Nancy Pelosi’s brother, Thomas D’Alesandro III, has died. He was 90.
His demise was confirmed by the Speaker of the Home, who shared the news by means of a statement released by her office.
“My husband Paul and our whole family are devastated by the lack of our patriarch, my beloved brother, Thomas D’Alesandro III,” stated Pelosi, 79, who led a delegation to Jordan over the weekend to discuss the Center East and Syria.
She went on to name her late brother “the best public servant I've ever recognized.”
He died at his North Baltimore house Sunday of stroke problems, in line with The Baltimore Sun.

“His life and leadership have been a tribute to the Catholic values with which we have been raised: faith, family, patriotism,” Pelosi added. “He profoundly believed, as did our mother and father, that public service was a noble calling and that all of us had a duty to assist others.”
Based on the Baltimore Sun, D’Alesandro served as the town’s 42nd mayor from 1967-71 and helped rebuild and develop the group by opening new faculties, building new police headquarters and preventing for open housing. He also selected African People for key management positions throughout the town — including in faculties and the hearth division — throughout his tenure, which began amid a time of racial strife in Baltimore.
As well as, D’Alesandro created summer time recreation packages for the town’s youth with cellular swimming pools and day camps. He additionally established the legislative groundwork for the Internal Harbor improvement, now a world-famous tourist destination.
“Tommy devoted his life to our city.
