Pence dodges on officials testifying on Ukraine pressure


Vice President Mike Pence on Sunday refused to say whether or not he believed U.S. officials have been mendacity in testimony bolstering the case that President Donald Trump pressured Ukraine to research his political rivals in trade for his administration's help.

CBS "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan repeatedly requested Pence about statements made by officials beneath oath that they had information of a deal being provided that made army assist contingent on Ukraine opening an investigation concentrating on former Vice President Joe Biden.

Home Democrats have been gathering the testimony as a part of an impeachment inquiry. Pence was pressed on the matter Sunday after U.S. diplomat William Taylor advised House investigators that Trump tried to withhold army assist and refuse a White Home meeting with Ukraine's president as part of the trouble.

"I can only inform you what I do know," Pence stated on CBS, denying that there was any "quid professional quo."

Pence would not give a transparent yes or no answer when asked if witnesses have been mendacity or if he had any information of the arrangement being alleged.

"I am telling you, all of my interactions with the president, all of my conversations with [Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky], have been solely targeted on issues of significance to the American individuals, ending corruption, enlisting more European help and supporting Ukraine in a means that may restore its territorial integrity and stand by Ukraine for it sovereignty," Pence stated.
