Billy Bush addressed rumors that he had an uncomfortable exchange with author Amy Griffin at Jennifer Meyer’s wedding.

Bush claims the writer of The Tell confronted him about his coverage of her legal battle in front of numerous guests.

Bush says that an A-list actress encouraged Griffin to talk to him at the wedding.

Billy Bush is sharing his side of a complicated, contentious story from a dazzling celebrity wedding.

The former Access Hollywood anchor addressed rumors that he got into a verbal row with author Amy Griffin at jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer’s star-studded wedding in Hawaii on Oct. 10.

“I’m gonna clear up the story of my encounter with Amy Griffin,” Bush said on a new episode of his show Hot Mics. “The moment I arrived in Lanai, I could feel her glare all over me. And she was telling anyone who would listen not to talk to me.”

Griffin rose to prominence with her 2025 memoir The Tell, which chronicled a personal tale of surviving harrowing sexual abuse that later had its authenticity challenged by the author’s former classmate, who filed an invasion of privacy lawsuit claiming the book is telling her story, not Griffin’s. The writer denied the allegations and sued the former classmate for defamation. Bush has investigated Griffin’s legal saga on Hot Mics, at one point opining that “it feels more than possible that this is memory appropriation” by the author.

Bush says he immediately noticed Griffin at the wedding because she wore “a bright red dress” to the event, and that an A-list actress allegedly encouraged the author to speak with him.

“I hear her and Demi Moore talking not far away. And Demi’s saying, ‘It’s okay, you can go talk to him,’” he says. “Like ‘Amy, it’s alright, stop!’ This whole scene is unfolding. And then finally, she comes at me. I can see that she’s coming.”

Bush claims Griffin tripped before making her way to him. “She stumbles, and her purse spills open entirely. Everything,” he says. “Mints are all over the place, and lipstick — everything is on the lawn. And Demi is helping her and they’re gathering up their things.”

Bush says Griffin was “shaking” when they finally spoke. “She says, ‘You don’t know me!’” he claims. “And I say, ‘No, I know you. You’re Amy Griffin.’ And she says, ‘No, you don’t know me!’”

The former TV host says he tried to defuse the situation. “I’m like, ‘Okay, I can see you’re upset,’” he recalls. “‘I don’t think this is the time nor the place to have this discussion. I’d love to talk to you on the record and-or off. Either way, at another time, but not now.’ But you know, I was calm and cool the whole time.”

Bush says the other guests complimented him and asked him about the confrontation. “Everyone kept coming up to me later,” he says, claiming people asked him, “Holy s---, what just went down? Oh my god, are you okay? You handled that beautifully.”

He also claims that as they were heading toward the main reception, Griffin approached Bush’s girlfriend Ali and asked how she could associate with him, allegedly saying, “How could you be with someone who’s abusing me?... He’s doing this for his entertainment.”

Bush added, “I mean, the nerve. This is another woman’s wedding. Imagine making it all about you, right? And the narcissism, assuming because of her great wealth and prominence that everyone should just swallow what she’s serving. I’m interested in the truth.”

Bush also said he spoke with the author’s husband, John, for an hour the following day. “I felt that he was nice, he was reasonable, even-tempered, and let’s just be real, husband of the century,” he said.
