Griff is opening up about having a champion in Taylor Swift.
The British singer-songwriter, 25, caught up exclusively with PEOPLE at Warner Music Group's Pre-Grammys Party in Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 29, and reflected on what it's been like to have Swift, 36, supporting her music career.
"Insane. I grew up listening to her. Fearless is like one of the most important albums to me in my music. So the amount of support that she's given me over the years is kind of wild," she said, before sharing the important career advice Swift once gave her.
"I remember meeting her at the BRITs [in 2021], and we sat down, and she was just very encouraging," Griff recalled. "She was just saying, 'Make decisions for yourself and don't listen to the noise, and just do what you want to do and need to do.' "
"It was just before she dropped the re-record of Red, and it was so crazy to just kind of see her journey," she added.

Griff (born Sarah Faith Griffiths) also spoke to PEOPLE about Swift's upcoming wedding to fiancé Travis Kelce. Asked if she's excited about the pair's nuptials, she replied, "Oh, my God. Who isn't?"
As for whether she is hoping to make the guest list, Griff said, "No, just happy to watch from the screen."

Two years after meeting Swift backstage at the 2021 BRIT Awards, Griff released her catchy track "Vertigo." Swift shouted her out on Instagram Stories, writing, "Damn Griff I love this one," as she shared the single.
"Her popping up the other week and posting 'Vertigo' is the most crazy thing because it's like — she never posts and she really doesn't have to do that," Griff later told PEOPLE of Swift's unexpected shout-out. "So it's really kind of her to be so generous with promoting that. It's really cool."

"We don't really have a constant point of contact," she said of her relationship with the "Opalite" singer at the time. "She's like this fairy godmother that pops up and makes things amazing for me, and then I just live in that for the next period. It's amazing."
Griff credited Swift with influencing her songwriting — as well as that of many others — telling PEOPLE, "I think she's clearly raised a whole new generation of artists and songwriters."
Just months after Swift's show of support on social media, Griff opened for the 14-time Grammy Award winner during an Eras Tour show in London in June 2024. At the time, Griff revealed to PEOPLE how she came to land the opening slot.

"I actually bumped into Taylor at a Kendrick Lamar concert in London. It was so surreal to see her there," she recalled about interacting with Swift before Lamar's Big Steppers Tour show in November 2022.
"We spoke a little, and I was congratulating her on everything, and she mentioned then at some point she would love to have me [as an opener on tour one day]," Griff continued. "I was dying."
"Well, I wasn't totally sure I heard her correctly at first, but I watched the whole Kendrick show grinning ear to ear," she remembered.
The "Miss Me Too" singer told PEOPLE that being hand-picked by Swift "[meant] so much."
"It's pretty wild," she said. "Fearless was the first album I remember falling in love with as a kid. I'm always just so inspired by how she can have such a huge career but stay so close to the songwriting process."
"I'm just forever eternally grateful to Taylor and to all the Swifties that have been so welcoming when it was announced," she added of her Eras Tour gig.
