BARBRA Streisand has broken her silence after facing backlash for asking Melissa McCarthy if she had taken Ozempic over Instagram.
On Tuesday, The Way We Were singer cleared the air with a statement directed at Melissa, 53, on X.
Barbra, 82, wrote, "I went on Instagram to see the photos we'd posted of the beautiful flowers I'd received for my birthday!"
She explained, "Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my encore album.
"She looked fantastic!"
Barbra continued, "I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!"
Melissa has made it clear there are no hard feelings as she told a photographer, "I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her," after being questioned about the Instagram comment, as reported by TMZ.
On Monday, Barbra shocked fans after she left a supposedly insensitive comment on Melissa McCarthy's social media post.
The Funny Girl star asked Melissa about her weight loss methods after the comedian flaunted her slimmer figure on social media.
Barbra commented under Melissa's most recent Instagram photo that showed the Bridesmaids actress in attendance at a gala held by the Center Theatre Group.
The gala honored the renowned director/choreographer Matthew Bourne, 64.
Melissa uploaded two photos from the event.
The first photo showed Melissa and Hairspray director Adam Shankman, 59, arriving at the Los Angeles event.
The Identity Thief star donned a form-fitting light green dress with a ruffled skirt.
She carried a rainbow handbag and dressed in a matching blazer.
In the second, the Mike & Molly alum posed streetside with Adam, who wore a pink suit, in front of a white mansion.
Melissa has reportedly lost around 75 pounds.
THE COMMENT
Fans quickly flooded the comments with admiration for the star's looks, but Barbra probed further and asked Melissa a question about how she lost the weight.
"Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" Barbra asked in a now-deleted comment.
Fans replied under Barbra's comment and slammed her for supposedly being discourteous to Melissa.
Many branded the Guity singer as rude, and one asked how she had "the audacity."
"That's a rude question," wrote another follower
"Wtf Barbra ? None your biz," added a third.
A fourth person accused, "Rude, Barbra."
A bewildered fan asked, "Did she really just post that comment?"
WEIGHT LOSS SECRETS
Since March, the Ghostbusters star displayed her weight loss transformation in Instagram videos and photos.
In a revealing 2015 interview with CBS This Morning, Melissa opened up about how she shed the pounds.

"I finally said to myself, 'Oh for God's sake, stop worrying about it, and it may be the best thing I've ever done,'" Melissa revealed.
