Couple flees to north of the Arctic Circle in bid to escape Covid-19


OTTAWA — In a scramble to escape the coronavirus, a pair drove greater than three,400 miles across Canada after which flew another 500 miles deep into the northern Yukon territory.

Upon their arrival in the remote group of Previous Crow, the visitors have been swiftly ushered into self-isolation and ultimately despatched packing.

Dana Tizya-Tramm, chief of the Vuntut Gwitchin, informed POLITICO that the person and lady from Quebec landed Friday in Previous Crow, which is north of the Arctic Circle.

“I do feel for these people — once I spoke with them they have been legitimately scared,” Tizya-Tramm stated Monday from the fly-in group of 250 individuals about 60 miles east of the Alaskan border.

“That they had bought all the things that that they had, drove across the country and jumped on a flight to our group. He stated that they actually simply picked it out on a map and figured it will be the most secure place in Canada to climate a Covid-19 storm.”

The RCMP did not return calls from POLITICO concerning the case.



Tizya-Tramm described the couple as “hippy-ish” and certain underneath the age of 35. The man had two facial tattoos, Josie added.
