- James McAvoy is sending his well wishes to the cast of the new *X-Men* films.

During a visit to **’s studio at Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, James McAvoy sent his well-wishes to Christopher Abbott and the rest of the cast of Marvel’s upcoming* X-Men *reboot*. *

“Good luck to him! Good luck, good luck, good luck,” McAvoy cheered. “I just wish them well and good luck.”

Still, the *Faith* star teased, “I’m here to sell a different film, so I don’t really… [Marvel’s] got a massive publicity machine, they can sell their own [film]. But massive good luck to them!”

McAvoy starred as Charles Xavier, the telepathic leader of the X-Men, when Fox rebooted the superhero franchise in the 2011.

He played the founder of his own school for gifted youngsters in four prequel films — *X-Men: First Class*, *X-Men: Days of Future Past*, *X-Men: Apocalypse, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix *— alongside Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, and more.

After debuting Jean Grey (played by* Stranger Things* alum Sadie Sink) in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, Marvel officially unveiled the cast of its forthcoming* X-Men* film at Disney’s D23 fan convention last month. In addition to Sink and Abbott, the superhero film will star Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Cyclops/Scott Summers, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury/Mr. Sinister.

More castings have been revealed since the initial announcement, with *Gen V *star Asa Germann officially set to portray Warren Kenneth Worthington III/Angel.

Jake Schreier, who previously spearheaded Marvel’s* **Thunderbolts***,* will direct the film.* *Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo will pen the *X-Men* script, with the film scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2028.
