Aaron Rodgers recently peeled back the curtain on his breakup with actress Shailene Woodley and, after hearing the details, Super Bowl champion Leonard Fournette came away with a much simpler read on the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back reacted to Rodgers’ recent account of his failed engagement to Woodley, focusing on how willing Rodgers suddenly seems to discuss a relationship he had largely kept private for years.

Rodgers discussed Woodley during an appearance on Cam Heyward’s “Not Just Football” podcast. He claimed that only days after she accepted his marriage proposal, Woodley told him she wanted to sleep with another man before they got married.
Woodley has not publicly confirmed or denied Rodgers’ version of that private conversation. During a pre-Emmy awards event, Woodley laughed and walked away when a reporter asked about Rodgers, but she did not address his specific allegation.
Fournette reacted to the story on his podcast “4th and South” and sounded stunned that Rodgers was sharing that level of detail publicly.
“He seems fed up,” Fournette said.
The conversation quickly shifted from the particulars of Rodgers’ allegation to what his willingness to discuss it suggested about his mindset. Fournette said Rodgers appeared to be “taking the gloves off” and wondered whether he had been holding frustration in for years before deciding to air it publicly.
Fournette also made clear that, in his view, the alleged request would have ended the relationship immediately.
“Would you still kind of go through with the marriage, though?” his co-host Jarvis Landry asked.

“What? [expletive] no,” Fournette responded.
Rodgers’ originalbreakup comments have already produced several rounds of reaction. He insisted during the interview that public narratives about the breakup did not accurately reflect what happened between them.

His recent football performance has not matched his peak years. In Week 1, Rodgers’ 67.9 QB Impact Score ranked 29th among all qualifying quarterbacks (which mirrored his 29th ranking in 2025).
That has little to do with what happened between Rodgers and Woodley, but it does underline how unusual this stage of his career has become.
Rodgers is simultaneously trying to lead a playoff contender and publicly revisiting personal relationships that ended years ago.
Fournette’s reaction captured the surprise surrounding that shift. Rodgers has often criticized speculation about his private life, yet his latest podcast appearance offered some of the most personal details he has ever shared.
Whether Woodley eventually offers a different account remains to be seen. From Fournette’s perspective, though, Rodgers did not sound interested in keeping much bottled up anymore.
