Trump authorizes DoD, DHS to call up reservists to fight virus


President Donald Trump signed an government order Friday giving the Departments of Defense and Homeland Safety the authority to activate the ready reserve elements of the armed forces to help the nationwide response to the coronavirus.

The chief order offers DoD and DHS — which oversees the Coast Guard — emergency authority to order to lively obligation as many as 1 million members of the prepared reserves. Nevertheless, it isn't an order to take action.

Trump stated the order would permit the U.S. to mobilize medical, catastrophe and emergency response personnel to help struggle the virus, which has sickened greater than 100,000 individuals across the nation.
