- Tommy Shelby is heading home in *Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man*, a follow-up to Netflix's hit crime drama.

- The sequel finds the notorious gangster back in Birmingham in 1940, racing to save his son.

- It opens in theaters March 6, and will stream on Netflix two weeks later.

It's been years since Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) last rode out of Birmingham on that white horse. Time has changed him — he's put away the caps, suits, and guns, and said goodbye to the empire he once commanded. But a Shelby never stays gone for long.

In *Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man*, a follow-up film to the Netflix series, Tommy is pulled back into the life he tried to leave behind. With World War II consuming Birmingham, his son's reckless behavior drags him into the city's violent streets once more.

"The father and son were the main structures," series creator Steven Knight told ** about the heart of the film.

With the setup in place, here's everything we know about *Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man*, from its release date to the actor cast as Tommy's son.

What is Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man about?

According to the synopsis, *Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man *will unfold on the streets of Birmingham in 1940.

"Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet," it reads. "With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground."

Is there a *Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man *trailer?

The official trailer for *Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man *was released on Feb. 19, and it wastes no time introducing new faces.

Rebecca Ferguson's Kaulo confronts Tommy with some harsh truths: "You live in a house haunted with ghosts of people who died because of you," she says. "You abandoned your kingdom. And you abandoned your son."

Speaking of that son, we finally meet him. His name is Duke Shelby, and he's played by rising star Barry Keoghan. According to Tommy's sister, Ada (Sophie Rundle), Duke has taken the reins of the Peaky Blinders and runs the gang "like it's 1919 all over again."

Tommy, older and more withdrawn, admits, "I can't help him because I'm not that man anymore."

Duke, though, is all fire: "The world don't give a f--k about me," he says in the trailer. "And I don't give a f--k about the world."

The footage also teases Tim Roth's Beckett, a British fascist sympathizer who's sure to get under Tommy's skin. After taking down the British Union of Fascists from the inside, Tommy has mostly kept a low profile, but the thought of his heir siding with the Nazis might be enough to pull him back into the fight.

"I've heard you decided this wasn't your war," Hayden Stagg (Stephen Graham) tells Tommy, who responds, "It is now."

The final shot lands at the Garrison, with Tommy and Duke sharing a drink. "Just to see those two in the Garrison on either side of the bar drinking whiskey — didn't get any better for me," Knight told EW.

Cillian Murphy, who won an Oscar for his turn in *Oppenheimer* (2023), reprises his role as Tommy Shelby, who, according to Knight, is in "a very bad place" at the start of the film. "He's withdrawn from the world," Knight told EW. "He's haunted by his life and the things he's done."

But family still drives Tommy, and he'll go to any lengths to protect them. "For family, he's invited to come back to the world and save his son," Knight added.

Barry Keoghan, the *Saltburn* star who was recently cast as Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes' upcoming Beatles biopics, steps into the role of Tommy's son, Duke.

Knight gushed about casting the Oscar nominee, saying, "I wanted him to be the son from the beginning, and when we knew we got him, he took it to another level. Who he is in real life is perfect for this."

Another new face joining the franchise is *Dune* star Rebecca Ferguson, playing a new character named Kaulo. "She just sort of takes over, in a really good way," Knight shared.

Although the character is still a mystery, Knight told EW that he knew from the start that she needed to have a major presence in the *Peaky Blinders *world. "I wanted her to reflect the tradition of powerful female characters and the fact that *Peaky* has always been a bit supernatural," he explained. "I wanted the idea of destiny and fate, and is it fate or is it your own choice and free will and all that."
