Last month, Duchess Meghan announced that she was tapping into her roots, working with Prince Harry and Archewell Productions to executive-produce a documentary on Girl Scout cookies. In the film, Cookie Queens, director Alysa Nahmias followed four young Girl Scouts and their families during the height of cookie season, highlighting the highs and lows of the nostalgic-yet-modern tradition—one the royal knows a thing or two about herself.
"As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary," the duchess shared at the time of the announcement. "When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in."

Now, Cookie Queens has officially made its world premiere, showing at Sundance Film Festival during the Family Matinee program. And, for the special screening, Meghan and Harry stopped by for a surprise appearance—celebrating the film alongside Nahmias, festival director Eugene Hernandez, and Amy Redford, daughter of Sundance founder Robert Redford.

Posing for photos, the two royals seemed to have kept things casual and classic. For the duchess, this meant an all-black look, pairing a high-neck sweater with matching boot-cut jeans. Later, she layered up for the chilly Utah weather with a sleek deep-brown wool-cashmere coat, designed with a robe silhouette and tied at the waist. Next to her, Harry went for an outdoorsy look, wearing a puffer and army-green jeans.

According to Sundance programmer Stephanie Owens, the "sparkling film follows the girls through a cookie-selling season, highlighting the girls' charm and unsuspecting sharp business instincts."
"It isn't just fun and games though," she continued, discussing Cookie Queens. "The girls and their families make real financial and time sacrifices to hit their goals, trading laid-back weekends for hours outside, wagons full of cookies in tow. Nahmias stays focused on the girls and their individual journeys, offering a sincere, playful window into a multimillion-dollar industry powered by their cookie booths. It's a joyous, heartwarming, utterly sweet ride that cheers on the girls' grit and ingenuity."
