Scarlett Johansson is in negotiations to join the cast of "The Batman Part II," starring opposite Robert Pattinson's Caped Crusader.

The DC Studios film, directed by Matt Reeves, is expected to begin shooting next spring for an October 2027 theatrical release from Warner Bros. "The Batman" opened in theaters in March 2022 and grossed $772 million at the worldwide box office; Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin completed the script for the long-awaited sequel in June. Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman is not expected to return for the film, according to sources with knowledge of the production.

"It's been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I'm really proud of the script me and Mattson did," Reeves told Variety at the Emmys in September, revealing the lengths to which "The Batman" team went to keep the story under wraps. "We put [the script] into a secret pouch that literally has a lock on it with a code. [Robert Pattinson] was in New York at the time, and everything is high security."

Likewise, details of Johansson's potential role have not been revealed, but the move is the latest major franchise deal for the actor, who most recently starred in the box office smash "Jurassic World Rebirth" (which grossed more than $800 million for Universal) and will appear in "The Exorcist" reboot. Most notably, Johansson joining the Batman sequel means swinging across the comic book street from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (of which she is a founding Avenger as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow) to DC's factory of heroes.

Johansson, a two-time Oscar nominee, has been plenty busy outside of the realm of franchise IP, too. She made her directorial debut with the drama "Eleanor the Great," which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and was released by Sony Pictures Classics. She'll next be seen starring in James Gray's "Paper Tiger." She is represented by CAA and Yorn Levine LLC.

Nexus Point News first reported news of Johansson eyeing a role in the film. DC Studios had no comment on the casting.

Brigitte Bardot says it's because of a "miracle" that she is still alive today.

In Bardot, a new documentary about her life, the 91-year-old French film star gets candid about her battle with depression and the toll that stardom took on her mental health. While looking back on her career, Bardot revealed that she made several attempts on her life during the height of her fame.

"I was taking my own life," Bardot said in the doc, according to The Sunday Times. "And I was saved by a miracle."

Bardot did not elaborate on what the miracle was, but did note that her battle with depression is something she is working through to this day.

"Every morning I wake up, and I am sad," she shared.

Bardot previously referenced her suicide attempts and other self-destructive behavior in her 1998 autobiography, where she also opened up about dealing with alcohol abuse.

"When you live such intense moments as I have done there is always a bill to pay," she told The Guardian while promoting the book that year. She admitted that prior to retiring from acting in 1973, she was at one point drinking two bottles of champagne and three bottles of wine a day.

"You cannot escape the distress which follows great happiness," she added, when discussing her suicide attempts.

The former actress and current animal rights activist rocketed to fame as a sex symbol of the '50s and '60s. She gained recognition for roles in Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman and Jean-Luc Godard's Le Mépris and soon became an international fashion icon. Following her retirement, Bardot became known as an outspoken activist for animal rights and for voicing strong, controversial opinions — such as denouncing the #MeToo movement in 2018.

Her new documentary comes a few months after French newspaper Var-matin reported in October that Bardot had undergone surgery "as part of a serious illness" and received three weeks of hospital treatment. The nature of the illness was not disclosed.

Around the same time, rumors emerged that she had died — which she swiftly dispelled on social media.

"I am doing well and I have no plan on taking my bow," Bardot wrote in a translated post X.

Robert Downey Jr. is not letting Gwyneth Paltrow off the hook for not knowing her own Marvel movies or costars.

During *The Hollywood Reporter'*s 2025 Women in Entertainment breakfast gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday, Downey Jr. gave a speech honoring his former onscreen love interest as she accepted the 20th annual Sherry Lansing Leadership Award.

And while most of his remarks were heartfelt, he also made sure to tease Paltrow for her constant confusion over the Marvel Cinematic Universe — especially her own movie appearances.

"[She's] impossibly intelligent, yet forever confused by the basic tenets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its inhabitants," Downey Jr. said, according to *THR*.

He then revealed she once asked him who Tom Holland was, despite starring alongside him several times.

"'Who's that?'" Downey Jr. remembered, to which he responded, "'That's Spider-Man. He said his name was Peter. His character's name is Peter. He's Tom Holland. You've done four movies with him.'"

Downey Jr. then praised Paltrow for "building [her company] Goop between takes on the set of *Iron Man,*" while also raising her kids and consistently working in Hollywood.

Paltrow and Downey Jr. played love interests Pepper Potts and Tony Stark, respectively, across many MCU movies, beginning in 2008's* Iron Man* through 2019's *Avengers: Endgame*. Despite her lengthy Marvel resume, Paltrow has gone viral many times for not remembering key details, including the fact that she was literally in some films.

Gwyneth Paltrow has no memory of being in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Paltrow got into a hilarious exchange with MCU director Jon Favreau and celebrity chef Roy Choi in the first episode of Netflix's *The Chef Show* in 2019, where she confidently claimed she wasn't in *Spider-Man: Homecoming.*

"Remember when we were in *Spider-Man*?" Favreau asked Paltrow.

"We weren't in *Spider-Man*," Paltrow responded.

"Yes we were," Favreau said.

"*Homecoming*," Choi helpfully added.

"You were in *Spider-Man*," Favreau said again.

"No, I was in *Avengers*," Paltrow responded.

"You were in *Spider-Man* also," Favreau pointed out.

"What?" Paltrow asked.

***Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.***

"Remember, it's *Spider-Man* at the end, and Tom Holland's there, and you're gonna walk out and do a press conference?" Favreau prompted.

"Oh yes!" Paltrow finally exclaimed.

"That was *Spider-Man*," Favreau said.

"That was *Spider-Man*??" Paltrow realized. "Oh my god."

More recently, Paltrow exposed her MCU confusion again by publicly admitting that she doesn't understand Downey Jr.'s upcoming onscreen return as new character Dr. Doom. In July 2024, Paltrow posted a comment on his Instagram post revealing his return: "I don't get it, are you a baddie now?"

Hopefully by the time *Avengers: Doomsday* comes out on Dec. 18, 2026, Paltrow will have studied up on her MCU lore.**

In November 2024, Kendrick Lamar's sixth album, "GNX," arrived as big records often do these days — with little warning, other than a teaser video that dropped less than an hour before the surprise release. But for those under the rapper's cone of silence for the past three years, "GNX" was the culmination of hard work and collaboration that met the moment head-on.

Lamar, fresh from arguably the most high-profile beef in hip-hop history (the one with Drake that reached a fever pitch last year), delivered an album that invoked the sounds of West Coast rap music while re-centering the national spotlight on his native Compton. The reaction was nothing short of rapturous: He has secured nine Grammy nominations for 2026, including album of the year and song and record of the year, and he performed at the Super Bowl last February, taking a victory lap on the biggest stage in the world.

Lamar, of course, couldn't have done it without his musical hive mind, primarily Sounwave, Jack Antonoff and Mustard, who are collectively being honored as Variety Hitmakers' Producers of the Year. Each has had stellar runs as titans in different corners of music: Sounwave has been Lamar's most consistent production collaborator since 2009 and contributed to records from Taylor Swift and Beyoncé; Antonoff only recently came into Lamar's orbit but has become pop's go-to collaborator on albums from Sabrina Carpenter and Lana Del Rey; Mustard brought the sound of contemporary L.A. hip-hop to records like Lamar's "Not Like Us" and "TV Off" after years of architecting the style with artists like YG and Ty Dolla $ign.

Together, they helped craft one of the most singular and impactful rap albums in years. Work on "GNX" began almost immediately after the release of Lamar's 2022 album, "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers," with the rapper collaborating closely with Sounwave and Antonoff, a pair who first connected around 2015 for Bleachers' sophomore album, "Gone Now." "We have such a specific language between us, me and Sounwave," says Antonoff. "And then we developed our own thing, the three of us. You have it or you don't with people. When you have it, it's really magical; when you don't, you go home."

The trio spent years toiling on what Sounwave estimates was somewhere between 80 and 100 songs, later pared down to the dozen that made "GNX." They would snag batches of time in the studio and created their own "weird little secret society," recalls Antonoff, not in pursuit of a specific sound but seeing where the process took them. "The beginning of it was throwing paint on the wall," says Sounwave. "And it started to form this massive funky West groove that we love because [Kendrick and I are] from Compton. And in that, I started to realize the people who we should bring in to push it even further, like the Mustards, the Jacks. … I was very fortunate to have these friends who are very talented to push it to the next level."

Along with "Not Like Us," which dropped at the height of Lamar's contretemps with Drake, two songs on "GNX" — "Luther" featuring SZA and "TV Off " featuring Lefty Gunplay — became among the biggest hits this year, according to Luminate. "Not Like Us" set the stage for the shape of the album, released to the surprise of Mustard after he'd been sending Lamar beats for years. "I knew that I couldn't send Kendrick normal Mustard beats," he says. His instrumental that became the backbone for Lamar's "Hey Now," for instance, had been passed over by Quavo and YG. (Ty Dolla $ign cut an unreleased song over the beat.) "I was sending [Kendrick] all types of shit, anything that I thought sounded like something that I've never made before. That's what I was going for, because Kendrick is different."

Amid the swaths of ideas that Mustard would text Lamar directly were two instrumentals later combined to make "TV Off," which went viral on the back of Lamar screaming Mustard's name at the beat switch. Mustard recalls creating the first half of the song in the same month that he produced "Not Like Us," and he worked on the second part as an idea for his own album. As with "Not Like Us," he heard the completed "TV Off " for the first time along with the rest of the world. "I never asked Jack or Wave who put those two beats together, or Kendrick," he says. (Sounwave says it was Lamar's idea.) "I care, but I don't care. I was just like, that was great."

The "GNX" magic happened in the studios where Lamar, Antonoff and Sounwave collaborated, particularly for "Luther," one of the biggest hits of 2025. The record is built around a sample of Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn's 1982 rendition of "If This World Were Mine," a song that Lamar and Sounwave had wanted to flip since 2017's "Damn." "Luther" came together as something of a groupthink exercise: Producer Roselilah sent a pack of beats mined for a kick and snare; Sounwave chopped up the sample; M-Tech replayed chords on the piano; Ink came up with melodies for SZA's part. It was a "spiritual" experience, says Sounwave, "because of how everybody just fell in. Everything we added was just like the perfect missing piece to that record."

Antonoff, for his part, densely laid in bits of guitar and Mellotron to build out the world of "Luther." "If you really listen to the record, obviously Kendrick and SZA are right there and the beat's right there and the melody," he says. "But there's all this stuff dancing around, like in between them. I wanted to go overboard with the presentation of how special it could be. I ended up sitting alone for a really long time carving out all these little spaces."

The meticulous nature of "GNX" only intensified as the record sped toward completion. Antonoff recalls working on final mixes as late as four in the morning, just hours before the album's release. Its impact was instantly tangible — "Luther" held court atop the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks, while "Not Like Us" picked up Grammys for song and record of the year. But for the producers who helped bring "GNX" to life, it signified that taking risks — sonically and creatively — was the only path forward.

"It basically shows that there's no boundaries," says Sounwave. "We hate to just keep doing the same thing over and over. It's something we kind of thrive off of, just reinventing yourself. Do stuff that makes it exciting, and the people who supported you will be excited with you. I kid you not: Yesterday there was a 60-year-old woman driving down the street rapping a 'GNX' song word for word. Just to see that my home is still playing it as if it just came out … that's special."

After more than four years, Euphoria finally has a return date.

On Wednesday, HBO announced that season 3 of creator Sam Levinson's buzzy teen drama will premiere in April 2026.

The season 2 finale aired in February 2022.

Thankfully, the series will feature a major time jump when season 3 begins, and Levinson promised "this is our best season yet" as he revealed new details about where each of the characters are at the start of the new episodes.

Jacob Elordi in 'Euphoria'

"Five years felt like a natural place because if they'd gone to college they'd be out of college at that time," the creator said during an HBO Max presentation in London on Wednesday, according to Variety. "We basically pick up Rue [Zendaya] south of the border in Mexico, in debt to [drug dealer] Laurie [Martha Kelly], trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off."

Check out the first look shot of Zendaya as Rue below:

— euphoria (@euphoriaHBO) December 3, 2025

Levinson added that the new season will feature a wedding for Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi), who have stayed together since high school ended.

"Cassie is living in the suburbs with Nate, they're engaged, and she's very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time," Levinson said. "I will say that Cassie and Nate do in fact get married. I'm confirming it. And I promise that it will be an unforgettable night."

As for those "big lives" of the other characters post-time jump, the creator revealed that Jules (Hunter Schafer) "is in art school, very nervous about having a career as a painter, and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs."

As for Maddy, (Alexa Demie), Levinson said that she "is working in Hollywood at a talent agency for a manager, she's obviously got her own side hustles going. And Lexi [Maude Apatow] is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, who is just absolutely delightful and a true icon."

Also returning for season 3 are original stars Eric Dane, Colman Domingo, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, and Nika King. Newcomers include Rosalía, Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, Marshawn Lynch, and Sam Trammell.

Past Euphoria stars who won't return for season 3 include Barbie Ferreira, who announced a "teary-eyed goodbye" to her character Kat Hernandez following the season 2 finale, as well as the late Angus Cloud, who played the sensitive drug dealer Fezco and died of an accidental overdose in July 2023.

Elordi previously told Entertainment Weekly that Nate's primary goal in season 3 is just to "survive," adding that the character's arc will involve "the end of hubris" and "the end of arrogance."

"It's a real treat to be a part of that show, and to play the quote-unquote bad guy," he added. "It's always more fun. You don't wanna play some morally superior, world-saving loser."

Garth's wife, Trisha Yearwood, considers herself a "bonus mom" to his kids

Garth Brooks is known for being a legend in the world of country music, but he's always taken his role as a dad to heart.

The singer welcomed three daughters — Taylor, August and Allie — with ex-wife Sandy Mahl. The college sweethearts married in 1986 and separated in 1999 before finalizing their divorce in 2001.

Around the time of his split from Mahl, Garth temporarily retired from music to help raise his kids, moving them into a one-bathroom bunkhouse on his ranch in Oklahoma, where he began forming closer bonds with them.

"I knew their sweet faces and their dispositions. But I didn't know who they were," he told PEOPLE in 2015.

The "Rodeo" vocalist also recalled the public reaction to his personal decision. "People said, 'How could you walk away from music?' " he explained. "But being a dad — there's nothing that can touch that."

Throughout his fatherhood journey, Garth learned that children have minds of their own and that parents can only offer guidance. "[Kids] are the greatest joy and the greatest heartache you'll ever have," he said. "The truth is, they're going to be who they're going to be."

His children also have a special relationship with his wife and fellow country singer, Trisha Yearwood, whom he wed in 2005. She calls herself a "bonus mom."

"They let me learn my way and allowed me to be that third parent in their lives," Yearwood told PEOPLE in May 2021. "They were a gift that I didn't know I needed. I didn't know how much children brought into your life until I got a chance to be a part of their lives."

Here's everything to know about Garth Brooks' daughters: Taylor, August and Allie.

Garth's oldest daughter, Taylor, made him a father on July 8, 1992.

"After this, nothing else matters," Garth said after her birth, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The newspaper also reported that when Mahl was pregnant with Taylor, she collapsed and "nearly lost the baby." However, her doctors advised her to rest, and she suffered no further complications, per the outlet.

Taylor has remained out of the spotlight, but Garth gave a glimpse of her in his 2019 A&E documentary Garth Brooks: The Road I'm On. At the time of filming, Taylor was in her second year of pursuing a master's degree in theological studies at Vanderbilt University.

"Taylor is quiet courage," he said. "Taylor will trade her life for someone she doesn't know."

In the two-part documentary, she also revealed what Garth was like as a dad. "He was a big dinner person," she shared. "He liked to make dinner and could not cook to save his life."

Taylor has also welcomed kids of her own. In a Mother's Day Instagram post from May 2021, Taylor's sister Allie referenced Taylor as being an amazing mom. The family photo featured Allie posing alongside their mom, Mahl, younger sister, August and stepmom, Yearwood.

"Celebrating the gorgeous mommas in my life. I love you so much," Allie captioned the picture. "My beautiful mommas and my sister who is THE coolest mom, other than my other sister who is also the coolest Mom. Happy Mothers Day🖤."

Garth and Mahl welcomed their second child, a daughter named August, on May 3, 1994.

According to The Boot, after graduating from high school in 2012, she worked at a law firm and attended classes at the University of Oklahoma.

Garth also described August as having "intelligence, stubbornness, will" in his A&E documentary.

As Allie revealed, August is a mom herself who gave birth to her first daughter, Karalynn, in 2013 with her boyfriend and high school sweetheart, Chance Russell, according to the Daily Mail. The couple welcomed a second daughter, Gwendolyn, in 2016.

Earlier that year, Garth praised August's parenting skills during an interview with KICKS 105.5. "No offense to my mom, or Ms. Yearwood's mom, or Sandy's mom, I'm not sure any of them could hold a candle to my daughter," he said. "I think she was made to be a mom."

Garth also shared more about how Karalynn's arrival impacted them, revealing that he was initially "worried" about his daughter.

"It always turns out that that baby is the glue that holds the whole family together," he continued. "She's the little stem that kind of holds the whole family together, and it's kind of new for us ... she's a doll."

When August gave birth to Gwendolyn, Mahl spoke about how the country singer felt. "Garth is thrilled he's got a new granddaughter. She's beautiful, healthy and wonderful," she told Radar Online in December 2016.

Garth's youngest daughter Allie, born on July 28, 1996, is also a country singer who performs as Allie Colleen.

She graduated from Belmont University in 2018 with a degree in songwriting and music business, per her website.

Since signing with the independent label Evangeline Records, she has toured across the United States, including Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana and more.

When she's not on the road, Allie enjoys riding horses, getting tattoos, lifting weights and spending time with her dog, Merry Moo.

In July 2020, Garth announced that Allie had tested positive for COVID-19 but that she had recovered.

"As a parent, nobody knows what COVID is going to do in the future so you just watch over them," he said during a press conference where he announced he was pulling his name out of contention for the CMA Entertainer of the Year Award. "You pray a lot and hopefully she will come out of this thing with just that."

The following year, for Father's Day, Allie shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, including a picture of herself and her dad (alongside sister August) and a throwback shot of the two.

"Here's to all the Dads that have always been where they're needed 🤍 and to the best one a daughter could ask for," she wrote.
