As its first episode proved, *Paradise* isn't afraid to switch things up in season 2.

After a season of following Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) in the bunker as he found himself in the middle of the investigation into President Cal Bradford's (James Marsden) death, season 2 kicked things off with an episode that took us fully outside of the bunker — all the way to Graceland, actually — and centered around a brand new character: Shailene Woodley's Annie.

"We definitely have more of the post-apocalyptic drama in season 2 than we had in season 1, with the exception of our big episode that showed the world ending," series creator Dan Fogelman tells **.

As for episode 2, Fogelman says fans can expect another switch-up of sorts. "Our second episode is one of my favorites because it's all Sterling," he says. That means viewers will finally catch up with Xavier now that he's left the bunker and crashed his plane back in the outside world.

ALEXANDER GUMPERT, STERLING K. BROWN - PARADISE

"In the present day, he's kind of in this action-adventure-hero movie that's very post-apocalyptic and probably the darkest we go in that lane," Fogelman says, adding, "But then his backstory is his initial meet-cute with his wife many years earlier, and it's classic leading man romcom stuff. It's so charming and romantic. Sterling doing both of those things in one episode of television is really exciting to me."

When it comes to the romances of season 2 — something season 1 didn't have a ton of — Fogelman says, "It's something that I always like writing. The world falls apart, what are you chasing? And everyone's chasing a connection and love so we lean a little more heavily there in this season."

When does 'Paradise' season 2 come out? Everything to know about Sterling K. Brown's journey beyond the bunker

But that's not to say that it's all romance all the time ... especially not in the bunker.

"In terms of the bunker story, there's a lot more of a place coming apart at the seams and social uprising and all that comes with it," Folgeman says.

So yeah, definitely not as romantic.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department has filed a complaint to legally take ownership of a sanctioned tanker and nearly 2 million barrels of petroleum seized off the coast of Venezuela in December, another step by President Donald Trump's administration to assert power over the country's oil sector after capturing leader Nicolás Maduro.

It's the first complaint filed by the U.S. to start the legal process to formally take control of one of at least 10 oil tankers intercepted by American authorities since late last year. The U.S. has accused Venezuela of using a shadow fleet of falsely flagged vessels to smuggle illicit crude into global supply chains.

"Under President Trump's leadership, the era of secretly bankrolling regimes that pose clear threats to the United States is over," Attorney General Pam Bondi said in an emailed statement. "This Department of Justice will deploy every legal authority at our disposal to completely dismantle and permanently shutter any operation that defies our laws and fuels chaos across the globe."

The seizure of the vessel, named the Skipper, in December was the Republican administration's first in a series of similar actions and marked a dramatic escalation in Trump's campaign to pressure Maduro by cutting off access to oil revenue that has long been the lifeblood of Venezuela's economy.

Maduro, who called the tanker seizure an "act of international piracy," was arrested in a U.S. raid last month and was taken to New York to face drug trafficking charges. He has pleaded not guilty, protesting his capture and declaring himself "the president of my country." Following his ouster, several vessels fled the coast of Venezuela in spite of Trump's quarantine on sanctioned oil tankers, and U.S. forces have tracked and interdicted some of them as far away as the Indian Ocean.

The Trump administration has set out to control the production, refining and global distribution of Venezuela's oil and oversee where the revenue flows. The U.S. has begun lifting broad sanctions to allow foreign companies to operate in Venezuela in a bid to revitalize the ailing oil industry.

A judge in Washington's federal court must sign off on the U.S. government's bid to permanently take ownership of the Skipper and its cargo so the oil can potentially be sold.

The Justice Department alleges the tanker moved oil from Iran and Venezuela throughout the world, flying false flags to hide its illegal activities while providing revenue for Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, which the U.S. has deemed a foreign terrorist organization.

"Because of the coordinated efforts of our prosecutors and law enforcement partners, a ghost tanker that for years secretly moved illicit oil from Iran and Venezuela around the globe has been taken off the seas," Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva, who leads the Justice Department's Criminal Division, said in a statement.

"Today's actions are an important step in making America and the world safer by disrupting the flow of millions of dollars to foreign terrorist organizations," he said.

Widow of pilot who died in UPS plane crash files lawsuit

The wife of a pilot who died when a United Parcel Service airplane erupted into a deadly ball of fire and crashed in Louisville in November has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against three companies she claims contributed to leaving her widowed.

The crash on Nov. 4, 2025, killed 15 people, including all three crew members on board the cargo plane and 12 people on the ground ranging in ages from 3 to 62. It was the deadliest crash in UPS Airlines history.

Donna Diamond, the wife of 62-year-old UPS pilot Dana Diamond, filed the suit in Jefferson County Circuit Court on Feb. 25 against Boeing Co., General Electric Co. and VT San Antonio Aerospace, reported the Louisville Courier Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network. The lawsuit states the companies contributed to mechanical failures that led the UPS MD-11 plane to crash just seconds after takeoff.

Dana Diamond lived in Caldwell, Texas, with his wife and worked for UPS for 37 years. He was serving as the international relief officer aboard UPS Flight 2976, a scheduled cargo flight to Honolulu, when the plane went down.

"Tragically, Donna would never see her husband alive after that day," the complaint reads. "Even more tragic, Defendants could have prevented Dana's suffering and death with simple honesty and a little bit of care. But they didn't."

Seconds after takeoff, the left engine and its pylon separated from the wing, causing the plane to catch fire prior to crashing, authorities have said. A preliminary report released by federal investigators in late November found that hardware meant to hold an engine in place showed signs of fatigue and "overstress failure." The plane crashed into an industrial area.

According to the complaint, the aircraft had undergone maintenance by VT San Antonio Aerospace just weeks before the crash and GE was behind designing and manufacturing the plane's engines. Boeing is the successor of the company McDonnell Douglas, which designed and manufactured the UPS MD-11F aircraft.

Donna Diamond is suing all three defendants on the basis of wrongful death, negligence, loss of consortium and related damages. She is also suing GE and Boeing over strict product liability, a legal doctrine that holds manufacturers responsible for injuries caused by defective products. According to court records, Donna Diamond also requests a trial by jury and for punitive damages to be awarded. Court summons were issued to the three defendants on Feb. 25.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this accident," Boeing said in a statement on Feb. 26.

A statement from GE Aerospace the company was "deeply saddened" by the loss of UPS Flight 2976 and extends "heartfelt sympathies" to the families and loved ones impacted.

"Safety is our first priority, and we are supporting the NTSB's investigation," the statement from GE Aerospace said.

Messages left with VT San Antonio Aerospace were not immediately returned.

While the Feb. 25 complaint is the first lawsuit filed on behalf of the flight crew member's surviving family, the complaint is not the first to be filed against Boeing or GE in relation to the crash.

In December 2025, families of two of the on-the-ground victims who died while at Grade A Auto Parts and Recycling filed wrongful death lawsuits. Another lawsuit — also against General Electric, VT San Antonio Aerospace and Boeing, as well as UPS — was filed Jan. 23.

Ethel Kennedy (née Skakel) played a big role in shaping the Kennedy family legacy.

The late human rights activist, who died in October 2024, was the widow of U.S. Sen. Robert F. "Bobby" Kennedy and the sister-in-law of former President John F. Kennedy. Ethel and Robert wed in 1950, became parents in 1951 and remained married until his 1968 assassination.

Following his death, the mother of 11 vowed never to remarry, telling PEOPLE in 1991 that it would be "adultery."

"How could I possibly do that with Bobby looking down from heaven?" she said.

Now, the Kennedy family has a new spotlight on them with Ryan Murphy's FX series, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which chronicles the romance between JFK's only son and the Calvin Klein publicist. The series also features Ethel in episode 5, "Battery Park," as the couple takes a trip to the family's compound in Hyannis Port, Mass., and must face her slew of rules, from couples sitting apart at the dinner table to sign-ups for breakfast.

Here's everything to know about Ethel Kennedy.

She was from Chicago

Ethel was born in Chicago on April 11, 1928, to her dad George Skakel, a coal magnate, and Ann Brannack. They died in 1955, when their private plane crashed in Oklahoma.

Ethel was the second youngest child among her three sisters and three brothers. According to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, the family moved to Greenwich, Conn., in 1936 when Ethel was 5 years old.

Ethel went on to attend Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York City, where she met and eventually became roommates with RFK's sister, Jean Kennedy.

Ethel met Robert after being introduced by Jean on a ski trip in Québec, Canada. Robert was in a relationship with Ethel's older sister Patricia for some time, but began dating Ethel after their split.

Ethel and Robert got engaged in February 1950, tying the knot four months later on June 17, 1950.

When the then-New York senator announced that he would seek the Democratic Party nomination for the 1968 presidential election, Ethel supported his campaign. RFK biographer Evan Thomas wrote in Robert Kennedy: His Life that Ethel was "always his most fervent believer, was the most consistent advocate of a race for the White House."

They remained together until Robert was assassinated on June 6, 1968. Not only did Ethel witness the murder, but she was also pregnant with their youngest child, Rory, at the time.

She had 11 children and over 30 grandchildren

Ethel became a mom in July 1951, when she and Robert welcomed their first child, daughter Kathleen. Between then and 1958, Ethel went on to welcome 10 more children: Joseph, Robert Jr., David, Courtney, Michael, Kerry, Christopher, Max, Douglas and Rory, who was born after her father's death.

Ethel outlived two of her children: David died of a drug overdose in April 1984, while Michael died after a skiing accident in December 1997. Several of the other Kennedy children went on to work their own political and legal careers, while Rory, a filmmaker, released a 2012 documentary titled Ethel, which included interviews with the Kennedys and gave an insider look at their political dynasty.

Many of Ethel's children also started families of their own, making Ethel a grandmother to over 30 grandchildren.

She was "tough" but tried to "protect" Bessette

As portrayed in episode 5 of Love Story, the Kennedy cousins did gather at the family compound in Massachusetts and were subjected to Ethel's current events quizzes. According to J. Randy Taraborrelli's book The Kennedy Heirs, Ethel met Bessette in September 1994, and just like portrayed in the show, JFK Jr. asked his girlfriend to call her "Mrs. Kennedy" before being introduced.During the dinner, Ethel asked Bessette her opinion on the federal assault weapons ban. When she was unsure on her response, Ethel told Bessette she might want to "read up" on it, per Taraborrelli's book. Then, following JFK Jr. and Bessette's publicized fight in a N.Y.C. park, Taraborrelli wrote that Ethel summoned Carolyn to her home in Virginia, where they had a frank talk. She was allegedly surprised when Bessette admitted to feeling insecure in her relationship and proceeded to give her some candid advice about fitting in with the Kennedys."I went through that with Bobby at first. Then I finally got it that the only way to survive in this family is to look in the mirror and say 'You know what? I'm enough,' " Ethel told Bessette, per Taraborrelli's book. "Eventually it will sink in and no one can ever take that way from you. Not even the Kennedys."Ethel also allegedly told Bessette that she was "more powerful" than any of the other women JFK Jr. dated and advised her to not change who she was on the inside. Taraborrelli added that while Ethel was "tough," she also tried to "protect" Bessette.

She was a human rights activist

While Ethel supported her husband's campaigns, she also built a career of her own as a human rights advocate and devoted her later years to public service, including the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Project.

Following her husband's death, she founded the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights to continue his work.

On Nov. 24, 2014, then-President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom for a lifetime of contributions to social justice, human rights, environmental protection and poverty reduction.

She died in October 2024

Ethel died at 96 years old on Oct. 10, 2024, from "complications related to a stroke" she suffered one week earlier, as her daughter Kerry shared in a statement on X.

"She was a devout Catholic and a daily communicant, and we are comforted in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, our father, Robert F. Kennedy; her children David and Michael; her daughter-in-law Mary; her grandchildren Maeve and Saoirse; and her great-grandchildren Gideon and Josie," the statement read.

A little over a month after her death, Ethel was laid to rest next to Robert at Arlington National Cemetery.

Kerry shared photos from the funeral service on Instagram, writing, "Her extraordinary life and enduring legacy will continue to guide and inspire us."

On Friday, Feb. 27, the British supermodel, 52, returned to the runway to walk for Gucci in a daring ensemble. Kate performed her signature strut in a glittering black mock-neck gown with long sleeves.

She also carried a silver clutch and wore silver drop earrings. Her hair was styled into tousled waves, and she sported a smoky-eyed makeup look.

The dress may have looked conservative from the front but painted an entirely different picture from the back, which dipped down past her butt and revealed a black thong with a sparkling Gucci logo, as seen in a front row video from Vogue.

The model previously shared a sweet mother-daughter moment at London Fashion Week.

On Monday, Feb. 23, the model and her 23-year-old model daughter, Lila Moss, were spotted sitting side by side as Burberry unveiled its Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear Collection at Old Billingsgate.

The pair sat among other celebrities, including Olivia Dean, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Stellan Skarsgård as the trench coat-heavy fall collection from Burberry's chief creative officer, Daniel Lee, was unveiled at the London venue.

In one snap from the outing, Kate wrapped her arm around her lookalike daughter's arm as they smiled and chatted together.

The duo opted for coordinating looks at the show.

Kate wore all black, layering a trench coat over a silky slip minidress. She accessorized with matching pumps and a stack of two chunky silver necklaces and statement dangling earrings.

Her model daughter, meanwhile, also wore a trench-adjacent coat — though hers, a neutral shade, was buttoned all the way up. Lila's coat featured dark buttons and a black ribbon detail, which she complemented with a pair of snakeskin pumps.

Lila, whom Kate shares with ex-boyfriend Jefferson Hack, documented her Fashion Week activities on Instagram, including reposting a photo of herself at the Burberry show with an emoji of the United Kingdom flag.

Alongside a rainy photo of the city, she wrote, "London was pretty last night." She then followed it up with a sunnier post, captioned, "London even prettier today!!!! Hi blue skies."

Luke Grimes confesses he didn't know what a procedural show was until signing on for Marshals

The Yellowstone spinoff sees Grimes' Kayce Dutton join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals a year after the original series' finale

Marshals premieres on Sunday, March 1, on CBS

When Luke Grimes got the call to be a part of Marshals, he didn't know what a procedural was.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grimes, 42, opened up about getting back in the saddle for the Yellowstone spinoff series as cowboy Kayce Dutton and admitted he didn't know what a show with a procedural format entailed.

"My mom loves procedurals," he said. "I wasn't too familiar with the format. I was like, 'His story ended so perfectly. I don't know if we should go back into it.' I was very reluctant at first. I'd never heard of anything like this before."

After Marshals showrunner Spencer Hudnut shared his vision of the "non-traditional procedural" with Grimes, the actor was on board.

"I realized we're not just trying to juice a stone and get a paycheck, there really is a story to tell," Grimes explained. "This guy used to be a SEAL, and we never explored that."

— sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

The CBS spinoff sees Kayce a year after the end of Yellowstone as he joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, blending his Montana lifestyle with his former experience as a Navy SEAL.

Per the official synopsis, "Kayce and his teammates must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate and his confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) from the Broken Rock reservation."

"Part of what we wanna do with this show is really explore the cost and consequences of being someone who runs into the fire," Hudnut said. "How do you do the most intense job in the world and then come home?"

In the original series, the tortured cowboy met his happy ending when he chose to walk away from his family's ranch and build a new life with his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), and their son, Tate (Brecken Merrill).

For Marshals, Hudnut knew "that something had to shake him out of that."

Grimes previously told PEOPLE that Marshals will "find a whole new world" for the youngest of the Dutton clan.

"We definitely wanted to make sure to give it a real story and make it interesting and make it believable," the Happiness for Beginners star explained. "If it was just like, 'Well, he's happy' — we're just going to watch him be happy? That's not very cool."

"But I'll say this, the idea that was pitched to me is very, very good and very interesting, and it really roped me in, and I think it will rope the audience in as well," he said.

Marshals premieres Sunday, March 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
