Savannah Guthrie paid a visit to a familiar face during her ongoing Today break.

Guthrie has been absent from the morning show since July 21, as she is busy filming NBC‘s upcoming Wordle game show. The host is seemingly back in the New York City area, as Hoda Kotb revealed via Instagram that Guthrie recently stopped by for a visit at her home.

“My favorite place… next to you @savannahguthrie,” Kotb captioned the Thursday, August 6, upload, which featured a sweet snap of the two smiling at the camera in Kotb’s backyard.

Fans gushed over the Today reunion in the post’s comments, with one user writing, “You can’t put a price on people that hold your hand through life’s challenges. Love you two.” Another added, “Exactly how it should be! You both inspire us all with your faith, love, acceptance & optimism.” Someone else shared, “Nothing like being there for each other.”

A different person posted, “Love this, such an amazing friendship, Savanna my heart breaks for you everyday, I pray you will find your mom, and Hoda miss you on the today show, but you are right where you should be, with Savanna.” A separate commenter shared, “Beautiful photo. You can feel the love through this picture.” Andy Cohen also hopped in the comments, calling Guthrie and Kotb “queens.”

Guthrie and Kotb famously led Today together for several years as co-anchors, as Kotb took over Matt Lauer‘s role following his sexual misconduct scandal and 2017 firing. Kotb stepped down from the show after nearly 20 years in January 2025 but returned to the anchor desk earlier this year to help fill in for Savannah following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Savannah was seemingly present for Kotb’s earlier birthday celebration. In a Friday, August 7, Instagram post, Kotb revealed that her daughters, Haley and Hope, surprised her by decorating their home with festive balloons and decorations. “Wow! A couple of days early! Surprise! #luckyme,” she captioned the clip. (Kotb, who shares her kids with her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman, turns 62 on Sunday, August 9.)

Savannah’s Today return date has not been announced. Sheinelle Jones, Weekend Today‘s Laura Jarrett, and NBC News’ Hallie Jackson have filled in for her as her break continues.

Savannah was first tapped to host NBC’s Wordle game show, based on the hit New York Times game, back in October 2025. Executive producer Jimmy Fallon officially announced the show, and Savannah’s role as host, on the May 11 episode of Today. At the time, Savannah revealed that the show was supposed to be filmed in March, but production was pushed back in the wake of her mom’s disappearance. (Nancy was abducted from her Arizona home in February, and authorities have yet to name any suspects in the case.)

“I just want to say a quick thank you to NBC and to Jimmy and his production company and The New York Times and Studio Universal because when everything happened with me and my family, they just stopped everything and said, ‘We’ll wait for you,’” Savannah shared. “And Hollywood is a really tough business, as you know, and I didn’t expect that. And I just want to say thank you. It means so much to me.”
