Spoiler alert: This story includes details from the first four episodes of Netflix's "Bridgerton" Season 4 (now streaming).
Though we're only four episodes in Season 4 of "Bridgerton," the ton has been up to quite a bit.
The latest season kicked off with Lady Violet Bridgerton's (Ruth Gemmell) much-awaited masquerade ball, where five minutes after saying he will never find a woman in the ton worthy of his affections, the second Bridgerton son, Benedict (Luke Thompson), finds himself enamored by a captivating Lady in Silver who looks as out of place at the ball as he feels. Sparks fly and the two banter, dance, and even kiss.
But when the masks are supposed to come off at the stroke of midnight, the lady flees, leaving only a glove behind and setting the stage for the Cinderella fairytale Thompson teased.
Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek and Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton in in "Bridgerton."
While by the end of Part 1, Benedict has not managed to uncover the elusive Lady in Silver, despite his family and Lady Whistledown's (Nicola Coughlan) efforts, he finds himself drawn to a maid, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), after saving her from assault. The two then have to take shelter at the Bridgertons' fairy tale cottage in the countryside.
When they return to Mayfair from their countryside holiday, Benedict sets Sophie up as a maid at the Bridgerton mansion; despite the promise to stay out of her way, he finds himself unable to keep away, eventually succumbing to his feelings and declaring himself in the worst possible manner by asking Sophie to be his mistress, leaving viewers on a cliffhanger.

USA TODAY TV Critic Kelly Lawler gave Season 4 ★★ out of four, writing "it was always going to be a challenge to adapt the second Bridgerton son's story for the Netflix series, and that's not even including how many fans think the character should be queer."
"And when you look at the plot of his story from the Julia Quinn novels from which the smash series takes its narratives, the show's writers were presented with a further challenge: How do you take a literal Cinderella story and make it interesting for audiences who have been hearing 'bippity boppity boo' since preschool?" Kelly continued. "The answer, seemingly, is the sometimes fun but often deeply frustrating fourth season of 'Bridgerton.'"
Here's what to know about Season 4, Part 2 of "Bridgerton," including the release date and cast information.
Review: 'Bridgerton' Season 4 is a fairy tale ... that we've seen too much
