Kyle Fraser was attempting to snag his second Survivor win when he was forced to leave the historic 50th season.
The lawyer — who resides in Brooklyn, N.Y. — had to be medically evacuated from Survivor 50 on the season premiere after he injured his ankle during the first immunity challenge. Dr. Joe Rowles later determined that he most likely ruptured his Achilles tendon, so he would need to leave Fiji to seek treatment.
Fraser got emotional when host Jeff Probst told him the news, later describing the departure as "heartbreaking." He also pointed out that the injury was particularly devastating because he was on the heels of winning Survivor season 48.
So, where is Kyle Fraser now? Here's everything to know about his life after seasons 48 and 50 of Survivor.

Fraser was raised in Roanoke, Va., and stayed in the state to attend Hampden-Sydney College until his 2016 graduation, according to his LinkedIn. He later received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
However, before he became a lawyer, he worked as a teacher for two years, and he credited those learning lessons as helping him win Survivor.
"I taught a GED and history/humanities course at a juvenile detention center," he told Entertainment Weekly in January 2025. "Understandably, learning was not front-of-mind for my students who were in such a traumatic environment. But I found ways to connect and I'm proud of that."
After getting his law degree, he worked at various law firms before transitioning to a judicial law clerk. Since October 2025, he has worked as associate counsel at Warner Music Group in New York.
How did Fraser win season 48 of Survivor?

Fraser competed alongside 17 other castaways in the 48th season, which was filmed from June to July in 2024. Before heading to the the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, Fraser both extensively physically and mentally prepared.
"I first bulked up because I was like, 'Oh, I need to be strong.' But then I like, sort of realized, 'I don't need to be that strong,' " he told Parade in February 2025. "So then I started what I thought about the best scenario being, putting on a bunch of weight so I can get as strong as possible."
He continued, adding that he also "tried to incorporate Survivor" into his typical life as an attorney.
"I have not had a disagreement with a coworker, but maybe we see something differently," he said. "I think about, 'How would I approach this in the game?' And try to implement that, work on controlling emotions, or thinking through what emotion you're feeling in certain circumstances. Little things like that over time where I feel like I'm ready to play this game."

Fraser ultimately partnered with Kamilla Karthigesu, forming a secret alliance that would help him win the game. He ultimately ended up winning Survivor season 48 in a 5–2–1 vote against Eva Erickson and Joe Hunter. (Karthigesu and Hunter would go on to join him in Survivor 50.)
Why was Fraser medically evacuated on Survivor 50?

During the Survivor 50 premiere, which aired on Feb. 25, Fraser was competing in his first immunity challenge on behalf of his Vatu tribe when he injured his ankle. Although he initially could walk on it, Dr. Joe and Probst came to the Vatu camp the next day, where the Survivor doctor put Fraser through a series of extra tests.
Ultimately, Dr. Joe determined that Fraser had likely ruptured his Achilles tendon and should leave the game. Before Fraser was driven away on a boat, he emotionally told his Vatu tribemates that one of them should win.
Fraser ultimately had to get surgery to treat his ankle, but is recovering.
"I'm running [as of] three weeks ago, so we're still recovering. So, we're on the up and up," he said in a CBS Mornings interview on Feb. 26, going on to reference his seasons' near back-to-back filming schedules. "It's tough, because two weeks earlier, I won. The whole world got to see me win a million dollars and then to tear your Achilles two weeks later — and know that I get pulled from the game only four days in, it was heartbreaking."
Fraser added that he "loved playing with my tribe" but still "cried like I haven't cried before" after he had to leave.
"If you look back on that first episode, it was just so many cool things that happened in the game," he said. "And I was excited to experience that myself. I've had tons of other experiences after, but it was a tough one to swallow."

Although Fraser expressed disappointment in having to come home so soon, he also looked on the bright side — which is that he and his wife, Maggie, are expecting their first child in May 2026.
Fraser spoke to PEOPLE about the exciting news in January 2026, revealing how they're preparing to become parents.
"We both can't wait to see the other as a parent and have loved every moment — from seeing the baby on the ultrasound to starting to feel kicks," he said. "Our neighborhood in Brooklyn is very kid-friendly, so every time we step outside, we get to envision what our lives could look like. It's the perfect type of uncertainty, and we're ready for it."
In February, the couple revealed that they were expecting a baby girl, but haven't shared any name ideas.
"We were having a lot of fun bouncing ideas off each other for a while, especially after we found out the sex, but we think we have the winner locked down," he said. "Our plan is to keep it to ourselves until the baby is born and then make sure the name fits when we meet them."
