Trump baselessly accuses drug industry of fueling impeachment push

President Donald Trump charged Thursday with out evidence that the pharmaceutical business was behind Home Democrats' impeachment proceedings, suggesting it was payback for his administration's effort to lower drug prices.

"Decreasing the cost of prescribed drugs, taking over the pharmaceutical corporations, you assume that’s straightforward, it’s not straightforward. It’s not straightforward. ... I wouldn’t be stunned if the hoax didn’t come slightly bit from a few of the folks that we’re taking over." Trump stated.

"They’re very powerful, they spend a lot of money, spend I assume extra money than some other group on the earth truly in terms of lobbying and lobbying talents. And I wouldn’t be stunned if a few of the nonsense that all of us need to go through, however that I'm going by way of, wouldn’t be stunned if it was from some of those industries like prescription drugs that we take on."

Trump introduced no evidence supporting the declare.

"To not be so frank, however that may be a ridiculous question," stated Holly Campbell, spokesperson for PhRMA, when asked about Trump's statement.

The president was speaking at a Florida event to signal an government order aimed toward beefing up Medicare and its offshoot run by personal health plans, Medicare Benefit. Trump has supported moves in Congress to lower drug costs, although the status of that legislation is unclear. On Wednesday he disregarded House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's supply to help him cross a drug pricing measure, calling her efforts "camouflage."

Pelosi opened an impeachment inquiry final week, propelled by a whistleblower who stated Trump had asked the president of Ukraine to examine Joe Biden’s son Hunter as a "favor" to him.
