The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley has made a surprising confession about working with Nina Dobrev. The duo starred in the CW drama for six seasons after which Dobrev left the show. Over a decade later, Wesley has opened up about his behavior and feud with Dobrev on the show.

In an interview on Call Her Daddy, Wesley admitted he was more intense about acting during his The Vampire Diaries years, describing himself as “grumpy” at the time. The actor took full responsibility for the tension that developed between him and Nina Dobrev.
“First of all, we were all in out 20s. I will take a lot of responsibility because I was a bit of a curmudgeon, grumpy, pain in the ass,” Wesley said. “I was like, ‘I’m taking my acting seriously!'”

“But we were both professional, and the work mattered to us. So we would butt heads on set but then the minute the cameras rolled it was like, we knew we wanted to make it magical.”

Wesley added that “for whatever reason” he and Dobrev had good on-screen chemistry. Following her exit, Dobrev returned as a guest star in the show’s finale. By then, the feud between the two actors had fizzled out. He also revealed telling Dobrev that she would miss him once she left the show. When the duo met once again while filming the finale, according to Wesley, Dobrev admitted that she had also missed him in the years following her exit.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the two actors would reunite on screen once again for a new drama series titled You Deserve to Know. In addition to starring in it, both actors are also executive producing the series.
