Celine Dion Announces Documentary About Her Stiff-Person Syndrome Battle
Céline Dion will tell the story of her battle towards stiff person syndrome (SPS) in a new documentary.
The five-time Grammy winner, 55, announced on Tuesday, January 30 that Amazon MGM Studios bought the rights to I Am: Céline Dion and the doc will debut on Prime Video.
"This final couple of years has been such a problem for me, the journey from discovering my condition to studying the best way to stay with and manage it, but to not let it define me," Dion shared in a press release on Tuesday.
"Because the street to resuming my performing profession continues, I've realized how much I have missed it, of with the ability to see my followers," she continued. "Throughout this absence, I decided I needed to doc this a part of my life, to try to increase awareness of this little-known condition, to assist others who share this analysis."
The documentary, which was directed by Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor, chronicles Dion's battle with SPS, a rare neurological dysfunction that impacts the mind and the spinal twine.
