A HOMEOWNER has slammed her HOA after she was slapped with a speeding ticket – despite not being behind the wheel.
Carolyn Little, 71 was left scratching her head when her homeowner's association at Sun City Shadow Hills in Indio, California allegedly demanded she pay the $50 fine.
The culprit who had actually clocked seven miles over the 35 mph speed limit was a Home Depot carpet installer, CV Independent reported.
But it was pensioner Carolyn who was was allegedly told to pick up the tab.
When pulled aside, the Home Depot driver reportedly said they were heading to Carolyn's address.
"They want their money, and they don't care if it's at the resident's expense," she claimed.
"We like it here. It's just that these rules are crazy."
The rule Carolyn is referring to is enforced by the HOA in the "Conduct Code" section of the association's rules and regulations.
It states that homeowners are responsible for the actions of friends, visitors and even delivery drivers.
The U.S Sun has reached out to Sun City Shadow Hills for comment.
SPITTING FEATHERS
It comes after a driver's custom ride attracted the ire of his HOA.
An HOA allegedly smacked a driver with daily $100 parking fines in his driveway because his car was shaped like a chicken.
<!-- End of Brightcove Player --> Patrick Taylor drove a remodeled 1993 Ford Mustang with a fiberglass chicken head and saddle feathers attached in 2018, according to Illinois-based ABC affiliate WLS.
Taylor became a fan of the car when he was younger. He said he watched the car strut down his hometown's street during parades.
Taylor – who struggled with his mental health in high school – reportedly drove the car cross-country to raise funds and awareness for mental health causes.
"I feel like it's an attack on individuality," he told the television studio.
The HOA also allegedly told the television studio the car was a "distraction" and called it "not road worthy."
Letters from the association asked Taylor to remove the car from public view.
Taylor organized a Change Petition aimed at keeping his car in his driveway.
More than 2,000 people signed the petition in Taylor's support.
It is unknown what resolution the two parties reached.
