Arsenal legend Paul Merson has raised considerations over two of Mikel Arteta's players and has shared a brand new verdict on the Premier League title race.

Liverpool sit prime of the desk on 48 points after a 4-0 win at AFC Bournemouth, by which they didn't have key duo Mohamed Salah or Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Manchester Metropolis, Arsenal and Aston Villa make up the current prime 4 and are all on 43 points, although Pep Guardiola's aspect have a recreation in hand over the others.

Many tipped Arsenal for glory in the summer after they pushed Metropolis all the best way final time period but the Gunners suffered a poor run of type across December and January, choosing up one win in five top-flight video games earlier than beating Crystal Palace.

Merson does not assume his previous club are out of the race simply but however he is frightened about strikers Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah amid their wrestle for objectives.

'I feel Arsenal are nonetheless within the title race,' Merson informed Sky Sports. 'That they had an enormous outcome the opposite day they usually're still there and thereabouts, so you need to put them in the equation.

'But Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah gained't score as many objectives between them as Salah – and he is on the suitable wing. That's an enormous advantage for Liverpool, who might be within the race for a very long time if they hold enjoying as they're.'

Merson has warned Liverpool that Arsenal and Chelsea might end their Premier League title challenge within the area of every week and is backing Metropolis for the trophy.

'I've all the time stated Liverpool might be there on the end of the season,' Merson added. 'They only have loads of forwards – five of them in truth – they usually all score objectives.

'You see Darwin Nunez missing a great deal of possibilities – I might slightly have a forward missing masses than one who appears like he's never going to get one.

'Luis Diaz, Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota – bar Salah there's not lots between them. In order that they've all the time obtained somebody – that's an enormous advantage for them.

'Should you take Erling Haaland out of the Man City assault, it's weaker as there's no-one there to switch him with. Sure they've Julian Alvarez, who is an effective participant and can do a job, but he's not Haaland.

'I gained't say Liverpool are title favourites though. Metropolis can simply churn, churn and churn out wins. They will go 10 games without dropping, simply. Take a look at them now, they've gained eight out of their final nine matches [in all competitions].

'Their squad is just too massive. They've had one in every of Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne out because the begin of the season they usually're still there.

'The distinction between City, Liverpool and Arsenal is Metropolis can go for 10 wins in a row and no one can pay any consideration to it. If Liverpool and Arsenal do it, it's an enormous factor.

'And it might all be over for Liverpool in the title race in one week. They play Chelsea at residence – you haven't any concept which Chelsea goes to turn up. They will play, so that's a hard recreation.

'Then they go Arsenal away, and if it goes like the best way the FA Cup recreation went then Arsenal will win that recreation. Before you already know it, it's throughout for Liverpool.'
