Chelsea Handler wants men to take more responsibility for birth control

In a Feb. 27 Instagram video, the comedian said women are exhausted from "ducking and diving and dodging pregnancy"

She said men should get vasectomies, describing it as, "One snip, and that's it!"

Chelsea Handler said birth control shouldn't always be the woman's job, urging men to get vasectomies, describing the procedure as "One snip, and that's it!"

"As a woman with natural breasts, not that that has anything to do with this, it is time to explore vasectomies," the comedian, 51, began a Feb. 27 Instagram video, filmed while she cups her topless breasts in bed.

"Since the beginning of time, women have been ducking and diving and dodging pregnancy face first or Pikachu first," Chandler said, using her go-to euphemism for a woman's genitals. "Frankly, they're exhausted. We've had to listen to men say things like, 'Using a condom doesn't feel so good,' or 'Can't you just take birth control?' "

"Enough, you horny little pigs in blankets," Handler said. "Do you know how painful it is to get an IUD placed? It feels like a mouse trap in your uterus, and sometimes those things don't even catch all the mice," she said, a reference to the notoriously painful procedure — often administered without any anesthesia or pain relief — to have the birth control device implanted in the uterus.

As for hormonal birth control pills, Handler sounded off on the side effects: "You think I want to be an adult woman with acne or have mood swings, or get a period that's so heavy it feels like the Hoover Dam just broke? I don't."

Vasectomies, the Mayo Clinic explains, are a "low-risk," outpatient procedure which prevents sperm from being released. "The cost of a vasectomy is far less than the cost of lasting birth control for women called tubal ligation," according to the medical center. "Vasectomy also is less expensive than the long-term cost of birth control medicines."

Chelsea had more to say.

"Everybody already hates women enough. I don't need my insides to join in on the fun," she said. "Women are tired of making concessions for men, especially in the bedroom. We have already been through enough letting you wear socks while you penetrate us. So man up, men, and if you can't do that, enjoy the company of your hands. Vasectomies, one snip and that's it."

In response, singer Jewel shared her approval via a series of clapping and fire emojis, while Pretty Little Liars alum Ashley Benson chimed in, writing, "This is everything."
