The first-time Academy Award nominees recall their favorite scenes in the Ryan Coogler-directed horror hit
"I always say," says Lindo, "I was the conduit, but we were all working together"
Oscar nominees Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku enjoyed filming Sinners so much, it's not easy picking a favorite moment on set.
But when Jack O'Connell and his fellow vampires danced an Irish jig together in the dark, it was a scene that "everybody stuck around after they were wrapped to watch," Mosaku, 39, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue.
"There's a lot of that dance sequence that didn't make it to the screen," reveals Jordan, 39.

Ryan Coogler's Sinners stars Jordan as twins Smoke and Stack, the latter of whom becomes a vampire thanks to O'Connell's Remmick, inheriting much of his consciousness — and Irish culture. "Stack had an opportunity to just be a part of Remmick's world and to be burdened and blessed with all of his memories and all of his experiences," says Jordan.
"Stack got an opportunity to run that up against his mortal life experiences as a Black man," he continues, as Remmick leads the Irish dancing. "He's playing my jam that I didn't even know was my jam. And I got to bust a move!"
Mosaku quips "everyone" on set watched the sequence — "except for me," as the late shoot made it difficult. The British-Nigerian actress "had a baby at home," she explains, after welcoming her daughter in 2024. "I was like, 'I'm tired. It's 4:00 AM.'"

"We were literally fighting the sun coming up," recalls Jordan of dancing with costars O'Connell, Hailee Steinfeld, Lola Kirke, Peter Dreimanis and more.
"It was just one of those things where everything has to go right for you to make your day and to make your shot," he adds. "And everything happened the way it was supposed to for us to nail it. And when those moments happen, it just feels like magic, like caught lightning in a bottle."

"I always say," chimes in Lindo, "I was the conduit, but we were all working together." The 73-year-old British-American actor has a favorite scene of his own: when his character, musician Delta Slim, has a moment in the car with Jordan's Smoke and Miles Caton's Preacherboy — a stretched-out silence that was apparently improvised.
"We got to a place where we were supposed to stop," he recalls, and instead, Jordan "kept the car going, and that allowed the scene to breathe for an extra few beats." For Lindo, it was an example of being "in the scene as an ensemble of actors."
Jordan, Mosaku and Lindo each became first-time Oscar honorees when the nominations were announced on Jan. 22. They are three of Sinners' record-breaking 16 nods, which includes Best Picture.
