Melania Trump Ignores Question About Impeachment During First Solo Trip to Capitol Hill

First Woman Melania Trump on Wednesday morning made her first solo journey to Capitol Hill where she appeared with numerous lawmakers and senior White House officers to mark the one-year anniversary of a regulation to deal with the opioid epidemic.

What she didn't need to speak about, it appears, was the impeachment inquiry into her husband, President Donald Trump.

In line with reporters on the occasion, she was asked at one level on the Capitol, after leaving the occasion, “How is the impeachment inquiry affecting you and your family?”

She didn't answer — though her husband, 73, has had many things to say, together with this week controversially comparing the investigation to a “lynching.”

As an alternative, Mrs. Trump, 49, spent her time talking concerning the importance of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, signed into regulation by President Trump final October.

“We continue to make great strides in our struggle to end this disaster,” she stated within the Capitol’s Mansfield Room, seated beneath a portrait of President George Washington.

“I've traveled to a number of the areas hardest hit by drug abuse and I have seen the devastating effects that this crisis has on households and youngsters,” she stated. “This is the reason the SUPPORT Act is so necessary. It offers the required instruments to struggle this disaster.”

Mrs. Trump inspired others to participate in National Drug Takeback Day, which is Saturday. She also famous that efforts to combat widespread drug habit have been according to her “Be Best” campaign as first woman, specializing in baby welfare.

In line with reporters in attendance, Mrs. Trump gave solely her temporary remarks and thanked the others within the room after they thanked her for her work.

The president has denied wrongdoing and decried his “harassment” as a “witch hunt.”
