The on-air crew of NBC’s “Today” show on Thursday morning celebrated some good news for one of their own: co-anchor and apparent eye candy Craig Melvin.

Melvin reluctantly participated in a quick coronation during Thursday’s broadcast as fellow anchors Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Carson Daly announced his victory in People magazine’s latest Sexiest Man Alive Readers’ Choice Poll. The poll named Melvin its sexiest morning show host, officially dubbing him “Hotter Than Your Morning Cup of Coffee.” Craig was nominated for the category last month, Daly said.

During Thursday’s show, Guthrie draped a sash across Melvin as Daly placed a dark-blue towel over Melvin’s shoulders cape-style. After some hesitation, the co-anchor finally placed his crown on his head. He removed the headpiece shortly after. His acceptance speech?

“Thanks to my mom and my wife who voted at least 120 times, I’m sure,” Melvin said.

The co-anchor, who has been part of the NBC news family for almost two decades, is married to sports reporter Lindsay Ann Czarniak. She called in to Thursday’s show to congratulate her husband.

“You’ve got bragging rights now, Lindsay. You see the sexiest morning show host every day around the house. What is that like for you?” Roker asked. At the same time, Melvin exclaimed: “Are you kidding me?!”

Czarniak replied: “Almost too much to bear, Al.”

She later told Melvin that she is proud because he “is sexy at heart as well.”

In the People readers’ choice poll, Melvin is in fine company. Poll winners include Stephen Colbert, Travis Kelce, “Bridgerton” star Victor Alli and English soccer star Jude Bellingham.

People will unveil its 2026 Sexiest Man Alive in November.

The View cohosts banded together to slam Megyn Kelly over the latter’s shaming of Christina Applegate amid her multiple sclerosis misdiagnosis.

Kelly said on her talk show that Applegate’s advocacy for MS visibility was “a wild goose chase.”

“Are you crazy?” Whoopi Goldberg asked, while Ana Navarro compared Kelly to a “fungus.”

The View cohosts took an impassioned stand against Megyn Kelly over the controversial conservative’s incendiary remarks about actress Christina Applegate’s multiple sclerosis misdagnosis.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg blasted Kelly on Thursday over the latter’s comments shaming the Dead to Me star for breaking down in tears in a recent episode of her MeSsy podcast, in which she revealed that doctors misdiagnosed her with the neurological condition five years ago. Applegate added that she’s still experiencing debilitating symptoms stemming from unknown origin.

“This is, like, the problem with celebrities like wanting to lean into their health problems,” Kelly said in a clip from her Megyn Kelly Show that The View played on air during the Hot Topics discussion. In the footage, Kelly pointed out that Applegate hosted the MS-focused podcast with fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, but criticized that she’s “now come out to tell us all she doesn’t actually have it, this has all been a wild goose chase. She’s crying now because I guess she no longer gets to be the face of this disease.”

Goldberg looked to The View’s camera to deliver a message to Kelly, whom she reminded that, as Applegate and a neurological doctor pointed out on the aforementioned MeSsy episode, “there isn’t a single test that determines someone has MS.”

Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin on ‘The View’Credit: ABC

“So, let me ask you, m’am, you think Christina wanted to have MS so she could have a good time? Are you crazy?” Goldberg said, before panelist Sara Haines asked, “Who wants to be the face of MS?”

Haines called the disease a “debilitating, degenerative, neurological disease,” and pointed out that Applegate is still “hurting” without a new diagnosis.

“Talk about kicking someone when they’re down. She got a diagnosis and wanted to help other people,” Haines continued. “[She’s] now feeling the pain of not knowing what her identity is and, more importantly, what her diagnosis is. Megyn Kelly sold her soul for politics. Which one did a better job here? She literally has sunk so low in my book.”

Republican cohost Ana Navarro admitted that she didn’t “even want to get into the Megyn Kelly of it all because I think she’s like a fungus that thrives on oxygen that she gets by purposely creating outrage” on sensitive topics.

“She’s a bully,” Haines added. Navarro alleged that Kelly is “a bully for money,” before connecting the topic to her own husband, Al Cardenas, and her recent reveal that he has Parkinson’s, another neurological disease that celebrities like Michael J. Fox and Carly Simon also have.

“Neurological diseases are incredibly difficult to diagnose and they are often misdiagnosed because there’s a lot of symptoms that mimic other symptoms,” Navarro said, praising Fox and Simon for helping people “destigmatize” the conditions through their public advocacy.

“I often say on this show, when you have a platform, there’s great responsibility with that, and when someone is using it for good, unlike Megyn Kelly, I think they should be applauded,” legal expert Sunny Hostin chimed in, before calling Kelly “an ugly person” over her remarks about Applegate.

“The idea that you would come out and say something like this, Megyn, is unbelievable, that you don’t have the wherewithal to recognize that someone is saying, ‘This is what’s happening to me,’” Goldberg said at the end of the segment. “That’s how we get through our lives. We connect to each other. That’s what this is about, and I’m going to connect to you and say rethink your position on this, because you’re wrong.”

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Applegate and Kelly for comment.

Applegate revealed on her podcast that a recent round of tests indicated that she did not, in fact, have MS, despite undergoing years of treatment for the disorder.

“You don’t get misdiagnosed, and then all of a sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better,” she told Sigler, who was diagnosed with MS in 2001. “I’ve gotten worse, in some ways. I’m back at square one. I don’t know what’s going on with me. That’s going to be an online investigation my doctors are going to get into to find out what’s been happening since 2021. Why did this happen? I have every symptom of someone with MS. Every single one. We both know that there are many things that mirror MS. Many different things.”

The View airs weekdays on ABC.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are the couple you want to go on a road trip with.

And not only because Shepard will handle all the driving.

Rather, the Armchair Expert podcast host and Bell, whose zeitgeist-enrapturing Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This returns for a third season Oct. 22, just seem like a really great hang.

"We understand each other's highs and lows and excitements and complaints," the Emmy-nominated actress said on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live in October. "We're both creative, so we can get deep into some random conversation and just feel like we're creating something together."

But even when they're creating with other people, no one is cheering harder for the other to get after it.

“One thing that I love so much about being married to him,” Bell told People in February, "is that he is never allergic to me shining more and more. He never gets insecure about it.”

Which isn't to say it's all roses, the 46-year-old acknowledging that she and Shepard—parents of daughters Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11—have been married "a long time" and they "work at it."

Kristen Bell/Instagram

And if this sounds almost too well-adjusted to be true, the couple have also been candid about going to couples counseling, the "incredibly toxic" pattern of fighting Bell admittedly engaged in early on, what they still bicker about and the times they almost broke up (as well as the one time they did)—as well as about all the work that goes into keeping their marriage healthy, lest anyone think that their 18-year relationship runs on wisecracks alone.

Though they do find each other hilarious. Most of the time.

"The only thing that I remember is that he talked so much. I was like, ‘This guy can talk!'" Bell said in 2019 on the Sunday Sitdown With Willie Geist, recalling their "no sparks whatsoever" first meeting in 2007 at Forgetting Sarah Marshall producer Shauna Robertson's birthday party. "I didn't know who he was. I was like, ‘Maybe that's one of the guys from Jackass or something."

AP Photo/Matt Sayles

Serendipitously, about two weeks later, Michael Rosenbaum brought Shepard with him to a Los Angeles Kings-Detroit Red Wings game, where a newly single Bell was also in attendance.

Shepard started talking to the Veronica Mars actress while Rosenbaum was busy talking hockey, as Bell chided the Smallville alum on a 2018 episode of his podcast Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum, then asked his fellow Michigan transplant if he could have the gum that was in her mouth and held out his hand.

Unbeknownst to Bell, Shepard had taken the liberty of getting her number from Robertson after the party that left the Frozen star initially unimpressed.

But after about two months of dating, Shepard broke up with her.

"We were on the road to something serious," Bell recalled to Rosenbaum, "and he said, 'I want to be very responsible with you because I really respect you. I'm still dating other people.'"

"In retrospect I realize how respectful that was, even though it broke my heart at the time," she added. "He wasn't going to continue to sort of date me like a real relationship and then have other dates on the side."

She was admittedly "devastated," but woke up the next day determined to keep having a good time as a single gal.

Four days later, Shepard called and said he'd made a mistake.

Bell still had her reservations, not least because he had a lot of stories about his more reckless days—and was friends with "pretty much" all of his exes, Shepard recalled on his YouTube series Mom's Car, which she admittedly found "'really wild'"—and he loved to reminisce.

On Sept. 4, 2025, Bell shared a carousel of family photos to mark her husband's 21 years of sobriety. But, she told Rosenbaum, "I had a lot of fears when we first started dating because he had a very wild past."

She explained, "If he has one sip of beer, there is a different person behind the wheel of his brain."

Therapy helped them realize that Bell needed an assurance when he told stories that "scared the s--t" out of her that those days were behind him, and Shepard obliged.

But they also fought "a lot," and Bell has admitted her fighting style wasn't the greatest.

"When we first met," she told Harry Connick Jr. on Harry in September 2017, "we fell madly in love and I love the dramatic exit. There is nothing I crave more."

So, she shared, "I'd yell something and then slam the bedroom door, then I'd slam the front door, then I'd get in my car and then I'd skid out the driveway and I would sit around the corner in my car and it felt so good—and I realized how incredibly toxic it was only after he pointed it out."

"Three months into our relationship," she continued, "he was like, 'You can't leave anymore during fights. I'm not going to do that.' I was like, 'What?' He's like, 'You can't do that.'"

Shepard "has a very high standard and a strong code of ethics," Bell said. "He was like, 'No, I have more respect for myself. I love you but I'm not going to do that my whole life.'"

Though while Bell agreed not to peel off from a fight, she still had to come to terms with sharing Shepard with the other love of his life—his 1967 Lincoln Continental.

"Lady Lincoln," Bell told Clever Movies while promoting their 2012 film Hit and Run. "She's been in Dax's life for 12 years. I have respect for the females that are my alphas, and ahead of me. I love her."

"She's your sister wife," Shepard interjected. Bell agreed, "And I'm fine being a sister wife. We have a great relationship."

Kristen Bell's Best Roles

In 2018, Bell estimated they had logged about 20,000 miles on road trips—but their respective travel styles were also something they had to hash out early on in the relationship. For instance, Shepard wanted to tow his Polaris RZR with them everywhere they went, even when he had no plans to use it.

"My one daughter has a Lambie, my other daughter has a blanket, my husband has a thousand-pound off-road vehicle," Bell quipped on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "And I...you know, have my vape pen."

They got engaged in 2009, but then announced their intent to tie the knot only after same-sex marriage was legal throughout the U.S.

Proposition 8, rescinding the right in California, had just passed in 2008. Shepard noted that they knew many gay couples and "it would not be nice to dunk on our friends."

The couple subsequently enjoyed a long engagement, welcoming Lincoln on March 23, 2013. Three months later, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act as unconstitutional, paving the way for legal same-sex marriage in all 50 states—and Bell re-proposed that day.

They still didn't make a spectacle of their nuptials, swapping vows at a courthouse with only a few witnesses in attendance.

Delta was born Dec. 19, 2014, Dax having paved the way for her name when he surprised Kristen one night by coming home with a bell inked on his ring finger with a "K," an "L" and a "D," even though Delta hadn't arrived yet.

And then they got to the business of, as Bell put it in a post celebrating Lincoln's 13th birthday in March, "the real stuff."

She told Collider in 2010 that she was a workaholic, "but I think your significant other should be way more important than your work."

And she doesn't care who knows it or what people think of such an arrangement.

"I would do everything together," Bell told Moviefone in March 2017. "I'm not sitting in the audience of my life. I'm not watching how I'm being perceived, I'm not tracking how I'm being perceived. I don't really care. I care if I wake up happy and I go to bed happy."

That, of course, remains a lofty goal for anybody.

Kevin Winter/Getty Images

Because as much as Bell wants "to be with and work with my husband," she also wants to do her own thing.

For instance, Shepard thought Bell being his guest on the February 2018 premiere of Armchair Expert would be a slam dunk. But, he later shared on Conan, "It was a disaster right out of the gate"—as Bell was eager to go to the crafts store that day.

Listening to the recording later, "I thought I was a little controlling, but it was vomitous how controlling I was," Shepard said. "And I really thought I should hide this from the public, and then I later thought, No, this is the whole thing. Sometimes we're in Samsung commercials canoodling at Christmas time, and sometimes we're screaming at each other about Michael's. That's just how it is."

On Valentine's Day that year, Bell offered up a handwritten primer that, as "an old married woman," she felt might be beneficial to share.

Remaining vulnerable with your partner, appreciating the privilege of having a partner, remembering to take time for yourself and remaining open to new ways of addressing problems when they inevitably crop up are some of the imperatives she listed that have worked for her and Shepard.

Meanwhile, she knows that they're in the spotlight, both as celebrities and as a #goals-inspiring couple. And admittedly she does feel pressure at times to not let anyone who's rooting for them down.

Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for Vanity Fair

"It is a lot of pressure," Bell told E! News in April 2018. But, she continued, "I highly doubt we will ever break up because we're just in too deep and I like him too much. Even when he's annoying, I really like him. I'm still like, 'I still want to be on the porch with you when I'm 80, but I really need you to get out of my face right now.' And we have a good, healthy back-and-forth about that."

And that dynamic has allowed both of them to flourish.

"I married my polar opposite," Bell told E! in 2024. "We are the antithesis of each other. We argue about absolutely everything, but there is a foundational trust that we've built that keeps us together and is quite stimulated by one another's opinions."

She reflected, "Being with someone who you are unlike or you don't have a ton of similarities with, it forces you to grow."

See Bell and Shepard's ever-evolving romance in photos:

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Steve Ballmer is serving a one-year suspension that's keeping him away from his beloved Los Angeles Clippers.

The team is determined to stay together in their billionaire owner's absence. And the Clippers started the season with a win, routing the Sacramento Kings 121-96 on Wednesday night in front of 17,927 fans at Intuit Dome.

“First off, that win was for Mr. Ballmer,” coach Tyronn Lue said in opening his postgame comments. “Just want to say thank you for everything and we’re still fighting for him.”

Ballmer was banned from all league and team activities in September after the NBA found the Clippers guilty of violating salary cap-circumvention rules involving Kawhi Leonard, who was traded to Toronto last month. The league said Ballmer knowingly sought to help Leonard obtain off-court income opportunities.

That means no phone calls, no texts, no hobnobbing. Only silence from a man who loves to talk, especially about his team.

“He was definitely here in spirit,” said Darius Garland, who led the Clippers with 30 points. “Somebody was at his seats and we felt the energy. It wasn’t his energy, but we felt his energy.”

Ballmer apologized for the scandal last month and said the team has already paid its $30 million fine. The punishment also included the loss of five consecutive draft picks from 2029 through 2033 and a six-month suspension for Lawrence Frank, president of basketball operations.

Looking over and not seeing Ballmer's familiar bald head in his courtside seat near the team bench was odd, Lue said.

“We keep him in our hearts,” Lue said. “He provided a great living for everyone in this arena. One of the best men that I know.”

Veteran center Brook Lopez missed Ballmer's over-the-top zeal that included fist-pumping, yelling and a flushed red face.

“He brings such a great energy, such a great enthusiasm to each and every home game,” Lopez said. “He’s always there sitting in his seat, rallying us, getting behind us, getting on the refs. I love that, obviously.”

In a mea culpa, the Clippers offered free parking at their glitzy, tech-heavy arena for the season opener. Ballmer privately financed the $2 billion project that opened in 2024 and hosted the All-Star Game in February.

“It's the house he built so we try to protect that as much as we can,” Garland said.

Ballmer would meet with Lue shortly before tipoff of every home game. Instead, John Gibson, who is filling Ballmer's roles of CEO and governor on an interim basis, talked with the coach.

“But there's nobody like Mr. Ballmer and we miss him,” Lue said. “We've got to keep it going for him.”

'Clears Caitlin Clark,' 'Finals MVP Loading' -- WNBA World Raves As Angel Reese, Dream Crush Valkyries To Take 2-1 Finals Lead

Angel Reese is making her presence felt on the biggest stage of her young WNBA career. After the Atlanta Dream’s 79-65 Game 2 road win tied the series, the Defensive Player of the Year helped her team take control of the WNBA Finals with another double-double outing against the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.

Playing in front of a sold-out crowd at State Farm Arena, the Dream, led by the three-time All-Star, cruised to a 97-71 Game 3 win. Reese’s performance sparked a wave of reactions across the WNBA world, with fans hyping her impact and some already projecting her to take home Finals MVP.

WNBA World Raves As Angel Reese Powers Dream to Game 3 Finals Win

The Valkyries looked poised throughout much of their postseason run, but the Finals have presented a different challenge.

Reese came into Game 3 locked in, determined to keep attacking after vowing to get more aggressive offensively following Atlanta’s Game 1 loss. She delivered, finishing with a game-high 21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals while shooting 7-for-12 from the field. She also knocked down both of her 3-point attempts.

The WNBA’s X account hyped her all-around performance, posting:

“Angel Reese is a GAME CHANGER.”

“Oh, she CLEARS Caitlin Clark,” one Reese fan gushed.

“FINALS MVP LOADING……Angel Shutting The Haters Up,” another supporter added, already looking ahead.

The praise for the 24-year-old kept coming, with one fan writing, “She is balling.”

One post took the Clark comparison a step further, asking, “Angel Reese FMVP before Caitlin Clark makes a conference final???”

Reese’s latest outing followed a historic 30-point performance in Game 2. She has now recorded a double-double in each of her first three career Finals games.

According to ESPN Insights, she is the first player in WNBA history to pull that off. She also joins A’ja Wilson as one of only two players to record back-to-back games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in a single Finals.

Reese’s confidence was on full display from the jump in Game 3. After converting an and-one against Aminata Gueye, the former Chicago Sky forward turned and talked a little trash toward the Valkyries’ bench, bringing extra energy to an already lit home crowd.

That said, Atlanta’s Game 3 dominance extended well beyond its star. The Dream shot 49.3% from the field, compared with Golden State’s 34.8%, and outscored the Valkyries 44-20 in the paint.

That edge showed just how hard Atlanta has attacked a defense that had been a major strength throughout Golden State’s postseason run.

With the series now at 2-1, the Dream have a chance to move within one win of the championship in Game 4, which will again take place at State Farm Arena on Saturday. Reese and her teammates will look to make their home-court advantage count once more, while the Valkyries will try to avoid falling into a 3-1 deficit.

Alexis was voted out 3-1 at the first Tribal Council. At the second, Linnea and Lewis Kelly tied 4-4 twice, forcing Eric Macksoud, Danny “Kilby” Kilby, Sharonda Cox and Cristian Chavez to reach a unanimous decision or risk drawing rocks. Who got voted off Survivor tonight?

Alexis Levine was the first castaway voted off Wednesday night during Episode 5.

Alexis was voted out 3-1, with Devin Way, Angelica "Jelly" Loblack and Ori Jean-Charles voting for Alexis. Alexis cast the lone vote for Devin.

Who was the second person voted off Survivor tonight?

Linnea Capobianca was the second castaway voted off Wednesday night after the Dina Tribal Council deadlocked twice.

Linnea and Lewis initially tied 4-4, and the revote produced another 4-4 tie.

That left Eric, Kilby, Sharonda and Cristian needing to reach a unanimous decision. If they failed to agree, those four would have been forced to draw rocks.

Kilby refused to change course, leaving the others to either risk their own games in a rock draw or agree to eliminate Linnea. They ultimately agreed to send Linnea home.

Who won immunity on Survivor tonight?

The challenge came with “double jeopardy,” sending Dina and Savu to separate Tribal Councils, where two castaways are at risk of being voted out.

Were any idols or advantages played on Survivor tonight?

Kilby and Lewis both played the Extra Votes, helping create the initial tie between Lewis and Linnea.
