- Universal Orlando to close its Fast & Furious: Supercharged ride in the near future.

- Universal Studios Florida will then open the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift spinning roller coaster.

- The new coaster will replace the old Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster, and travel 170 feet in the air with cars that spin.

When one *Fast & Furious* family falls, another rises in its place — sometimes to heights of 170 feet in the air, as is the case with a new roller coaster heading to Florida's Universal Orlando Resort.

Following the closure of its 26-year-old Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster in 2025, Universal Studios Florida revealed Tuesday the beloved attraction's highly anticipated replacement: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a new spinning roller coaster themed to the blockbuster *Fast & Furious* movie franchise starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, and more.

The new roller coaster — which shares its name with a similar coaster set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood later this year — will feature cars themed to automobiles that spin 360 degrees along the course. The track includes various elements, but most notably a 170-foot vertical spike that extends out toward the Universal CityWalk retail and dining sector outside park.

To make way for the new roller coaster, the Orlando park's existing *Fast & Furious* ride, titled Fast & Furious: Supercharged, will close in 2027, ending its nine-season run at the park.

First opened in 2018, Supercharged takes riders on a screen-based journey through an original story in the *Fast* franchise, with guests boarding buses to join a celebration at Sullivan's garage, only to be pursued by the FBI and Owen Shaw (played by Luke Evans in the film series).

While Universal Orlando's Supercharged opened as a stand-alone ride, Universal Studios Hollywood operated a similar attraction as a smaller segment on its storied Studio Tour tram ride. Though the tram attraction still operates, the *Fast & Furious*-themed portion closed in 2025 as construction ramped up on the Hollywood park's Fast & Furious roller coaster.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open as the latest in a growing line of roller coasters themed to major intellectual properties at the Universal Orlando Resort. In 2021, the resort's Islands of Adventure theme park opened the VelociCoaster set in the *Jurassic World *universe, complete with new queue-area scenes starring film actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Islands of Adventure also operates two roller coasters themed to the *Harry Potter *franchise — Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Flight of the Hippogriff — while Universal Studios Florida boasts an additional *Harry Potter* coaster (Escape from Gringotts), an indoor launched coaster inspired by Brendan Fraser's *The Mummy* films, and the Trollercoaster, a mild children's coaster based on the animated *Trolls* series.**

The resort's newest park, Epic Universe, opened in 2025 with roller coasters set in the worlds of the *Donkey Kong *video games, the *How to Train Your Dragon *cinematic universe, the realm of classic Universal monsters, and the celestial-themed Stardust Racers multi-launch coaster.
