Denmark's former Queen Margrethe II was taken to Copenhagen's Rigshospitalet on Sunday after developing a fresh blood clot near her hip, alongside symptoms of mild dehydration, marking her third emergency hospital admission in 2026.

The 86-year-old, who handed the throne to her son King Frederik X two years ago, is expected to stay in hospital for several days while doctors monitor her condition and administer treatment.

According to a statement from the Danish Royal House, Margrethe is in "good spirits and, given the circumstances, is doing well."

However, the sudden health setback means she will not be present at Wednesday's funeral of King Harald V of Norway, an engagement she had been due to attend.

This latest episode follows a troubling pattern of medical emergencies for the former monarch throughout the year.

In May, she was hospitalised after physicians identified a substantial build-up of blood in the hip area, which had resulted from a fall.

That admission came barely a fortnight after Margrethe had undergone an angioplasty, a procedure used to widen blocked or constricted blood vessels, after experiencing chest pains.

Margrethe has contended with a series of health complications in recent years, raising concerns about the wellbeing of one of Denmark's most beloved public figures.

The recurring nature of her hip-related issues in particular appears to underscore the ongoing fragility of her condition, despite the resilience she has shown in maintaining her public engagements.

Margrethe relinquished the crown in January 2024, a decision she attributed to a major back operation that prompted reflection on whether the moment had come to entrust responsibility to the next generation.

"I have decided that now is the right time. On January 14, 2024, 52 years after I succeeded my beloved father, I will step down as Queen of Denmark," she declared in her abdication address.

Despite stepping back from official duties, she has remained a visible presence in Danish public life.

At her 86th birthday celebrations in Fredensborg earlier this year, she reprimanded Queen Mary for bending down to pet her dachshund Tilia during the formal occasion.

"I don't think this is the right time for that," Margrethe reportedly told the Australian-born queen, prompting Mary to immediately straighten up.

That exchange drew comparisons with the late Queen Elizabeth II, Margrethe's third cousin and fellow descendant of Queen Victoria, who famously ordered Prince William to stand up on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour in 2016.

The two queens shared a warm bond, forged over decades of state visits, the most recent being Margrethe's reception at Windsor in 2000.

Born in 1940, Margrethe became heir presumptive only in 1953, after a constitutional referendum backed by more than 85 per cent of voters opened the Danish succession to women.

She took the throne in 1972 following her father's death.

She married Frenchman Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, later known as Prince Henrik, in 1967, and the couple had two sons, Frederik and Joachim.

Widely admired for her linguistic talents, artistic flair and approachable manner, Margrethe is credited with having gently modernised the Danish monarchy over her 52-year reign.

Kelly Osbourne has opened up about how she discovered her body had changed following her father Ozzy Osbourne's passing. Speaking with The Mail on Sunday, the 41-year-old revealed she had "no idea" how dramatically thin she had become in 2025 until she viewed a photograph of herself from a 2026 Grammy Awards fitting. The Black Sabbath legend died at age 76 on July 22.

Following Ozzy's passing, Kelly has faced increased criticism on social media about her physical appearance. Looking back on that period, Kelly has openly acknowledged she "wasn't well."

The former reality television personality has also expressed gratitude for the "incredible" support system surrounding her, describing them not merely as friends but as the "real ones" who remained by her side. This follows Kelly Osbourne calling off engagement just months after proposal at Ozzy's final gig.

"I looked like the f------ Crypt Keeper," Kelly shared with The Mail on Sunday, referencing a ghastly figure from the Tales from the Crypt horror series. "I said, 'This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this,'" she added.

"My spine - you could see every single bone. I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain. I just saw a broken person."

According to Ozzy's death certificate, the rock icon died from "out of hospital cardiac arrest" and "acute myocardial infarction," with coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction noted as "joint causes," confirmed by PEOPLE. For the Grammy Awards, Kelly revealed how she "wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn't see how skinny my cheekbones really were."

She explained her team searched for a red-carpet ensemble that would complement her frame.

"They knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier," she disclosed.

"I was scared. I wanted to be there to support my mom and to pay tribute to my father's legacy, but I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well."

She noted that during grief, it becomes challenging to experience hunger or desire food.

"You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up," she explained.

Kelly has also discussed navigating parenthood during this period and shared that she made every effort to protect her son, Sidney, from witnessing her struggles.

"Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me, and I'd snap into Miss Fun Mom," Kelly stated. "I didn't cry in front of him. ... I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow."

In an interview with Hello! published on Monday, August 31, Kelly openly admitted, "It's been the hardest year of my life. I'll never be the person I was before my father died ... a part of me died, too."

John Wayne and John Ford forged a legendary Hollywood partnership that lasted for decades. The actor and director created some of the Golden Era's most beloved Westerns, from She Wore a Yellow Ribbon to The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

Yet their crowning achievement is widely regarded as 1956's The Searchers, in which Duke portrayed a Civil War veteran who dedicates years to locating his kidnapped niece.

Filmed in Ford's preferred Monument Valley, situated within Navajo territory along the Arizona/Utah border, temperatures could soar to 49°C (120°F). While the film is viewed as a masterpiece, there was one element of the production that Wayne took issue with, which he revealed in a private letter to Ford following filming. This comes after John Wayne's racist 1971 Playboy interview, which called his legacy into question, was revealed.

Duke wrote to Ford, whom he addressed as "Pappy," "First: I think The Searchers is just plain wonderful. ... I don't think the music is great, but I think it's all right... It's just a wonderful picture. You got great performances out of everyone, and it has a raw brutalness without any pettiness or meanness. All I can say is - Thanks again, Coach. Your everloving, Duke."

John Wayne had also previously complained about another film, but this time, it was about his role.

The 1942 Oscar-winning film Reap the Wild Wind was a box-office hit, but the actor was unhappy with his role and complained he was only there to make Ray Milland look good.

Set in 1840s Florida, the Hollywood production, features Paulette Goddard as a spirited salvage-business operator caught between the romantic pursuits of John Wayne's Captain Jack Stuart and Ray Milland's attorney Stephen Tolliver.

DeMille had earlier contemplated casting Wayne as Wild Bill Hickok in 1936's The Plainsman, though that part ultimately went to Gary Cooper.

DeMille was so taken with Wayne's work that he granted him the freedom to select his own wardrobe for Captain Jack.

However, despite his satisfaction at landing such a prominent role, Duke expressed dissatisfaction with his part, griping that he was merely present to make Milland appear masculine.

When the director promised Wayne he wouldn't require him to do anything compromising his dignity, Duke retorted, "Getting beat up by Ray Milland would lose anybody's dignity."

Carlos Alcaraz continued his return from long-term injury with a hugely impressive fourth-round win against Tommy Paul at the US Open.

Playing just his fourth competitive singles match after an absence of more than four months, the 23-year-old Spaniard produced a masterful performance to beat American 20th seed Paul 6-4 6-3 6-4.

He has dropped only one set on his way to the last eight in New York and his quarter-final opponent will be either American eighth seed Ben Shelton or Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas.

A wrist injury caused Alcaraz to miss both the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this summer.

He had won the previous two Grand Slams - last year's US Open and this year's Australian Open - meaning the straight-set victory over Paul extended his run of match wins at the majors to 18.

Asked on court if he is back to "full power", Alcaraz smiled as he replied: "I think so. Except for one year since [his US Open debut in] 2021, I've made the quarter-finals here. That shows how special this place is to me and shows how well I'm playing every time I come here.

"I just try to enjoy my time on the court and it doesn't matter that I was out for four and a half months - every time I come here, I play my best."

Shelton and Tsitsipas meet in Sunday's night session and seven-time major champion Alcaraz has never previously lost to either player at Tour level, beating Shelton three times and Tsitsipas on six occasions.

"If Shelton were to come through, he is the kind of player that can knock the racquet out of your hand," said American former player Jeff Tarango on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra.

"It's going to be a real test to see how Alcaraz's wrist is with a 149mph serve coming to that forehand, but Alcaraz should get through Shelton if his wrist is fine."

Alcaraz said after his third-round win that he was happy with the level of fitness he had shown in the early rounds following his lengthy absence, while he demonstrated against Paul that the quality of his shot-making is as good as ever.

One sensational cross-court forehand winner early in the second set, which landed in from an almost impossible angle, was measured at 103mph.

That came shortly after Alcaraz had broken Paul's serve in the 10th game of a tight, high-quality opening set to take it 6-4.

Paul, who was attempting to reach the quarter-finals of his home Grand Slam for the first time, battled hard throughout but Alcaraz proved to be too strong.

Paul had two break points when Alcaraz served for the match at 5-4 in the third set, but the two-time US Open champion put together a run of four straight points to seal victory.

Former British number one Tim Henman told Sky Sports: "When you haven't played tennis for four weeks, it seems a lot and you can be a bit rusty. This is four and a half months.

"If you would have given Alcaraz a blank piece of paper at the beginning of the tournament and asked how he'd want the first four matches to go, he would have scripted it exactly like that.

"He's had a few slightly challenging moments but, in the important moments, he's just come up with incredible tennis. That's got to give him so much confidence moving forward."

Indianapolis Colts' running back Jonathan Taylor came within striking distance of his second NFL rushing title in 2025.

But NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter believes the Colts star can go a step further this season, predicting Taylor will rush for 2,000 yards as part of the outlet’s bold predictions for 2026.

"Last season, Taylor was on a tear before quarterback Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending injury," Reuter wrote.

Reuter pointed to a healthy Daniel Jones and Indianapolis’ group of pass catchers as reasons defenses could have a tougher time loading up against Taylor.

That could help Taylor, as Reuter put it, reach the “magical 2,000-yard mark.”

Taylor finished third in the NFL with 1,585 rushing yards last season, trailing rushing champion James Cook by just 36 yards and Derrick Henry by 10. He led the league with 323 carries and 18 rushing touchdowns while also scoring an NFL-best 20 total touchdowns.

The 27-year-old has already come relatively close to the milestone. Taylor rushed for a career-high 1,811 yards in 2021, when he led the NFL in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.

Reaching 2,000 yards would put Taylor in rare company. Only nine players in NFL history have surpassed the mark in a single season, with Saquon Barkley becoming the most recent in 2024.

For *The Vampire Diaries* creatives, casting Enzo was a particularly difficult task. Because originally, the role was going to be very different.

"You were supposed to be the third Salvatore brother," executive producer Julie Plec tells star Michael Malarkey in episode 8 of *EW's Binge: The Vampire Diaries*. Writer Brett Matthews adds, "That was always the plan, and then it went a different direction, but that's why it was so hard to find the person. We thought it was going to be a Salvatore brother, so we cast a very wide net [and] looked very hard." Ultimately, they scrapped that plan and made it so Enzo didn't share Salvatore blood, but he was a brother figure for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) for many years (and he was sired by Lily Salvatore).

But that wasn't the only plan that changed in the writers' room over the years. In discussing the *Vampire Diaries*' final season, Plec and Matthews recall the final major debate: Which Salvatore were they going to kill in the series finale? "We went back and forth in the writers' room all season long," Plec says. "We finally landed on: We're killing Damon. That's the right thing to do. He is the one with the consequence to pay. Stefan was morally a bit stronger of a character."

Matthews adds, "Damon's a fairly obvious choice," noting that the writers really fell in love with the idea of Damon compelling Stefan (Paul Wesley) to let him die. But when executive producer Kevin Williamson proposed that it should be Stefan that dies, they started to rethink their plan. "It felt like dying for Stefan freed him from a lot of weight, whereas it felt like living for Damon freed him to go and be the man that he was always supposed to be," Plec says.

Of course, both Salvatores were meant to die in the original ending Plec and Williamson came up with during the show's second season. In that ending, "The boys would sacrifice themselves to save Elena so that Elena could go and have a life and be human and live," Plec recalls during the podcast. "To save her, they would die together, and that was always the pitch. And then when Nina [Dobrev] left, it felt like the show can't be as much about protecting Elena's happiness, although that's important to us, but we want to protect the bothers' happiness, we want them to get something out of this. Then it shifted to: We can't kill both of them for her because that feels somehow like nobody got what they wanted. Let's find a different way to give one of these brothers the happiness that they need and the other brother the closure that they need."

(One other way Dobrev leaving changed the plan? Plec says, "I thought that by the time we came back to the end of the series, whenever it was, that Elena would've found her way back to Stefan and Damon would've found a different path.")
