A concert-goer has been spared jail after he beat up a bald man whereas claiming the glare from his head ruined his view.

Andrew Ridley attacked Mack Stevens throughout a Monster Truck gig at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on April 19, 2019.

The victim suffered a bleed to the brain after the attack and had to take three weeks off work.

The 'two center aged men at a music live performance' clashed after Ridley blamed Mr Stevens for ruining his view of the canadian rock band – claiming the venue's lighting was shining off his bald head.

Ridley, who's balding himself, pushed Mr Stevens to the bottom, knocking him unconscious.

Prosecutor Matilda Robinson-Murphy informed Birmingham crown courtroom: 'At round eight.30pm an altercation started between Mr Stevens and the defendant.

'Insulting comments have been made to Mark Stevens. Witnesses noticed Mr Stevens push Ridley to the chest but the push was not onerous sufficient to make him fall over.

'What happened subsequent was that Ridley pushed Mark Stevens to the floor, knocking him unconscious.

'Robinson then straddled Mr Stevens and continued to punch him onerous to the face and physique.'

Mr Stevens now suffers from hypertension and brief term memory loss following the assault – and he now not attends live shows.

Ridley initially went to trial in August 2022 accused of wounding with intent, but the trial was abandoned after he admitted inflicting grievous bodily hurt.

He was handed a 15 month jail sentence, suspended for 2 years, on Monday. He was additionally ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work and pay £150 compensation.

During sentencing, Recorder William Webb stated: 'You stood close to Mr Stevens and a verbal altercation arose between the two of you.

'What was stated shouldn't be necessary however matters received increasingly more heated.

'This seems to have been a one off occasion, a really critical aberration you have got paid dearly for.'
