Eddie Howe did not sound too involved about Alexander Isak's 'slight groin problem' after the forward limped out of Newcastle's win at Aston Villa on Tuesday night time.

'I'd wish to say it was my choice however it was Alex's choice [to come off]. He felt he had to come off.

'We're hopeful it's not a critical damage, it doesn't look too dangerous nevertheless it's very early to say that. We'd like a correct analysis and then assess from there.'

With the transfer window closing on 1 February, Howe was not about to dive into the market because of Isak's damage, neither is he eager to let anybody go.

Requested of attainable departures, he stated: 'I don't know. I don't assume so at this late stage. I'd be very happy for the window to shut with no ins and outs.'
