance of the insignia for Armenia.

In addition to going to Armenia for personal reasons, Kim beforehand tweeted about why she wants to travel to her father’s family’s country of origin, writing late last month that she “hope(s) to seek methods I might help improve commerce and hopefully create jobs for Armenians which incorporates @skims production there sooner or later.”

“As a brand, we consider in embracing all individuals and as a person I've been working in the direction of broader objectives in hopes of bringing ahead the popularity of the Armenian genocide which I stay very enthusiastic about,” Kim added in a separate tweet.
