U.S. Soccer has announced that the U.S. women's national team will face Japan in three consecutive matches during the April FIFA window.
The matches will take place on Saturday, April 11, at PayPal Park (San Jose, California); on Tuesday, April 14, at Lumen Field (Seattle, Washington); and on Friday, April 17, at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (Commerce City, Colorado.).
"Japan is one of the best teams in the world," said USWNT coach Emma Hayes. "I'm a big admirer of how they play and I have tremendous respect for their team and identity. They are a highly experienced group and are fully committed to their style of football.
"Playing the same opponents three times is unusual but it presents a great challenge and a chance to test ourselves against a top-quality opponent."
The eighth-ranked team in the world is no stranger to the USWNT, having faced them in the 2011 and 2015 Women's World Cup finals. Most recently, the Nadeshiko squeezed out a surprising 2-1 victory in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, ending the USWNT's five-year winning streak in the tournament.
Forty years since the first-ever matchup between these two nations, the USWNT holds a 32W-2L-8D all-time record against Japan.
Prior to the two friendlies against Japan, the USWNT has five matches scheduled to kick off 2026.
Hayes' side will face Paraguay and Chile in January friendlies before taking on Canada, Argentina, and Colombia at the SheBelieves Cup in March.
