Amanda Seyfried appreciates being prepared, especially when it comes to the more vulnerable elements of filming, such as working on a nude scene. Thus, it's not surprising that the actress went the extra mile when it came to the filming of her new movie, The Testament of Ann Lee.
In anticipation of filming nude scenes for the acclaimed drama directed by Mona Fastvold, who co-wrote it with her husband Brady Corbet, Seyfried wore what she dubbed a "prosthetic butthole," she revealed in a clip from her Wednesday interview on the BBC's The Scott Mills Breakfast Show in the U.K.
"This movie, it needed to be graphic, so, like, I had a prosthetic butthole," she told an understandably gobbsmacked Scott Mills in the video. When the interviewer asked her what the experience was like for her, Seyfried had nothing but positive reviews. "It was cool. It was exciting," she added.

Some might not expect any nude scenes in the historical drama that features Seyfried portraying Lee, an 18th-century English woman who found solace in religion after losing four children at a young age and came to believe that holiness was attainable only by forgoing "fleshly cohabitation." During one of her stays in jail, Lee was beset by visions that led her to believe herself to be God's representative on Earth — an epiphany that did not improve her tenuous standing with the Church of England.
Lee went on to found a Christian sect known as the Shakers, with the movie depicting the movement's eventual move to New York in Colonial-era United States history.

The scene that has Seyfried's prosthetic lurking, hidden in the shadows, did not actually show said body part.
"I was pregnant and naked, but I wasn't naked at all, and at the end of the movie, I'm standing in front of a burning building with just a merkin. I felt so free," Seyfried explained of her nude scene in the movie's final moments. "You cannot see my butthole in [the scene], but I swear there is a prosthetic butthole there."

Mills inquired to why the film's production utilized the prosthetic if audiences never see it, to which Seyfried replied, "Just in case," jokingly adding, "Gotta get people to the theater."
