Ukraine has been advised to make a 'painful compromise' and surrender some of its territory to Russia.

Robert Fico, prime minister of Slovakia – a member of Nato, stated that the one method out of the war is for Volodymyr Zelensky to give up the captured land.

'There needs to be some sort of compromise,' the PM informed public broadcaster RTVS on Saturday, in line with media stories.

'What do they anticipate, that the Russians will depart Crimea, Donbas and Luhansk? That's unrealistic.'

The politician – who has been blasted as 'another certainly one of Vladimir Putin's puppets' since his comments – additionally reiterated his opposition to a future Nato membership for Ukraine.

He harassed it might 'merely be a basis for World Conflict III', adding that he plans to block the country's accession to the alliance.

'Ukraine just isn't an unbiased and sovereign nation,' Fico added, but 'beneath the whole influence and management of america'.
