Donald Trump's golfing abilities have long been a subject of scrutiny - so much so that the President felt the need to explain why it's "impossible" for him to cheat at the sport during his weekend visit to Ireland. The 80-year old is in the country for two days for official diplomatic engagements, but also made a stop at the Irish Open golf tournament at his Doonbeg resort in County Clare onSaturday (September 12).

Trump made a dramatic entrance at the course, bringing the tournament to a halt as his Marine One helicopter touched down at the West Clare golf course, which he has owned since 2014. Later that day, he addressed the media, explaining why he'd never get away with repositioning his ball to a more favorable spot on the fairway.

"We had hundreds of Secret Service all over the course," he explained. "They said, 'Does Trump cheat?' I said I can't cheat - you have 250 secret service agents running around."

The US president elaborated: "It's not that I wouldn't cheat, but you can't move the ball... I don't know if they play enough, but they know you can't move the ball around!"

One X user fired back with a sharp response: "Trump basically admitted, 'I WOULD cheat... but Secret Service won't let me! Bro turned a golf cheating allegation into a whole comedy routine."

A second person questioned: "Why would Secret Service report his cheating? There's already enough videos and stories. His statement he would cheat is not surprising. The question should be - why? What value in his club titles?".

A third remarked: "Wow he kinda almost told the truth! There are many videos of Trump cheating on the golf course and many videos of Trump playing golf. None of those videos show 250 anything around him."

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "Admitting he would cheat tells us all we about his character and the upcoming elections."

Trump has faced cheating accusations from numerous celebrities and playing partners over the years, making his exceptional scores a matter of scrutiny.

The President's caddie has also been accused of moving played shots and assisting the president during rounds.

In fact, Rick Reilly, author of "Commander in Cheat," has repeatedly disputed Trump's golfing claims and has indicated that his scores without caddie assistance would be closer to 90 over 18 holes.

That said, golfing icon Ernie Els was there in 2022 when Trump allegedly scored a hole-in-one at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. The four-time major champion still clearly recalls the moment and his response to seeing the impressive shot.

"We throw our clubs in the air. You know, 'it's unbelievable,'" Els remembered at the time. "You play with the ex-president, and he makes a hole-in-one. How many times does that happen? That's the thing that goes through your mind.

"He hits the ball better than I've seen any... I mean, he's 75," he continued. "But he can really strike the ball. He makes good contact. He's got a good swing."

Over the course of its eight seasons, *The Vampire Diaries*' mythology changed every now and then to fit a certain story. But in its seventh season, the show delivered its biggest change from its established mythology when, suddenly, Caroline (Candice King) became pregnant via a magical transfer. Even though she was a vampire, she was somehow carrying Alaric (Matthew Davis) and Jo's (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) twins.

The twist was something the writers thought up as a way to soften the tragedy at the end of season 6 when Kai (Chris Wood) killed Jo and her unborn children—on her wedding day, no less. "We had always left that [story thread] hanging on instinct," writer Neil Reynolds says during episode 7 of *EW's Binge: The Vampire Diaries*.

Executive producer Julie Plec adds, "Because of the tragedy of the twins and Jo dying and looking for story for Alaric for the season, we had separately come up with the story of the woman who knocks on his door and is like, 'I think I'm pregnant with your babies.'" But the writers weren't sure if that twist was *too* crazy, so they didn't originally plan to go there. Until star Candice King called to let them know she was pregnant. "I was very nervous to make that call," King says on the podcast.

Ultimately, the writers decided to work in King's pregnancy and use the aforementioned story, only instead of a random woman showing up pregnant, Caroline would carry Ric's kids. Plec remembers warning CW president Mark Pedowitz about "the most bananas thing" she was ever going to pitch him at the time, but surprisingly, he wasn't fazed. And thus Caroline's pregnancy became part of the series and will always go down as one of the show's most unexpected turns.

Elaine Hendrix opened up about her favorite parts of her 50s while chatting with PEOPLE at the Celebrating Women of Emmy Season event in Los Angeles on Sept. 10

“I’m so much more settled in my own skin,” she said

The Parent Trap actress will turn 56 in December

Elaine Hendrix is feeling fabulous in her 50s.

The Parent Trap actress, 55, caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at the Celebrating Women of Emmy Season event in Los Angeles on Thursday, Sept. 10, and shared how she is embracing this decade of her life.

Reflecting on her favorite parts of her 50s, she said, “Number one, I finally have the wisdom that I thought I had growing up. You know, when you’re young, you think you know everything. And I’m wise enough now to go, ‘I don’t know everything, but I do know a lot.’ And that’s good.”

“The second part to that is that I don’t care,” Hendrix continued. “I got all this wisdom, so there are so many things that I thought I needed that now I don’t need. So I’m just — I could sum it up by saying that I’m so much more settled in my own skin.”

Comparing the aging journeys of women and men — specifically the newfound confidence that many women experience — she added, “I think it is a little bit of a role reversal, and it’s societal and it’s chemical. They lose testosterone and gain estrogen. We lose estrogen and gain testosterone.”

“That’s certainly a part of it,” Hendrix continued. “And then society places so much importance on, you know, strapping young men, being so virile, and then older women are these crones who are supposed to disappear into the woods and talk to woodland creatures all the time.”

The actress said she believes it’s “a great time to be alive” for women.

“Shout-out to Gloria Steinem, that giant of a woman we just lost and all the incredible work she did, and so many other women, so that we can, in this day and age, feel empowered and feel like, ‘F--- yeah, we’re here, we deserve to be here, and we’re needed,’ ” Hendrix added. (The feminist activist died on Sept. 2 at the age of 92.)

Last year, Hendrix competed on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars alongside pro partner Alan Bersten. She was 54 at the time and made history as only the third woman over 50 to reach the show’s finale (following Jennifer Grey and Kirstie Alley).

Hendrix celebrated her DWTS feat in an Instagram post on Aug. 25, writing over a clip of herself lip-syncing in her car: “When I decided to chase a dream at 54 and proved it’s never too late to live your best life.”

In the caption of the post, she added, “Turns out the best years don’t come with an age limit 💋💃🏼.”

Opening up about her experience on the ABC competition show in a December 2025 interview with PEOPLE, Hendrix said she learned “just what I’m actually capable of.”

“I had high expectations of myself, and I blew them out of the water,” she explained. “To really believe in yourself when you have a dream… I gave it every ounce of my heart and soul, and it was worth it.”

Iconic Canadian pop singer Céline Dion has kicked off her long-awaited comeback show in Paris on Saturday, after a six-year hiatus due to health issues.

The 58-year-old superstar was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome in 2022, which forced her to pull back from touring.

Dion, one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, has not performed a full show since a 2020 concert in New Jersey - the last before the Covid pandemic cut her tour short. In 2024, she performed just one song at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony.

Saturday marked the first of Dion's 26-show residency at the Paris La Défense Arena, Europe's largest covered concert arena.

"I made a promise," she told the Paris audience of about 30,000 people in her emotional return.

"I made a promise to come back, to be back on stage. And here I am. Singing for you, and singing for me," she said.

"I am everything I am because you loved me," she told the crowd.

She also broke down in tears after finishing a song, telling the audience: "I had promised myself not to cry."

"But I'm so happy to see you all. I missed you."

They weren't the only tears of the night, as the star appeared to be overcome with emotion several times.

Dion will be performing in Paris throughout September and October and into the New Year.

The Mirror's Lucy Needham noted that the singer was 50 minutes late to start, and may have needed extra time to "compose herself" for the "emotionally charged return".

"Eyes-brimming, the veteran singer gave herself little nods of approval after every line, before finally breaking down at the end of the track, seemingly overwhelmed at having made it through."

After beginning her set in a black gown, she later changed into a trouser suit "to show off some of those signature kooky dance moves," says Needham, adding that she appeared "to be having the time of her life, gyrating and slapping her thighs with glee".

The night was a "a tense, tearful, joyous affair probably even more so for the singer than for her loyal audience," writes The Telegraph's Neil McCormick.

She started out slow, he says. "Her voice sounded fragile and exposed, but at least it was her distinctive voice, not some autotuned approximation."

"At first, she was clearly struggling to hold herself together," he continues. "Her vocals wobbled dangerously, as if about to crack or collapse. But she was gaining confidence with every moment back on stage."

She broke down in tears as the audience roared in approval after the first song, and addressed the crowd in both French and English during the set.

"This was a high-stakes, high-wire return, perhaps the riskiest comeback in the history of showbusiness," McCormick continues, referring to her health condition.

But he concludes: "I honestly think I prefer this less superhuman Céline. Her voice is still great, but a bit more raw and real, with a rougher tone, less smoothness in the runs and more edge to her whoops and shrieks."

Sarah Leavitt, reporting from Paris for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), said the crowd "was left without words" by the stunning performance.

She noted that she didn't want to cry, but "of course she cried right away."

Dion also "endeared herself" to the crowd by saying during one song that she wanted to stop and start over.

Will Hodgkinson at the Times of London writes in his review, "miraculously, her art will go on," that the performance was "overwhelming".

She "looked suitably humbled and tearful" as she emerged, he said, going on to praise the stage direction.

"Truly, she was throwing the love at the crowd, who threw it right back at her. There was no holding back. It was quite overwhelming, actually," he writes.

The performance was "complete with both costume, key change and air of tragic, important romance".

"Céline Dion's strength lies in being a diva with the common touch while being as French as they get, even if she is Canadian. She fulfilled that role with all the verve you could hope for," writes Hodgkinson.

"The concert had a spiritual feel, with visual interludes steeped in biblical imagery alluding to a pilgrimage," Elsa Keslassy writes for Variety.

In video clips, Dion is seen wandering in a desert. "The set design was highly cinematic, with a monumental staircase sweeping up one side and a moon dominating the stage, while the backdrop appeared to have a stark, almost brutalist gray texture."

The star, known for power ballads like My Heart Will Go On and Because You Loved Me, has said she will not let her diagnosis control her life.

"The way I see it, I have two choices. Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it's over," she told French Vogue magazine in 2024.

"I've chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team."

When Dion announced the first leg of her Paris residency back in March, nine million fans signed up for early access tickets to the concerts, French outlet FRI reported.

The shows sold out so fast that her management company soon announced an additional 10 shows scheduled for May 2027, which have also since sold out.

Fans who were unable to snag tickets to one of the highly anticipated shows have not been left out entirely - events honouring Dion's comeback have dominated Paris in recent weeks.

Céline Dion tribute boat cruises on Seine - complete with costume contests, sing-alongs, DJ sets, are happening throughout September.

Ahead of Saturday's show, fans gathered outside Dion's Paris hotel, LeRoyal Monceau, as early as 06:00 local time to catch a glimpse of the star.

Paris City Hall organised a massive karaoke event on Friday night, attended by thousands, to celebrate Dion's return to the stage.

"I couldn't get tickets to the concert. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping, but I thought to myself: at least I can share a moment here with all the fans," Rania, a participant at the event, told Reuters.

Earlier this week, thousands of fans also gathered at a historic theatre in central Paris for two nights of karaoke and activities inspired by Dion's music.

And Paris venues and night clubs are hosting Dion-themed events around the city on Saturday night for fans who couldn't get tickets to the actual show.

William Shatner shared why the first pilot of Star Trek was scrapped.

The rejected episode was titled “The Cage” and starred Jeffrey Hunter in the lead role as Captain Christopher Pike.

Shatner was later offered the role of Captain James Kirk in the second pilot, which he said was “an example of the crazy magic of science fiction.”

Before there was Captain Kirk, there was Captain Pike.

William Shatner recently recalled the moment he was offered a role on the original Star Trek series. The opportunity came after NBC had rejected the show’s first pilot, titled “The Cage,” which saw Jeffrey Hunter in the lead role as Captain Christopher Pike.

“They made a pilot, and they had all these characters, including Spock who smiled a lot,” Shatner shared with Paul Wesley in an Interview Magazine piece published Tuesday. “Nobody quite grasped the character they were going to play. They presented it to NBC, and NBC said, ‘We don’t like it, but it’s sufficiently interesting and curious and different.’”

Rather than toss the entire show, the network gave the production team another chance to get it right. Although they would go on without Hunter.

“They said something that I’ve never heard of before or after,” Shatner recalled. “They said to Paramount, ‘We’ll give you another amount of money’ — whatever that was — ‘to make another pilot, but rewrite it, do another draft of another script, and recast it.’”

As a result, Shatner, who had been living in New York at the time, had gotten the call to go to Los Angeles and play Captain James Kirk. He was offered the role outright, which he thinks was a result of his TV work in New York. The 95-year-old remarked that “they had seen enough of me to make a conclusion based on everything I had been doing.”

“I came back to Los Angeles, saw the pilot, and thought, ‘My gosh, that’s really different and interesting,’” he continued. “They recast everybody except Leonard [Nimoy, who played Spock], who grasped the role, made it his own, and we made another pilot and this one sold.”

The original series ran for three seasons from 1966 to 1969. Since then, the Star Trek franchise has borne 14 films and 13 different TV series, including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which sees Shatner’s interview partner Wesley take on the mantle as Captain Kirk.

Shatner explained that the second pilot was special because it played with the audience’s imagination. The world-building in Star Trek was “an example of the crazy magic of science fiction,” he said, which has endured throughout the decades.

“In that pilot, I was attracted to the magic, the imagination behind that pilot with the swollen heads and the pulsing,” he said. “It was such wonderful makeup. It was intriguing from many points of view. I saw what NBC must have seen, a certain pomposity, a certain, ‘To the starboard, sir.’ That character was just in my wheelhouse, I guess.”

Zendaya ditched her signature curls for her most dramatic hair transformation yet.

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day star debuted her super-short pixie cut during a girls’ night out in New York City with her Euphoria co-stars, Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie.

Zendaya’s surprise hair transformation comes less than two weeks after she celebrated her 30th birthday.

Zendaya’s 2026 press circuit has been a whirlwind of angelic waves and edgy glam. From rocking arachnid-inspired bangs during her Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour to sporting ethereal goddess makeup during her press tour for The Odyssey, her red-carpet glam game has reached new heights. Off the red carpet, the Dune: Part Three star is proving that she doesn’t need a movie premier to turn heads.

On September 11, Zendaya debuted her shortest haircut in years during a night out in New York City with her Euphoria costars, Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie. While reuniting with her costars at Rule of Thirds, a Japanese restaurant, the Golden Globe-winner stepped showed off her ear-grazing new pixie cut, complete with textured waves that brushed against the back of her neck, per photos shared by DeuxMoi on September 12.

For the girls’ night, Zendaya opted for a fitted, long-sleeved sweater in strawberry-red and a pair of white denim pants, which she styled with black loafers. She completed the look with a taupe leather tote bag.

Zendaya’s dramatic hair transformation is a noticeable departure from her signature bixie hairstyle, which she’s been rocking since early 2026, shortly before tying the knot with Tom Holland. Experimenting with several hairstyles in recent months, the 30 year old has been embracing her short hair’s natural, curly texture on the red carpet, while occasionally opting for voluminous extensions.

Notably, on July 13, she showed off a long pixie cut with glossy bangs and curls that extended past her earlobes. Again, on August 13—shortly after her secret second wedding to Holland—the Euphoria actress debuted a subtle “shixie” cut during a day out in London with her husband. “The shixie is a haircut that falls somewhere between a pixie and a short shag, usually hitting around the ears or grazing the nape of the neck,” hairstylist Sheila Guillermo told InStyle. “It features lots of soft, choppy layers that create movement and texture instead of blunt lines. It typically has volume at the crown, piecey ends, and an effortless, lived-in look.”

Zendaya’s girls’ night out comes less than two weeks after she celebrated her 30th birthday.
