Laurie Johnson, an esteemed composer greatest recognized for his work on The Avengers, had died at the age of 96.

Information of Johnson's demise was confirmed on January 22 with a music publisher confirming he died peacefully in his sleep.

A press release on the Bucks Music Group website read: 'It's with great unhappiness we have now to announce the passing of British producer/composer Laurie Johnson.

'He was dearly liked by many and is sorely missed by his spouse Dot, daughter Sarah, son in regulation Richard and grandson Lawrence.'

It added: 'Laurie died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday 16th January, abandoning a legacy that may eternally resonate in our hearts.'

Johnson's household additionally paid tribute to the composer, saying: 'Laurie's music touched the lives of tens of millions around the globe.

'Throughout his illustrious career, he composed quite a few iconic scores, themes and soundtracks that graced our lives across film, TV, theatre and radio.

"In this time of mourning, we draw power from the gorgeous reminiscences we shared with him.

'We keep in mind Laurie as a unprecedented particular person who embraced life with ardour and introduced pleasure to so many.

'His kindness, compassion and infectious sense of fun and laughter can be profoundly missed by all that knew him.'

Johnson started creating music for beloved TV collection The Avengers, first creating a punchier theme tune before happening to supply extra music for the present.

Jazz musician Sir John Dankworth had originally composed music for three collection of basic spy collection The Avengers, that includes a forged including Dame Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee throughout the 1960s.

Johnson's music was also used in the sequel The New Avengers, featuring Dame Joanna Lumley and Macnee.

Along with The Avengers, Johnson also labored on a number of well-liked and movie and TV collection, including The Professionals, Animal Magic, This Is Your Life and Jason King.

His other film credits embrace Dr Strangelove, Tiger Bay and It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet.
