A HOMEOWNER has sounded off on public authorities after a storm left him unable to access his driveway.

The driver returned from a family holiday to find a heap of snow encompassing the foot of his driveway.

Andy Chawathe, a Scarborough, Ontario, resident, found nearly three feet of snow at the end of his driveway in 2017, according to CTV News.

At the end of December 2017, the Toronto neighborhood had several days worth of snow storms, according to the Canadian Government.

Between December 20 and 25 that year, the city saw 5.4 inches of snow.

Chawathe measured 86 centimeters worth of snow, or 2.8 feet.

His home was at the corner of two streets, making it a convenient spot for plow trucks to dump the flurries.

He realized the discovery days after traveling for Christmas.

"Because it's the corner house, it's convenient for them to just dump the snow here," Chawathe told the news station at the time.

"I can't get in, so [my car] has been parked on the street for the past couple of days."

Parking on snow lanes leaves drivers susceptible to $200 fines, according to Toronto's road laws.

Chawathe moved into the home in 2013, according to the station.

Piles of snow had lined up outside his driveway each year.

The driver was nervous about the snow's impact during a potential emergency.

"I also see it as a safety issue," he told the station.

"Do you think an ambulance or any other emergency service would be able to access the property?"

Drivers who have an insurmountable amount of snow at the foot of their driveway must request another public plow through 311, according to the city's website.

Chawathe said he called the city's non-emergency line to address the issue, but didn't hear back in time.

Neighbors in the area have also grown restless in the years after Chawathe's issues.

Several cities close to Toronto reported a massive increase in physical clashes between residents and snow plow operators, according to National Post.

In early 2023, residents were rocked by several massive snowstorms, dumping several inches of precipitation on the suburbs.

"Snow-clearing crews and operators have been experiencing escalating harassment and violence — including verbal and physical abuse, threats and unacceptable behaviour from several residents upset about snow-clearing operations," Mississauga's spokesperson, Helen Noehammer, said to the publication.

"Fortunately, no one was hurt during these incidents."
