- Chris Hansen alleged that A24, the studio behind *Primetime*, “wanted me to sign away my rights to my name, image, and brand” along with any “potential legal rights that would come out of the movie.”

- The movie stars Robert Pattinson as the veteran journalist during his years hosting *To Catch a Predator*.

- *Primetime *hits theaters on Sept. 25.

Chris Hansen made a surprising claim about why he wouldn’t watch an early screening of *Primetime**.*

The upcoming A24 film starring Robert Pattinson as Hansen and directed by Lance Oppenheim depicts the veteran journalist during his run on the 2000s program *To Catch a Predator*. Earlier this week, Hansen said he was going to see the movie at a private screening. However, on Thursday’s episode of Fox News’ *Jesse Watters Primetime*, Hansen shared that he did not see the film that morning, and revealed why.

“The lawyers at A24 wanted me to sign away my rights to my name, image, and brand, essentially, as well as any potential legal rights that would come out of the movie,” Hansen claimed on the show. A source disputes his account.

The *Dateline** *journalist added, “I couldn’t sign that, so they didn’t show me the film. I went all the way over there. … But who’s going to sign something like that?”

Chris Hansen

Hansen claimed it was a “very restrictive agreement,” adding that he “had never seen anything quite like it.” He also noted that his “lawyers had already seen” the NDA before he went to the screening at A24’s office.

Asked what A24 would be worried about, Hansen said, “I don’t know.”

“If you look at the trailer, obviously it’s a very dramatized version. They had told me that it’s fictionalized in many aspects. I know other people have seen it who didn’t sign an NDA, and yet they wanted me to sign it,” concluded Hansen.

A source told ** that Hansen was asked to sign an NDA a week in advance that all preview audiences are required to sign ahead of screening an unreleased film. These standard NDAs are mostly to prevent spoilers and protect the studio’s IP.

Because Hansen didn’t sign the release form, he could not see the film, per the source.

*To Catch a Predator*, which is dramatized in the upcoming thriller film, started out as a *Dateline *sting segment and ran as a wildly popular program from 2003 to 2007 on NBC.

The series was controversial for how it captured alleged pedophiles, using a hidden camera and adults posing as teenagers online to lure the suspected predators into a sting house, where they would be captured on the spot. It blurred the line between entertainment and reporting the news, raising questions over the program’s ethics.

Hansen previously told Annie Elise on the *Serialously* podcast that he was familiar with Pattinson and Oppenheim, but questioned *Primetime*’s motives. “I know that he’s a very popular actor. I know that the director is a popular guy,” he said. “But I also have some questions: what’s Hollywood’s motive here? We don’t know, but I’ll find out, and I promise I’ll let you know.”

Besides Pattinson, *Primetime* stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Anna Faris, Phoebe Bridgers, Alex Winter, Creed Bratton, and Bokeem Woodbine.

*Primetime *will make its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival before hitting theaters on Sept. 25.

- Damon’s visit came days after Disney unveiled major theme park news at the bi-annual D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Matt Damon and his scene-stealing daughters hit Disneyland in matching style to honor a big day for their family.

The *Odyssey* star posed for photos Thursday at the Anaheim, Calif. resort’s Disneyland park, where he and his four daughters wore matching shirts to celebrate daughter Gia’s 18th birthday.

The Oscar-winning *Good Will Hunting *screenwriter, 50, and wife Luciana Barroso, also 50, posed in front of a giant Mickey Mouse-shaped pumpkin just inside the gates at Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A., while the family wore shirts that read “Birthday Crew” on the front.

In addition to Gia, Damon and Barroso share 20-year-old daughter Isabella, a newly signed IMG model, as well as Stella, 15. Damon is also stepfather to Alexia, Barroso’s 27-year-old daughter from a prior relationship.

Per a Disneyland representative, Damon and his family wanted “to begin the spooky season a little early” as the park kicked off its Halloween Time seasonal event.

“To start the day, Matt and his family stopped for a photo in front of the iconic giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin on Main Street, U.S.A.,” the rep’s release reads, before adding that the family continued “their fun-filled day celebrating his daughter’s birthday” elsewhere at the famed park.

Damon’s visit to Disneyland with his daughters came after his family also stole the show at various red carpet events around the world, particularly ahead of the release of *The Odyssey* — for which Damon has courted major Oscar buzz.

The family made headlines for their appearance at the film’s South Korean premiere, where Damon told reporters he was happy to bring his daughters along for the press tour.

“This time I was able to bring my wife and my two youngest daughters, and to be able to see this town with them and to meet people with them, and expose them to Korea for the first time has been incredibly memorable,” the actor said.

At D23, the company confirmed *Frozen 3*’s long-gestating storyline while revealing new footage of Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) encountering a menacing new villainess who threatens the kingdom of Arendelle. Disney further unveiled an official first look at stars Milo Manheim, Teagan Croft, and Kathryn Hahn as Flynn Rider, Rapunzel, and Mother Gothel, respectively, in the live-action *Tangled* movie.

Disney also announced plans for its parks, including a revamp of Tomorrowland at Disneyland as well as new details on attractions based on *Monsters, Inc*., *Coco*, *Avatar*, and *Encanto*. Along with additional news regarding Harrison Ford’s return as Indiana Jones inside Animal Kingdom’s Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent ride, the company offered an in-depth look at a Maleficent roller coaster, and a Magic Mirror dark ride heading to the long-awaited Villains Land at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

An American Airlines passenger was treated for burn injuries after a laptop caught fire during landing.

While traveling from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday, Aug. 21, American Airlines Flight 2398 reported “smoke from a customer’s device” during landing at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), American Airlines confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE.

“American Airlines Flight 2398 landed safely at DFW after reports of smoke from a customer’s device during landing,” the airline said. “We thank our crew for their professionalism and swift response to quickly contain the device.”

One passenger received medical attention on site and was later released, according to the airline.

“After landing, the aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power. Per procedure, emergency personnel met the aircraft upon arrival to the gate,” American Airlines added to PEOPLE.

According to air traffic control audio obtained by CBS Texas, the pilot reported that a laptop had caught fire on the plane, injuring four to five passengers. Around 133 people were on the aircraft at the time.

“I think we have about four to five passengers that were burned by the laptop,” the pilot can be heard saying, per CBS Texas. “The laptop is contained about mid-aircraft. “Once we taxi clear, I guess the best plan to follow is to the gate or any way you guys can board?”

The pilot said that the injured passengers’ hands were burned in the incident.

Lithium batteries are found in laptop and cell phone batteries, cell phone battery charging cases and portable chargers.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recorded 58 lithium battery incidents causing smoke or fire on passenger planes this year as of August 2026.

“All lithium-ion batteries are capable of overheating and undergoing a process called thermal runaway,” the FAA states on its website. “Thermal runaway can occur without warning as a result of various factors, including if the battery is damaged, overheated, exposed to water, overcharged, or improperly packed. Thermal runaway can also occur on its own due to manufacturing defects.”

The FAA did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

- HBO Max released the first teaser for *The Pitt* season 3 in August.

- The third season jumps ahead to November, with Robby returning to the ED alongside new and familiar faces.

- Season 3 will premiere in January 2027.

Each season of *The Pitt** *unfolds across one terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day in a Pittsburgh emergency department. It’s a brilliant approach, allowing the cast and creative team to better convey the cumulative toll that every single day in a high-traffic ED takes on the doctors, nurses, and social workers in its halls. By season’s end, one question prevails: *How do you wake up and do all of this again tomorrow?*

That’s certainly the case in season 2, which sees senior attending Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) collapsing under the weight of his own sky-high expectations. He’s set to begin a three-month sabbatical at the end of his shift, one from which he may never return.

Of course, that’s if he leaves at all. By season’s end, after 15 hours in the ED, Robby remains huddled in a back room, rocking an abandoned baby he can’t help but relate to.

The season 2 finale ended not with a period (or an exclamation point), but an ellipsis. Since then, the series has nabbed 25 Emmy nominations, many of which are for its stars.

So, what’s next? With the first trailer now out, here’s everything we know about *The Pitt* season 3, including new cast members, plot details, and when we can expect our favorite ED crew to scrub back in for another shift.

Will there be a season 3 of The Pitt?

Yes, *The Pitt* was renewed for a third season by HBO Max in January 2026, just ahead of its season 2 premiere. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as season 1 was a ratings juggernaut that went on to earn five Emmys, including one for Outstanding Drama.

And it only grew more popular this year. Various outlets, including *The Hollywood Reporter*, reported that the season 2 premiere nearly tripled the viewership of season 1’s. *The Wrap* has it dominating its streaming charts week after week.**

How did The Pitt season 2 end?

Noah Wyle holding a baby

The season 2 finale saw Robby reach his breaking point after a day spent alternately saving lives and not-so-subtly hinting that he doesn’t intend to come back from his sabbatical.

When he wasn’t portending his own doom, he was alienating colleagues old and new, from resident Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) to new attending Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), the latter of whom is suffering from absence seizures that could impact her ability to lead in the ED. Robby threatened to report her condition to the hospital’s administration if she doesn’t disclose it herself.

Elsewhere, Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden) discovered the malpractice lawsuit she’s named in isn’t going away any time soon. And Dr. Frank Langdon lamented a misdiagnosis he made earlier in the day that partly led to a patient losing one of her legs.

Langdon and Robby, meanwhile, found no closure after a day spent mostly avoiding each other. Their final confrontation, if you want to call it that, ended with Langdon lashing out at Robby, telling him he needs help.

“How can any of us live up to your standards if you can’t even do it?” he said.

Robby ended the episode rocking Baby Jane Doe to sleep. “Everything’s gonna be just fine,” he whispered. “You got so many wonderful things to see, and so many people to love ahead of you. So many wonderful things to see, people to love ahead of you.”**

When will The Pitt season 3 be set?

Following *The Pitt*’s latest round of Emmy nominations, Wyle confirmed in a *Deadline* interview that season 3 will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026. He noted that it’s a change for the series, as the first two seasons were written to take place roughly when viewers were watching them. “We’ve written the shows eight months before we air, but we’ve written them to take place in the time and place in which they are being watched this season,” he said. Instead, viewers will be watching a 2026 story in 2027.

Wyle added, “So we will be talking about where we’ve just been for the first time, and not where we’re going. That was a decision made because there’s going to be a lot of anticipation and fear and preparation going into January and the execution of the Big Beautiful Bill that will have a lot of ramifications in Americans’ lives.”

Creator R. Scott Gemmill had previously confirmed to TVLine that season 3 would jump ahead four months to November. He explained that the gap allows Robby to take his planned three-month sabbatical and remain away from work for a little longer before returning.

“One of the things we play in season 3 is that he comes back, but he doesn’t come back to the hospital right away,” Gemmill told the outlet. “He will show up [in episode 1], but he’s been away from work longer than three months.”

Is there a trailer for The Pitt season 3?

In August, HBO Max released the first teaser for the third season, which begins with Dr. Shen (Ken Kirby) observing that Dr. Robby’s name is back on the schedule. “Is he finally back?” he asks. “I’ll believe it when I see it,” says Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy), king of the nightcrawlers.

And see it he shall! Dr. Robby has indeed returned to the most hectic ED in Pittsburgh. “I knew my first day back was gonna be hard dealing with what we go through here,” Wyle says in voiceover. “And I knew that it could get a little bit crazy. But it’s time to get back to it.”

The voiceover plays over a montage of quick shots featuring several of our beloved doctors and nurses, as well as the patients they’ll be helping in season 3. The teaser ends on a tense moment, with Langdon welcoming Robby back. Robby takes a beat before responding, “Thanks.” Chilly.

What will The Pitt season 3 be about?

Warrick Page/HBOMAX

As of this writing, there’s no official synopsis for *The Pitt* season 3. But don’t expect it to find Robby as the proud father of Baby Jane Doe.

“I think the last thing Robby needs is an infant,” Gemmill told EW, adding that season 3 will be about the embattled attending trying to pull himself out of the darkness. “I think the season 3 mantra is ‘Physician, heal thyself.’ I’m hoping that Robby is smart enough and courageous enough to take the advice that he’s always giving to others.”

Gemmill also teased “more story to be told” regarding Al-Hashimi’s medical condition, place in the ED, and rocky relationship with Robby. What interests him about the plotline is “what happens when you’re faced with an affliction that may cause you to lose the one thing and prevent you from doing the one thing that you really have spent your whole life working towards, and what does that mean and how does that affect your identity?”

Finally, after introducing an ICE storyline in season 2, Gemmill said the creative team will continue incorporating real-world events and shifts in healthcare policy. “There’s a lot of changes to Medicare and Medicaid, and those are going to have real repercussions on the emergency department and everyone who works there and uses it,” he said. “We’re going to explore that this year, for sure.”**

Who’s in the cast of The Pitt season 3?

Ayesha Harris, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Fiona Dourif on 'The Pitt' season 3

Warrick Page/HBOMAX

Returning for season 3 are Noah Wyle, Sepideh Moafi, Patrick Ball, Taylor Dearden, Katherine LaNasa, Fiona Dourif, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Shawn Hatosy. Joining the main cast this season is Ayesha Harris, whose no-nonsense Dr. Parker Ellis we’ve seen as part of the ED’s night shift, a.k.a. “the nightcrawlers.”

Gemmill told TVLine that Laëtitia Hollard will return as Emma, the fresh-faced nurse who chose one hell of a first day, and that Victoria Javadi (Azeez) will explore emergency psychiatry, which was teased in the season 2 finale. Azeez later elaborated on what that’ll look like, revealing that Javadi is on a psychiatric rotation in season 3 and won’t be working in the ED. “It’s a very different vibe for me. And I’m scared and nervous. But it’s an honor to be able to show that part of medicine,” she said.

Someone who won’t be returning is Supriya Ganesh, who played Dr. Samira Mohan. “It’s sort of the nature of the show,” Gemmill recently said while addressing her exit. “Unfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible.”

In addition, EW has confirmed that Stephen Chang (*Bosch: Legacy*), Barry Clifton (*The Madison*), Lawrence Kao (*Criminal*), Brent Sexton (*Deadwood*), and Hannah Ware (*The First*) will play new ED patients in season 3. Chris Diamantopoulos (*The Lincoln Lawyer*) will play Dr. Asher Grossman, chief medical officer of PTMC, while JB Tadena (*The Adventures of Cliff Booth*) will play Dr. Reed Thomas, a PTMC physician.

HBO Max hasn’t set an exact date, but *The Pitt* season 3 will premiere in January 2027.

That’s in line with what Wells told *Deadline* in March 2026, when he said the show planned to return in January with another 15 episodes.

- *National Treasure* filmmaker Jon Turteltaub said that a third movie is “finally real.”

- The director revealed that *National Treasure 3* will reunite the original cast, including Nicolas Cage.

- He also confirmed that a script has been approved by Disney and himself.

Benjamin Gates is back on the hunt.

*National Treasure* director Jon Turteltaub confirmed that a third movie in the adventure franchise is finally in the works. “It’s happening,” he told the *National Treasure Hunt* podcast at a live event in Philadelphia on Friday (per *The Philadelphia Inquirer*).

“I have not said anything before this, but you deserve to have the scoop,” the filmmaker said, noting that the audience was “the first people I have said this out loud to” in public.

Turteltaub confirmed that Nicolas Cage, who starred as treasure hunter Ben Gates in the first two films, is expected to return in *National Treasure 3*. However, he also noted that obstacles could still potentially prevent the movie from moving forward.

“It’s finally real. Now, it’s Hollywood real, meaning things could happen,” he said. “Nic gets hit by a bus, there’s no *National Treasure 3*. If I get hit by a bus, there’s probably a *National Treasure 3*. Welcome to Hollywood.”

Turteltaub told the crowd that a screenplay approved by him and Disney has already been written, and he noted that “to whatever extent we can, everyone’s back.”

** has reached out to representatives for Disney and Cage for comment.

*National Treasure* starred Cage, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha as a treasure-hunting trio who become reluctantly involved with a plot to steal the Declaration of Independence in order to find a vast fortune hidden by the Freemasons. The sequel introduced the Book of Secrets, a classified collection of confidential information passed between presidents. Greenwood’s POTUS told Ben to check out a page of particular interest — Page 47 — and the protagonist eventually described the page as “life-altering” without ever revealing what he saw, which means audiences have been waiting 19 years for resolution on that thread.

*National Treasure 3* has been long discussed but remained in development hell for almost two full decades. After years of false starts, Cage told fans during a Reddit AMA in 2022 that there’s little hope for a sequel to move forward. “No, the priority was to turn it into a TV show so I would say probably not,” he said.

A few months later, Disney announced *National Treasure: Edge of History*, a Disney+ series set in the same universe as the movies that focused on a new cast of characters. Keitel and Bartha both guested as their respective characters from the films, with the latter character suggesting that he and Ben have been investigating Page 47 from the Book of Secrets. The show was canceled after finishing its first season in 2023.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski outdueled one of his favorite pitchers and got quite a compliment from him afterward.

“It seems like he’s kind of in a league of his own this year,” 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale said after his Braves lost 2-1 to the Brewers on Friday. “It's probably the most impressive fastball I've ever seen."

That compliment meant plenty to Misiorowski, who has said on multiple occasions that Sale was one of the pitchers he enjoyed watching the most while growing up. Misiorowski pitched six shutout innings Friday in his first head-to-head matchup with Sale, who allowed two runs over six innings.

“It’s awesome to hear it from a guy like Sale, such a great guy, definitely a guy I looked up to — and still do,” Misiorowski said. “It’s really cool.”

Sale’s praise for Misiorowski’s fastball came on a day when the Brewers phenom didn’t rely on it nearly as much as usual. He solidified his status as the NL Cy Young Award favorite by showing he can thrive even when his fastball isn’t at its best.

Misiorowski’s 96-pitch outing included 56 four-seam fastballs but also 23 sliders, 14 cutters and three curves. Heading into Friday, Misiorowski was throwing four-seam fastballs 64% of the time and using his slider on only 11% of his pitches.

His fastball also didn’t have quite as much velocity as usual, at least by Misiorowski’s extraordinary standards. Misiorowski reached a top velocity of 103.1 mph, but that was the only pitch in which he exceeded 101.8. He reached at least 100 mph in 32 of his pitches.

“Just one of those days where it was just a down day,” Misiorowski said. “I had to grind through it and make it work.”

He made it work just fine.

“Today I wasn’t seeing the same kind of typical aggression that you usually see out of the fastball with Miz, but the slider was great,” Brewers catcher William Contreras said through an interpreter. “He’s being able to throw the sliders a little bit more to lefties now as well. Tremendous job by him just being able to give us different pitches to use whenever the fastball is maybe a little bit off.”

That assortment kept Atlanta’s hitters off balance.

Misiorowski (13-5) struck out six batters while allowing four hits and two walks in his six-inning stint. He has a 1.68 ERA and 216 strikeouts to lead the majors in both categories. Sale (12-9) has a 2.20 ERA to rank second.

“It’s tough,” Braves manager Walt Weiss said. “You’re gearing up for 100 and then you’re having to deal with cutters and sliders.”

Misiorowski needed to be that good to beat Sale, who has allowed three runs or fewer in an MLB-leading 20 consecutive starts.

The matchup of Cy Young Award contenders on first-place teams featured a sellout crowd and playoff-type atmosphere. Both pitchers benefited from outstanding fielding.

“Pitching and defense in that game are as good as you’re going to see — really high-level stuff,” Weiss said.

Braves shortstop Mauricio Dubón made a diving stop to start an inning-ending double play. Milwaukee’s Luis Lara attempted to stretch his single into a double but got thrown out on a 92.3-mph laser from right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr., according to Statcast.

Lara, who calls Acuña his favorite player, had a couple of gems of his own. He made a leaping catch at the center-field wall to rob Matt Olson of an extra-base hit in the sixth inning, then moved over to right and snared a 99.3-mph liner from Dubón for the final out of the eighth after Atlanta loaded the bases.

“I think we’ve got to change his name tag to ‘Air Lara,’ “ said Misiorowski, who jokingly asked Lara about that nickname while posing as a reporter during the rookie outfielder’s postgame media session.

With a little help from his friends, Misiorowski won his first head-to-head matchup with Sale, a player the Brewers right-hander has grown to appreciate even more now that they’ve met at the All-Star Game the last two years.

“That’s been really cool,” Misiorowski said. “That’s honestly been probably my favorite part, just getting to talk to guys like that, that I watched … and to get to play (against) now. It’s fun. It’s really fun.”

What does that mean for the Purple-and-Gold?

The Lakers need a young and athletic wing, such as Jonathan Kuminga, to pair with Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler. The Western Conference is young, fast and deep — with the Thunder and Spurs seemingly having an endless army of fresh legs at their disposal.

The 36-year-old Thompson no longer fits that bill, even though he helped the Warriors win four championships in eight years with his legendary sharpshooting. Last season, Thompson averaged 11.7 points on 39.3% shooting from the field and 38.3% from beyond the arc for the Mavericks, who didn’t make the playoffs in Thompson’s two seasons with the team amid health issues.

The Lakers pursued Thompson in free agency in 2024 before he ultimately decided to join the Mavericks. Thompson and Luka Doncic played 21 games together in Dallas before the Mavericks stunningly traded the superstar to the Lakers in February 2025, a deal that was a great blow for Thompson’s title-winning hopes.

Thompson has deep ties to Los Angeles. His father, Mychal, won two championships with the Showtime Lakers in 1987 and 1988 and currently serves as the team’s radio color analyst. And Thompson attended Santa Margarita High and was a huge Kobe Bryant fan as a child.

But Thompson will now compete for his fifth ring in Miami alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

As for the Lakers, they’ll continue their search for an athletic wing who could help them win their first title since 2020.
