Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's July 3 wedding really was the event of the summer. Countless celebrities made their way to Madison Square Garden for the magical evening. Amongst them was actress Mariska Hargitay, who debuted a brand new chop for the occasion.

Her hair stylist Chris McMillan shared a photo of her new 'do on Instagram. In the photo, Hargitay leaned out of a car window, showing off a tousled blunt bob with golden ends, styled in a deep side part. "fresh ✂️ for @therealmariskahargitay for the Taylor n Travis FUN," the hair stylist wrote, before adding, "Bobs can be tricky. The key for this style is the side part , texture, and BLUNT BOB."

The look is an update on her already cropped hair—Hargitay first debuted her bob in May just in time for her Broadway debut in Every Brilliant Thing.

Hargitay wore a long black gown with a halter neck for the outing. She was joined by her husband actor Peter Hermann, who can be seen snapping a picture behind Hargitay in McMillan's photo.

Hargitay and Hermann's date night at Swift's wedding comes after the actress sat next to the singer at a recent Knicks game. In a cute turn of events, Hargitay changed into a "Stevie Knicks" T-shirt to match with Swift halfway through the game.

And Swift and Hargitay's friendship goes back long before that. Swift is a huge fan of Law & Order and even named one of her cats after Hargitay's character Olivia Benson.

Back in 2014, Hargitay was one of Swift's so-called girl squad in her "Bad Blood" music video. She later joined Swift and the rest of the cast at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. “It was so fun. It’s the best music video,” Hargitay told host Alex Cooper on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast recently. “That was the most fun, being in the squad with all the cool girls and supermodels," Hargitay went on. "It was the most fun ever."

NEW YORK – Olivia Wilde has two rules for dinner parties: Don’t squander a priceless bottle of wine, and don’t start cleaning up before it’s even over.

“Enjoy your own party!” says Wilde, 42, who hosts a spicy, sozzled soirée in her R-rated marriage comedy “The Invite” (in select theaters now, nationwide July 10). “I don't like going to someone's party when I can feel them working the whole time because then I feel really guilty. Keep it easy. No work allowed!”

Like Angela, her tightly wound character, Wilde loves a cheese shop and splurging on cured meats: “People would rather have a full charcuterie board than almost anything else you're going to serve,” she says. “Just hope everybody isn’t lactose intolerant or vegan.”

Wilde's co-star Edward Norton, meanwhile, is content just to nosh on some "really good cookies."

“I’m giving away my sweet tooth here,” Norton, 54, says with a grin. “I like when someone puts little boulders of chocolate out. I just want chunks of chocolate to be thrown on the table.”

Edward Norton calls 'The Invite' a 'very intimate' film

Set over one marijuana- and Xanax-addled night, “The Invite” follows Angela and her gruff musician husband, Joe (Seth Rogen), whose passionless marriage is on life support. Enter their noisy yet impossibly chic upstairs neighbors, Hawk (Norton) and Pína (Penélope Cruz), who make an alluring proposition that forces Joe and Angela to re-evaluate their relationship.

The movie is Wilde’s third outing as a director, after 2019 high-school comedy “Booksmart” and 2022 sci-fi thriller “Don’t Worry Darling,” which was overshadowed by the tabloid frenzy surrounding its megawatt cast. “The Invite” finds the actress returning to her indie roots with a dialogue-heavy, single-location story that is heavily indebted to the works of Woody Allen, Mike Nichols and Nora Ephron.

The film is adapted from a 2020 Spanish comedy, which itself is based on a play. When Wilde first read Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s script, she saw herself more so in Joe, who shoots from the hip − unlike the meticulously organized, eager-to-please Angela.

“I am not the keeper of the calendar; it’s always an adventure and always a surprise,” Wilde says. “And the idea of being ambushed with a social situation is actually my nightmare.”

Wilde and her co-stars rehearsed for two weeks before filming started, tweaking dialogue as they got candid with one another about platonic and romantic relationships. Norton, for instance, drew many of Hawk’s idiosyncrasies from his friends.

“It was like, ‘Let’s all talk for real about what we’ve gone through and people we know,’ ” says Norton, who has been married to producer Shauna Robertson since 2012. “There was a freedom to bring ourselves and to work it in to this text. It didn’t feel like we were encountering this existing thing and going, ‘Oh, that’s a little too close to the bone.’ Olivia was like, ‘Go close to your bone and bring it into the film.’ Not to sound gooey, but it was a very intimate experience.”

Wilde wanted to explore what it means to no longer know or communicate with your partner – an experience that mirrored her own 2020 breakup with fiancé Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares two children: Otis, 12, and Daisy, 9. Although she initially had no intention of starring in “The Invite,” she now considers it the performance she’s proudest of, because of the level of vulnerability she was able to bring to the table.

“You can't direct a film if you have these guards up,” Wilde says. “I felt so safe with this particular group. And it also felt like, ‘If I am asking you guys to be honest, then I'm going to be honest.'

"[Edward] said, ‘If you were drawn to tell this story, then it means that you have something to say,' " she recalls. "I remember that really hitting me and realizing that it was much more personal than I had understood. It was at that point that I plugged into why it was a personal film, and that opened the whole thing up for me in several different ways.”

Why Olivia Wilde was finally 'ready' to make 'The Invite'

Most couples watching “The Invite” will find it impossible not to recognize themselves, whether it’s the conspiratorial way that Angela and Joe sneak off to gab about their neighbors, or facepalm in embarrassment after some tequila-fueled confessions. It’s a movie that’s as laugh-out-loud funny as it is tear-jerking, as Joe and Angela finally put everything out in the open and reckon with their future together.

From an audience perspective, “what’s almost more interesting is: What do people want for them?” Norton says. “Some people are going to be in a place in their life where they want there to be hope, and some people will be saying, ‘Run, girl.’ What people project [onto the film] will be rooted in the way they’re feeling.”

“The Invite” was a hit with critics at Sundance Film Festival in January and is already considered an early Oscar contender. In recent weeks, Wilde has enjoyed sneaking into theaters to gauge moviegoers’ reactions, and she hopes they find a similar sort of catharsis that she did in making it.

“We resonate with things when we're ready to and we can really understand them,” Wilde says. “I think a lot of people are connecting with this movie because they have had difficult relationships. … It takes a certain amount of understanding of these issues in order to responsibly tell the story. Could I have made this movie when I was 20? No, it would have been really bad.”

Ultimately, it’s about “people wanting to be better versions of themselves and being more open to different ways of thinking,” Wilde says. “It’s asking you to go under the surface and to say the things that you don't think you're allowed to say.”

It's Dolly time!

"Dolly: A True Original Musical" will hit Broadway this winter, beginning previews on Monday, Dec. 7, at the St. James Theatre, ahead of a Tuesday, Jan. 19. 2027, opening. Opening falls on Dolly Parton's 81st birthday.

The superstar singer and trailblazer, along with producers Danny Nozell, Adam Speers for ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions, made the announcement on Tuesday, July 7.

More: 'Paddington' is leaping to Broadway. Here's how to get tickets

“My whole life has been a musical. A grand ole opera really and I can’t wait to present it to you on Broadway. I hope you enjoy watching as much as I’ve enjoyed livin’ it,” Parton said in a news release.

"DOLLY: A True Original Musical" features music by Parton, including some of her hits, like “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “9 to 5,” as well as new songs written for the production.

The book is written by Parton and two-time Emmy Award-winner Maria S. Schlatter. It is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher.

“During our world premiere in Nashville, I was overwhelmed by the deep connection audiences have with Dolly. You mention her name and people light up and share a time that she has inspired them and brought them joy," Sher said. "But despite all of that genuine love, Dolly has never really shared her story before. She’s offered glimpses and peeks, but this musical allows her to reveal the unfiltered story in her own words. As we prepare to come to Broadway, we’re thrilled to show that rhinestones were never her whole story.”

Casting and other additional details will be announced in the coming weeks, producers say.

“Having worked with Dolly on both the new version of '9 to 5' in the West End and on 'DOLLY,' I can say without hesitation that being in her orbit changes how you think about what one person can give to the world. What defines her is not only extraordinary talent, but a lifetime of conscious choices – to lead with kindness, to contribute meaningfully, and to give back in ways that have endured, all with inimitable style and great humor. After everything we learned during our world-premiere in Nashville, we’re shaping the show and deepening the storytelling so that the Broadway production fully captures the spirit of this amazing woman," said Adam Speers of ATG Productions.

Pre-sale tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, to fans who sign up at dollymusical.com, as well as eligible Capital One cardholders. The promo code for the Capital One cardholder pre-sale is the first six digits of the customer’s Capital One card.

Simone Biles responded questions about her invite to Taylor Swift’s wedding.

The gymnast said she doesn’t need to share every detail about her friendships with fans.

Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, watched Swift marry Travis Kelce on Friday at Madison Square Garden.

In case you’re wondering, Simone Biles doesn’t need (or want) to validate her friendship with Taylor Swift.

The Olympic gold medalist responded to those questioning her invitation to the pop star’s wedding to Travis Kelce after sharing photos from the celebration via Instagram on Monday.

“When has Simone Biles and Taylor Swift even spoken to each other?😂,” one commenter wrote.

Some followers chimed in to agree, while others stood up for Biles — explaining that she has used Swift’s music in her floor routines, and noting that Kelce and Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, both play in the NFL.

Soon enough, Biles gave her own explanation, simply stating, “Remember this, I only show y’all what I want y’all to know.”

Biles and Owen, a safety for the Indianapolis Colts, were just two of the many celebrity friends invited to Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Kelce’s nuptials at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

In her carousel of photos on Instagram, Biles wore a stunning high-neck blood red dress, designed by DO LONG, and accessorized with Maison Spoiled High Jewelry. Owen coordinated in a red velvet tuxedo jacket, black pants, and a bow tie.

“The perfect love story, followed by the perfect nighTT ❣️,” Biles captioned the post.

Biles was joined by many other NFL couples at the star-studded event, including Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, Claire and George Kittle, and Kyle and Kristin Juszczyk.

“I believe in a thing called love! ❤️ the most epic night celebrating an epic love story T&T 🥰,” Kristin wrote on Instagram alongside pictures.

On Friday, 14-time Grammy winner Swift and former Super Bowl champ Kelce celebrated their love story with a storybook wedding ceremony. A billboard outside of venue Madison Square Garden read “JUST&T MARRIED!” shortly after they officially tied the knot around 7:30 pm ET.

The couple also released a statement to PEOPLE with additional details.

“The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks have been created by Christian Dior Haute Couture. They are designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom. This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity. Their shoes were custom made by Christian Louboutin and the bride wore Cartier jewelry,” the statement read.

The pair “did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen.”

“Instead, her brother Austin Swift served as Taylor’s Man of Honor and Jason Kelce was Travis’ Best Man. The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler,” the statement concluded.

Swift and Kelce started dating in the summer of 2023 and got engaged last August. While planning the wedding, the “Shake It Off” singer admitted her guest would basically be unlimited.

“I know it’s going to be fun to plan because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount, and people are on the bubble,” Swift told Graham Norton in October. “And you have to evaluate or assess your relationship with them to see if they should be there. I’m not gonna do that.”

Annemarie Wiley filed for divorce from her husband, former NFL player Marcellus Wiley, after 12 years of marriage

Annemarie alleges she has suffered physical abuse for years and claims Marcellus raped her various times during their relationship, in a restraining order request obtained by PEOPLE

The Real Housewives of BeverlyHills alum shares three kids with Marcellus: Marcellus Jr., 10, Ariya, 7, and Alivia, 6

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Annemarie Wiley filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, Marcellus Wiley, while alleging years of abuse.

In court documents filed on Monday, July 6, and obtained by PEOPLE, Annemarie cited irreconcilable differences in her request for a divorce from Marcellus, 51. There was no date of separation listed.

Annemarie, 42, also requested a domestic violence restraining order against Marcellus, who she claims “has subjected me to a continuing and escalating pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, financial control, and intimidation.”

In the request, Annemarie, who shares son Marcellus Jr., 10, and daughters Ariya, 7, and Alivia, 6, with the NFL player, lists allegations of abuse that date back to 2012.

The “most recent incident of abuse,” which allegedly took place on July 3 and 4, occurred during a family trip to Orlando for their son’s basketball tournament. On July 3, the NFL player “yelled at me and forcefully jammed his finger into my face while I was lying in bed with our 7-year-old daughter,” Annemarie claims. “He told me that I cause him to treat me badly and that I bring it on myself.”

On July 4, “Marcellus told me that he was going to start, in his words, ‘playing football, not basketball’ with me, and warned me to watch how bad he was going to make things for me, which I understood to be a threat that his abuse would become more severe,” Annemarie claims. “During this same incident, Marcellus pushed our 10-year-old son, Marcellus Jr.”

Marcellus was arrested by local police on domestic battery charges related to the alleged incident, PEOPLE previously confirmed. He was released on July 5 on $1,000 bond and then went to their son’s basketball game, according to Annemarie’s filing.

She said she is “very much afraid of him” and has requested the restraining order out of a desire to require him “to stay away from me and our children and that he be ordered to move out of our home.”

Annemarie requested sole legal and physical custody of their three kids and no visiting rights for Marcellus in the divorce filing. In the restraining order request, she also requested that Marcellus not have access to their kids’ records.

She alleges in the filing that “much” of Marcellus’ abuse has been “witnessed” by their three kids, and cited incidents dating back to Christmas 2021, when she claims he “broke my right thumb” in front of the kids, who were crying. She also alleges that he raped her four times: once in 2012 when she was “intoxicated,” and three times in January 2026.

In 2014, the year they married, she further claims that the NFL player “punched me in the face, giving me a black eye and a split lip” during a trip to Las Vegas.

Annemarie also claims that Marcellus has “exercised financial control over me” throughout their relationship, and that he stopped paying for their kids’ tuition in February, “which forced me to empty our children’s savings accounts in order to pay it.”

“Marcellus subjects me to constant criticism, cruel and sarcastic remarks, and intimidation,” she alleges. “His verbal and emotional abuse is constant, and his physical abuse occurs approximately once a month, and at times more frequently. I am afraid of Marcellus, and I fear for my own safety and for the safety of our children.”

Annemarie’s divorce filing and restraining order request comes after several women have accused Marcellus of sexual assault.

A former ESPN employee accused him of assault in an April 29 filing, according to Rolling Stone, as did three others in filings obtained by PEOPLE. In 2009, Marcellus allegedly assaulted the ESPN employee in her hotel room, during which she “believed I was going to be killed.”

The three others all alleged that Marcellus raped them. Two of the accusers claimed it happened between 1995 and 1999, when he was playing football for Columbia University and beginning his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills, where he was drafted in 1997. The other claimed that he started “grooming” her when she was 13 and “raped me on my 18th birthday,” Rolling Stone reported.

Marcellus denied the allegations in a YouTube video on May 5, saying, “I’m going to continue to challenge all these false accusations.”

He also faces two other rape allegations from a 2023 lawsuit.

Analysis-China's booming gig economy masks job market pain, strains welfare system

BEIJING, July 7 (Reuters) - Bao Zhang began driving for a Chinese ride-hailing app this year after losing his job as a software tester and says the weak job market gives him little hope of returning to the tech sector.

His story is increasingly common in China, where tens of millions are shifting from formal employment into the gig economy as meagre unemployment insurance, record numbers of graduates and a shortage of jobs squeeze opportunities.

"Those who used to take taxis now have to drive them themselves," said the 30-year-old, who works from 7 a.m. until nearly midnight in Beijing to earn about 6,000 yuan ($885) a month after vehicle rental and charging costs.

The China New Employment Forms Research Center, a think tank, estimates the number of people in flexible employment - without a permanent full-time contract - rising to 320 million this year from 280 million in 2025, a cohort almost as large as the U.S. population and about 44% of China's workforce.

GIG ECONOMY ACTS AS CHINA'S SAFETY NET

Analysts say China's gig economy has become a crucial employment buffer as the property crisis wipes out construction jobs and manufacturers shed workers through automation and cost-cutting amid tariffs, overcapacity and price wars.

Increasingly, it hires educated youth and white-collar workers squeezed by weak domestic demand and AI adoption.

"The proportion is extremely high," said Yang Zhan, a cultural anthropology expert at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. "It's no longer limited to rural migrants and has spread to the middle class and university graduates."

"China is upgrading manufacturing, and many industries that used to absorb large numbers of workers are being phased out. Then there is AI," Zhan said.

China's human resources ministry and the State Council Information Office, which answers media queries on behalf of the cabinet, did not immediately respond to comment requests.

As elsewhere, gig economy work mitigates the income shock of losing a formal job.

But in China, one government adviser said the rise of gig jobs - where social insurance contributions are not mandatory - heightens long-term risks to an inadequately funded welfare system.

A 2019 Chinese Academy of Social Sciences report warned that the national pension fund could run out by 2035 as the population ages. A 2024 update said delaying retirement could push depletion back eight to nine years.

"It may not be easy to find a solution," due to unstable incomes and contracts in the gig sector, said the adviser, suggesting Beijing should support the formal services industry to create better jobs.

Central government transfers that plug social insurance budget gaps roughly trebled over the last decade to about 3 trillion yuan, doubling as a percentage of total expenditure to 10%, a Gavekal Dragonomics analysis showed.

A second government adviser said further taxing gig workers, many of them rural migrants, to reduce the burden, would be "highly unreasonable." Birth subsidies could be a preferable long-term fix, he said.

Only two of the 12 flexible workers Reuters interviewed said they were voluntarily contributing, while two others said they paid through formal part-time jobs outside their gig work. The rest said they preferred to save on their own.

"I can take control, rather than wait for decades for others to pay me," said Angel An, 24, who earns more than the average ride-hailing driver by promoting her services to tourists in Shanghai and nearby Suzhou on social media.

Zhang suffers recurring ankle and knee pain from long hours in traffic, but has chosen not to buy medical insurance, adding that pension felt "too far away" and would be small anyway.

Gig jobs lack the pay and security many Chinese expect, said HSBC Asia economist Frederic Neumann, warning this drags on consumption and growth.

"A whole new generation is growing up unaccustomed to the security and confidence that their parents for a long time enjoyed," Neumann said.

A December 2025 government report found that by end-2024 only 70.6 million flexible workers were enrolled in the urban employee pension scheme, which supplements basic retirement benefits. Most migrant workers contribute small amounts only to the basic scheme, where payouts can be as low as 163 yuan a month.

There are no estimates for how many gig workers pay into all social insurance schemes - pension, medical, work injury, unemployment, maternity and housing - but the numbers are likely much lower.

A Peking University survey of 30,000 delivery workers found fewer than 10% would support mandatory social security contributions, which would cost employees about 10% of their income and employers roughly a quarter.

"The urgent priority is to make it easier for flexible workers to be included in the employee social security system," said Nomura's chief China economist Ting Lu, who estimates only tens of millions are fully enrolled.

"We need to reduce anxiety," he said, "so that they save less and consume more."

Zhan, the anthropologist, said the government faced a tough trade-off between making the industry's employers contribute more to needed welfare improvements and preserving their ability to create jobs.

"The government very much needs the platform economy to absorb workers," and maintain social stability, Zhan said.

Significant regulatory changes could cause "a major shock" to the industry's profits, she added.

Although China's unemployment rate has hovered around 5%-6% for a decade, gig work has helped keep those numbers in check because anyone working even one hour a week is considered employed.

Yet an influx of gig workers is increasingly outpacing demand in some sectors, slowing incomes.

The think-tank report said China's 16 million food delivery riders saw their income rise 11% on average to 37.3 yuan per hour in 2025, but wages shrank 1.8% for the 37.2 million ride-hailing drivers.

At least four cities, including the tech hub of Shenzhen, have issued warnings of ride-hailing market "saturation" since April.

The second government adviser said authorities only meant to raise awareness and not to prevent people from taking more such work, as "that would become a social stability issue."

Li, a cleaner in his early 50s who delivers food until 10 p.m. for an extra 40-100 yuan a day, suspects the growing number of riders is compressing earnings per order, but has "no choice" but to keep going.

"At my age, without education, what could I possibly do? In Beijing, most college students also have to deliver food," said Li, who only gave his surname.

TOKYO, July 7 (Reuters) - A shortage of critical minerals is starting to affect the broader Japanese economy, adding a sense of urgency for Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's government to find alternatives to exports that China has cut off, according to recent corporate filings.

China dominates the global market for rare earths - which are crucial in making items from electric cars to weapons - and it is using those supplies as a diplomatic cudgel.

Since Takaichi enraged Beijing with comments about defending Taiwan in November, Beijing has choked off shipments of certain key minerals to Japan.

Recent surges in the Nikkei stock index to successive records and buoyant corporate sentiment in the Bank of Japan's Tankan survey point to an economy on an upswing. But an unprecedented increase in corporate Japan's notices about critical minerals is flashing a warning signal for the quarters ahead.

Japan's economy took a hit to the tune of about 0.9% of GDP in 2010 during a bout of trade restrictions by China, but the effect could be worse this time around now that rare earths have grown in importance in a variety of supply chains, said Takeshi Higashifukasawa, chief economist at Mizuho Research Institute.

"With the development of AI, rare earths are being used across a broad range of goods and throughout supply chains," Higashifukasawa said, noting that electric vehicles have entered the fray since then. "Companies cannot afford to be optimistic."

Chinese customs data last month showed there were no exports to Japan of terbium or dysprosium oxide from November through May and minuscule shipments of yttrium oxide since December, cutting off supplies critical to making powerful magnets.

Regular filings to the Tokyo Stock Exchange over the past decade typically had fewer than 40 mentions of rare earths per month, with most concentrated in the materials and industrial sectors. But such notices have doubled since May and are now increasingly cited as risks by consumer and electronics firms.

More than two-thirds of nearly 200 filings in May and June that mentioned rare earths said export controls were affecting their business negatively or could do so in the future.

"Should restrictions on the export of rare earths or similar measures persist for an extended period, this could affect the group's production activities and financial performance," watchmaker Citizen Watch said in one such warning on June 23.

In response to Reuters questions, Citizen Watch said rare earths are mainly used in motors, but they had not affected production or earnings, adding it did not currently expect to revise earnings forecasts because of rare-earth-related supply risks or China's export controls.

Omron, a maker of medical devices, cited on June 22 China's export restrictions on rare earths as part of its broader assessment of geopolitical risks, alongside conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. However, the impact of China's export controls on production and earnings was not significant at present, the company said, adding it does not procure rare earths directly, though some purchased components contain materials that use them.

While the pain is not being evenly felt across industries, it is spreading, said Satoru Yoshida, a commodities analyst at Rakuten Securities, attributing the divergence to how much supply companies built up before Beijing tightened the screws.

"Supply is being restricted, but everyone is starting to use them - and that only makes them even rarer," Yoshida said, adding that China controlled roughly 70% of rare earth production and 60% of reserves as of 2025.

Tokyo has been racing to line up alternatives. In a statement, Japan's industry ministry said it is using investments and subsidies to work with allies and companies to secure stable supplies of rare earths and other critical minerals.

Takaichi signed a framework with U.S. President Donald Trump in October to coordinate on critical minerals and rare earths, including joint stockpiling and rapid-response supply arrangements. And the two governments have discussed joint development of deep-sea deposits; commercial-scale output, however, remains years away.

Takaichi is also banking on a plan agreed to by Group of Seven nations in June to step up coordination of stockpiles, and Japan has also begun some rare-earth recycling projects.

But when those efforts will come online and how much they can yield remain unclear, said Yuriy Humber, CEO of Tokyo-based Yuri Group, a consultancy.

"I assume that a year of export restrictions will create big problems and we're four to five months into that," Humber said. "Obviously, the government wants to keep the issue under wraps so as not to cause panic and give China the early win."
