J.J. McCarthy removed himself from the Minnesota Vikings' Week 18 game against the Green Bay Packers after suffering a hand injury.
McCarthy's injury occurred after he attempted a dump-off pass to veteran wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The second-year quarterback wasn't contacted on the play but immediately motioned to the sideline that he needed to be removed from the game.
McCarthy was able to walk to the sideline under his own power and began to receive medical attention on the sideline.

The Vikings announced McCarthy was "questionable" to return to Sunday's game because of a right hand injury. McCarthy had missed the Vikings' Christmas Day win over the Detroit Lions because of a hand injury he suffered in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers.
McCarthy completed 14 of 23 passes for 182 yards before leaving the game. He was replaced by backup quarterback Max Brosmer.
