Actress and lifestyle entrepreneur Melissa Gilbert is trying to keep things positive amid accusations of child sex abuse against her husband, Timothy Busfield, but a recent social media post struck some viewers as a bit off-key.
The Little House on the Prairie alum's Modern Prairie brand shared a video Monday of Gilbert singing and dancing along to the hit 1994 song "You Gotta Be," by Des'Ree.
"It's Monday…and we're starting this week the Modern Prairie way, together," the caption of the Instagram post read. "Melissa's been singing the chorus of a Des'ree song. 'You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser.'"
As Gilbert sings softly in the video, she holds up her arms in a sign of strength and bobs along to the music.
"So here's our invitation," the post continues. "Sing it with us. Out loud. In the car. In the kitchen. Wherever you are on your journey right now. Because life isn't a straight path. It twists. It surprises. It humbles. It strengthens. And somewhere along the way, we become a little braver… a little steadier… a little wiser. This week, let the song be your reminder: You've handled hard things before. You're still growing. And you don't have to walk this road alone."

The message comes at a time when Gilbert, 61, is dealing with the fallout of allegations against her spouse. Last month Busfield, 68, surrendered to authorities in New Mexico on allegations that he engaged in inappropriate conduct with two child actors while they worked on the series The Cleaning Lady, which aired on Fox between 2022 and 2025. He has denied the charges and vowed to clear his name.
On Feb. 6, a grand jury indicted Busfield on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor under the age of 13. He pleaded not guilty Feb. 11.

Modern Prairie's Instagram post Monday drew many supportive comments for Gilbert — but also some less positive reactions.
"Stop embarrassing yourself," one commenter wrote. Another said simply, "Strange."
Gilbert, who married Busfield in 2013, deleted her personal social media accounts when the charges went public. She made a statement on the allegations Jan. 26.
"I'm sending you all my love and gratitude during this extraordinarily difficult time," she wrote. "Not only for Tim, me and our family, but in the collective heaviness so many of us seem to be carrying right now. Add an unexpected storm to the mix, and it can all feel like a bit too much."

She said the "season" had reminded her "how important it is to slow down, prioritize what truly matters, and allow ourselves moments of rest. Stepping back from the noise, the news, and even our daily responsibilities from time to time gives us space to recharge, reflect, and find our center again."
Gilbert also showed gratitude to her fans.
"I'll be easing back into things thoughtfully and with care — moving forward one step at a time," she wrote. "More to come, and so much gratitude always."
