The Montana State running back, Julius Davis, was involved in a heated exchange with coach Brent Vigen after the team's Dec. 6 victory against Yale

In a video from the game, Davis can be seen yelling at the fifth-year head coach, who appeared to be pulling him away from reconnecting with a former teammate, and pushing away a fellow teammate in the process

"I'm committed to learning from this moment, handling my emotions better, and showing the respect and professionalism that my teammate, my coach, and everyone watching deserves," Davis wrote on social media

Julius Davis is apologizing for a confrontation that transpired between him and coach Brent Vigen after Montana State's Dec. 6 game against Yale.

Moments after the Bobcats took home the victory against the Bulldogs, the Montana State running back, who transferred from Wisconsin in April 2023, appeared to be yelling at the fifth-year head coach, who seemed to be steering him away from reconnecting with an alleged former teammate. Davis then swiped his hand to the side and walked away, as seen in videos from the incident.

After Vigen and cornerback Takhari Carr followed Davis across the field, the athlete appeared to shove Carr away before becoming embroiled in a heated exchange with Vigen. After a few moments of intense back and forth, the two then joined the postgame team huddle.

Soon after the incident began making headlines, Davis addressed what had happened on social media.

"Espn Misconstrued a moment in our previous game, I was not smack talking the Yale players i actually was dapping up a former teammate of mine from Wisconsin," he wrote on X. "I want to sincerely apologize to my teammate and my coach for my actions. In the heat of the moment, I let my emotions get the best of me and reacted in a way that was unacceptable."

Taking "full responsibility" for arguing the way that he did, Davis went on to assure onlookers that he and Vigen had worked out their conflicts privately.

"Coach Vigen and I already talked, no one outside of this team understands our relationship and how much respect I have for him," he continued. "I also understand that my reaction was seen by many, and I'm truly sorry for the example it set."

"I hold myself, my team, my coaches, and the game itself to a high standard, and I didn't reflect that in my behavior," he concluded. "I'm committed to learning from this moment, handling my emotions better, and showing the respect and professionalism that my teammate, my coach, and everyone watching deserves."
